Who didnt challenge in the jump for the ball with Morgan? It looked to me it was Pelle which was surprising. The ball went between 2 Utd players , one who seemed to block our player to let the ball through for Mata

i notice small digs at targett on here. Personally i think he played ok. he has faced some decent wingers this season and seems to me to learning. I was sitting next to a Man U fan and he commented how good he thought he was.

It is the first time I have arranged a game for about 2 seasons (except friendly at the start of season) Things don't change. We never seem to win with Clattenberg, we didn't get the second goal that would have been fair considering our superiority. We sat back and let them play, it all seemed to happen after they put in a couple of heavy tackles. Clattenberg didn't give a card and so they could carry on pulling and fouling without fear of being booked or sent off. I thought Jwp was pretty good until Morgan hit him with a tackle near their box and he faded ( add to that Pelle giving him an ear bashing regarding his free kicks not aimed at him) I was a bit surprised that after setting up the 2nd goal Sadio did not show any emotion or go and celebrate the goal (his head in Manchester?) Targett coped well until he got injured. Romeu taken off! Was he injured? Why Tadic was not replaced As he faded badly after about 30minutes Yoshida's back pass !!! The save by De Gea was one of the best I have seen over the years. It was breathtaking from where I was sitting. Van Dyke needs to work on his pace and strength of heading Sadio and Pelle superb. I was sat near Rodney Wallace and Glen Cockerill (neither cheered our goals) The United fans good but I do think it's funny that when they sing ' only here to see Utd' they really put on a Manc accent.

Luke Shaw suffers double leg fracture against PSV
OldNick replied to Singapore Saint's topic in The Saints
but those players never played at Utd and so why should they. Luke obviously has great affection for our club by his tweet, and he is a decent lad. I hope he recovers quickly and his promise comes to fruition. That would be good for my Country of birth as well. Get well soon Luke, -
yes, he certainly took a beating during that test. There had to be underlying reasons why the Windies took the route they did. It was an appalling show of aggression, and in those days they had no helmets. RIP

don't worry the Tories will fight amongst themselves re the Euro vote and the waters will muddy again. None of them are loyal to a cause but have a nonsense view of the UK standing alone in the modern world. Many of the younger voters will never have been around when the Labour left last had power. You will get the trendy celebs etc spout 'what fun' it is to have leftish party , where they will protect their wealth but harp on about spreading they rest out. I recall Benn doing the same when the Wealth tax was going to happen. It was interesting to see that Scottish woman who did well in the last election start trying to pop at Corbyn as she knows his policies are similar to the SNP. The next election will be close again IMO.

Jeremy and Piers the names of typical working class brothers from a struggling family, have they a brother called Rupert as well?. I have not bothered to read about their background but I never knew many lads of that name when I was kicking a ball around Shirley Rec. My father used to say ' only the rich can afford to look poor'

Nigel Adkins Interview (Saints YouTube channel, Monday)
OldNick replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
i agree with Lard. He should have done better with the resources he had. Losing out league titles to Brighton and Reading was poor. Ok we got promoted but look at those two clubs and where they are now compared to us. Our name should be engraved on those trophies and seeing the old Division ( top division)one trophy that I watched being lifted by other clubs growing up, and missing seeing our captain lift it does irk. -
Nothing like giving some youngsters a chance is there? Get used to having young players who are notate the finished article as that is the blueprint of our club. Targett has faced some very decent wingers and done ok.each game he learns a little more and in time will do ok. Perhaps not a top 4 player but good enough.

Paul Whitehouse is overrated. I watched the Danny Baker 'life story' first episode and boy was that poor. I suppose it doesn't help as I don't like him. ( I watched it as I thought Peter Kaye would be good) Now there is the Lenny Henry story, I hope the script writers don't use Henry's own stuff!!,, what is wrong with the world that talentless so called entertainers get high paid jobs
-
If Clinton had given the go ahead to do the same to Bin Laden when he had the chance well before 9/11 the world would be a lot different now.

I watched a bit of the German Scotland game, what English players can pass the ball and move like they do? It has to be a fundamental problem when our kids are young. We have the mindset of get stuck in and work rate. Any youngster under 8 if not 10 should spend hours a week passing and ball control. Once they are comfortable working with a ball then the running jumping and getting stuck in can then develop

I know, and have wasted 2 of my 3 posts of the day on it. lol. I havent paid my £5 yet as Im too faffed to bother at the mo.
-
you'd never have guessed. I thought they all work for nothing.
-
Im not so sure about that.
-
He didn't get the credit he deserves for his part in our first goal. The way he won the all and turned was brilliant. Had it been one of the fans favourites there would be threads about it. Perhaps at long last he has seen a chance to cement a place in the team
-
What good will the club getting 25m will do for us as fans? We saw yesterday how important Mane is to us, Janazai is so far a busted flush in comparison. The 25 m would be put in the pocket and lost in the smoke and mirrors of the clubs finances. We don't spend nearly as much as we take in, let alone the TV money etc

CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
OldNick replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
I believe RK more than anybody at te club. When he said nobody would leave I was 100% sure that was the case. His wording in the Echo did not give the same assurance a few days later. It may be as I said his way of using our language -

RK words in the Echo 'I will be happy 6pm on Tuesday- then we know nothing more can happen. If he was certain nothing can happen I would suggest he would not even worry about the window shutting. it is not making things up, it is my viewpoint on what RK has said. As I said it may be his English but...... -
CONFIRMED - Virgil Van Dijk joins on Five Year Deal
OldNick replied to Brizzie Saints's topic in The Saints
Reading RK quote in the Echo is a tad concerning. Glad that the window shuts on Tuesday so we know nobody is gone. It might be his English but it doesn't seem he believes no player will be sold, if his words are interpreted correctly. -
yep but it was his friggin club and the like that have taken the players who made us good over they last couple of seasons. We really needed to buy some quality before the window closes
-
its a no brainer for the owners but as a fan whether the club gets 30m or 50m it does not give me more entertainment or bonus. It is about time the club dropped its admission prices. We are paying top money to watch players develop not to enjoy the finished product
