  1. My observations not criticisms. Caulker was at fault for the first goal as he drifted in to the middle and seemed to want to play where Fonte was. He did look very nervous on the ball and obviously early days to settle. He won plenty in the air and should have scored with his header. Martina was given a poor review on here when he signed, but to me he looked a decent and athletic player. The only thing i didnt like was that he did not hide his frustrations at his team-mates. JWP was tidy and tried to dominate but too careful without trying the killer pass Reed, i dont see what all the fuss is about and looked just ok, without the extra needed to be a top player. I hope it is down to pre season and I have got that wrong. JRod, was obviously rusty and I felt was anxious if there was going to be a tackle.Hopefully once he gains a bit of confidence after a couple of heavy tackles that will clear his mind. On a personal note I took my granddaughter to her first ever game (4yr old) and expected her to want to leave after 15mins but she loved it, great to see her punch the air after we scored lol.Where she learnt that i will never know.
  2. Until Saintsweb have the members names on the banner instead of fomer players/heroes to massage egos aka Sotonians I can't see Muppet ever recovering.
  3. I can't see the problem, it. Is just a simple transfer of ticket and only issued once, although of course the S/t holder may well use this as a guise to get some freebie in,eg 2tickets for the price of one
  4. Ron Davies left Saints and even played for Pompey, his memory was not tarnished as he gave us so much whe he was with us. RL gave his all and it shows how little a lot on here know about football. RL was never at his best as a target man, but his quick mind and ability to find a pass or stick the ball in the net was and is superb. I know it was against L2 players but the 2nd goal he scored the other night was due to a sharp brain and speed to see a chance.
  5. I don't know what RL behaviour was like as he was leaving Saints but the former kit an is a mate and he said that RL was class always at the club. The way he acts in public shows class, and if he doesn't in the club he is a fantastic actor. A decent human being IMO and I will always wish him well
  6. no doubt the tickets with the highest face value will be sold first. I'm sure the s/t holders in the best seats (lol) will be delighted when mates of the smelly bell owner sit in that section. As for the picture of the fans in the News article are shielding their eyes so that they don't have to watch. Fantastic bit of selling, you buy a seat and spend a lot of the match shielding your eyes
  7. I had to look at the ones that were worse. No much in it. Debatable if the ones below were indeed worse
  8. Scrubbers in Pompey apparently according to BBC south Today. Why they are reporting something we have always knownis a bit of a surprise..............oh the scrubbers that clean exhaust fumes on the channel ferries
  9. :lol:If the new site where a lot of the posters who left here, is anything to go by ,you need to have the owner and the other protagonists displayed along the top of the banner. They are the heroes, sod the players who have represented us LOL
  10. if he's good enough for Koeman then i will be more than happy to accept his judgement. I personally feel he is a decent player and with a bit more PL playing time he could be decent for us
  11. we need wickets that let the ball move off the pitch. Having a pitch that nullifies our bowlers but help their faster bowlers is madness. Depressing to see us not standing up to them and now we look a sad bunch. I can't see us getting our confidence back and the Aussies who were down are now full of confidence for the next test
  12. What a bunch of fools. I can't imagine that the Aussies would prepare any pitches that would help the opposition.
  13. lol, perhaps he forgot the League cup as well
  14. true, how many players have been called superstars and then not made it over the years. We know MS is a star but he hasnt really been tested in the spotlight of the massive club Man U are.
  15. On the southampton past and present thread they ask where is this? It is Northam road ,where Cobwebs (shipping memorabilia) and the desk centre (pompey fans) are now
  16. if hes any good he will be the only decent Toilet at FP
  17. its amazing how short memories fans have. I vividly recall fans singing his name and willing him to score in the Testimonial game he played at the Dell. His big fault was that he played to the rules and did not go down Pompeys route. We budgetted for the Pl (the money was very low then of course) but could not survive with the players contracts and costs of running the club in the lower leagues. RL mis calculated and many of us did also (including me)when he wanted to bring Hoddle back he listened to the fanbase. I was very anti Hoddle but i suspect he would have kept us up. Thankfully he didnt as Lowe would still be at the club and we would not have had the Leibherrs
  18. yep Saints at the Dell would have been a fantastic appeal to billionaires pre the PL. The stadium and facilities, that were of massive appeal to the Liebherrs would be a major reason why we were bought out of admin. Had we been at the Dell we would have been where Pompey. My 3 posts are up for today
  19. there is not a club where you cannot name some duff signings. As for Bale, I doubt there is anyone who woud have thought he would be 100m player. I dont think he was responsible for the writeoff on him anyway, was it not the Wilde bunch?
  20. I was thinking on similar lines this morning. It is a credit to you Duncan that you post such a thing as you were not always a fan of Lowes Lowe was many things but if you look at the current owners model it is just what Lowe was intending to do for us. Sadly having a posh English accent and also the name of Rupert never helped his cause.
  21. This bag is going to be bulging even more when you sign for United
  22. I agree but we patently cant or wont keep a player who wants to leave.I would love the club to make a stand and put a player in the reserves to rot, but no club will do so as money is the factor.
  23. I thought we were told that no player will leave unless we are happy for them to go, so that would infer that we could enforce a player to stay. It is also amusing that most of the time we are told the the Echo is full of rubbish and then when it suits we suck up their story re TA as chapter and verse. The legal route soon was pushed under the carpet. Also last pre season we were told that all the transfer money in would be spent on players ( not withstanding the 30m war chest and Sky money) We are now told that we need to sell before spend. The fans always are taken as mugs and whatever side of the fence we fall in, we are being played. I am calm about the lack of players coming in at present and will give the club a bit of slack, but come the start of the season if they have not bought some quality we may regret it. Had we purchased a couple of quality players in January the CL could well have been obtainable
  24. All clubs have arrogant bellends. We have fans who give it the big one and go on rivals sites. Spurs are a massive club. Under performers but we have to face it, we are a selling club and Spurs can buy who they want from us if they pay the money

Mainly fair. I dont dislike Spurs, I do Liverpool as I grew up with lots of mates who were Liverpool fans as they ruled Division 1 (now EPL) for a long time. I have little worry about that with Spurs. They are the Saints of London, nearly getting there but as they get close the bigger and better clubs take the better players away. I like Poch and feel he will do well, but you will not finish above Arsenal or the like for a longtime as you like Saints will sell the players who can take you there. Time will tell if Toby will cut it at Spurs but i have never rated centre halves who are more worried about their hair than counting their scars on their face. Good luck to you and you may laud over us for another season but at the end of the day, you are just us but a couple of places up the league. Enjoy the Europa league as that is where you will be for years. i personally dont care for European football but i know you wannabees do
