  1. A player agent contacts AP 'We have a player interested.' Contese contacts the club 'We will offer XYZ.' The other club 'Yes agreed.' The player with agent meet Cortese 'I will sign as I like that deal.' Cortese 'You tell anyone and I will pull out.' Where does any of the above say 'Contact the press or even a friend, supporter, current Saints player to let them know and spill the deal. They don't and they won't. That's why the next players in will be a total surprise to us all and that all ITK and the speculation in the Echo, Mail, and forums etc should be ignored as it's all pants.
  2. Spoke to someone and trust me I have no reason to believe they know any insiders to the club so treat it as a pinch of salt. We have agreed a deal with two championship clubs for a striker and a midfielder. We spoken to the two players we want who will put pen to paper once there clubs have agreed to get replacements. IMHO I believe Tyson is one while I will watch closely to see who else brings in a player. I'm looking towards Swansea and Bristol City for some reason as I have a inkling about them.
  3. Talking about Alpine?
  4. I think he's saying 'without Hammond, Lallana, Fonte & Lambert who are maybe leaving to join the Premiership in the next week, the players I have coming in 'Stock, Carter, Bruno & Dean will give us an okay squad.'
  5. I'm abit worried on the amount of goals we are conceding lately. IMHO Plymouth can put three past us quite easily in the first game..... (it feels great doing a alpine impression)
  6. If it's to be announced tonight then I would of thought we would have him playing tonight. Although we have agreed a deal with Forest (if that's correct) then it's still a couple of days from completion IMHO.
  7. We are short of squad midfielders so I'm sure if he does alright tonight then a bid of 350k will snap him up. Can't see him being the one that AP is really after as I feel the big one is yet to arrive.
  8. I know AP is playing the waiting game well but like someone said, for the sake of £100k we could lose both our first games while someone like Tyson could make the difference. The thought of being top of the league and putting the fear into other teams is the greatest football feeling ever.
  9. That's the way I see it too. If we bought Stock for 1m and Rovers approached Boro with an offer of 400k for there player, You can be sure Strachan will say 'You have the money now so make us a better offer' If it was the other way round where Rovers went to Boro and got a player saying we can only afford 400k they would most likely take it. I remember the days when we would often sell our star player and bring in 3/4 players in for the squad. Shearer out - Speedie, Groves & Dixon in.... haha
  10. I'm not so sure he is, I feel he is looking for players that are this divisions/championship best (Stock, Austin &Danns type) who will help us go straight through two leagues. Plus he will want a return on them if they can't quite hack the premier.
  11. But if Y wont sell X then it means we have missed out on a,b,c,d,e,f etc......... Or does it mean that Y knows AP will come back with a better offer to sell X.
  12. AP says "We've been watching the market, there's not been much movement and we are trying not to pitch in too early as a better player may come available and we miss him. It's about timing, the fans shouldn't get too concerned, I know they are waiting for us to pitch in, but hopefully we will do that in the next few weeks when a lot of managers will be doing the same thing." Someone please explain to me how this works? Am I right in saying that AP has noted his targets and he will wait for that target to become available for the price we think he is worth and also given the other team a chance to bring in a replacement? or does it mean that there is nothing worth going for at the moment until the other team decide to give us a nudge to make an offer as they have decided to sell there best player because they then can bring in 3 more players for that fee? or finally does he mean, I've not had a chance to scout for players or even seen how my current team will play as I just can't remember much from the last season? :-) PS I know when someone says we have 5 million to spend on players means that AP has to include signing on fees and wages in that figure, this would suggests he could bring in 2 x 1 million players and a 500k one too which would just about cover it.
  13. I always believe the most important part of a team is the centre pieces, just like a chess board. I have always dominated with my rooks and queen on standby and at the moment IMHO we need to sort ours out with decent backups and not makeshifts like Dickson & Holmes.
  14. Saints stock up for the new season. Saints have stocked up with the sensational signing of Brian Stock for an undisclosed fee tonight!
  15. A championship player does not drop a league for a sub role.
  16. The mail paper is the only one that I would half believe a rumour. Interesting but I can't see Benny coming as he would want one last pay day, if he wants Tyson then we will get him in the end, depending if he will come to us. Where does that leave Barnard and Connolly? Interesting indeed!
  17. With you on that. Come on guys as it was not his fault someone offered him a contract, would you also signed it?
  18. Greatest hope for this season?-Play exciting football that will bring us back to the 30k days every home game. Biggest fear?-A slow start that will have the fans on the manager and players back. Most important player?-Lallana as nobody can touch him when he's on form. Terrace favourite?-Lambert Keep an eye out for...-Connolly as he is a hell of a poacher when he's fit. Player you'd happily drive to his next club?-Neil Danns, I will pick him up from Palace and drop him at the gates of St Mary's. One change you'd make at your club? Smaller goals for the opposition to score in. Have we got the right manager?- Not so sure as the guy finds it hard to change formations to win games. What advice would you give him?- Get a proven plan B,C on the bench so we can turn games around more easier. Which team do you most want to beat this season?- Huddersfield as they are really starting to **** me off. Opposition player you despise?- One's that play out of there skins to run our fullbacks ragged. Opposition player you secretly admire?- Don't admire any league one players as they are really **** compared to Premiership. Where will we finish?- On the last kick of the season.
  19. Thanks Sue Whistle. It's nice to hear real news at last, maybe those two moaners have finally found a room and sorted it with bum bashing.
  20. They are saying Shearer is taking over Clark next week. huh???
  21. That's the one I was thinking of.
  22. That explains why you asked me to find your **** for you at Wembley.
  23. For every time you post on the forum Alpine, swap it for a 30 second jog, I promise you that belly will have you fit in no time.
  24. You make some fair points Alpy but let's leave it to AP to sort out, that's what he is paid for and quite frankly he knows his head is on the line here and you can be sure he is busting his arse trying to bring in the right players and not just any players for the sake of trying to keep fans happy. He plan is to win this league and to continue straight through the Championship without having to buy too many other players. He is doing that with Richardson and Dickson + who he brings in next?
