The last I heard was that he was competing at a high level of veteran tennis tournaments, I used to play tennis with him at Lordshill and a private house in Chilworth. I would moan at him about FB ,but he would say he was worth his weight in gold due to his commitment and was a super member of the team. Oh well..... ps sorry to give the thread title a bad vibe for yo u

Amazing a defender overseeing a poor defence. We went on a long run of games where we didn't win and the pressure was on, I left with a minute or so to go at 0-0 against Newcastle and then all of a sudden we scored. The other fans in the street were jumping with joy,at long last we had won a game. He was learning and a sad loss when he left. The shadow of. LM hung over the club, Moyes is now having the same at Man Utd

I think he was in charge when we won 4-1 away at QPR ,the football and goals that day were sublime. I remember during those days they were raving about our young players

Begrudging thanks to Rupert Lowe and Southampton City Council

I know a dentist who is a Saints fan but I wouldn't ask him to do a vasectomy lol I think you will find that one of the best galleries in Stockbridge the owner is a Saints fan, who could have pointed the club in the correct direction -
Chris Nicholl should have been one of greatest managers we have had. His teams played some magical football. Unfortunately he followed our most successful manager in Lawrie, had he followed Branfoot he would have had a much longer tenure but following LM made his life very difficult. He was also an unlucky manager, Luton in the League cup and Oldham also were games we should have won but some poor decisions by the officials cost us.

FA Cup 5th round draw thread (Sunderland Away)

If we win this one we will still need the luck of the draw. If Lovren and Victor are out we might struggle -

fair point, but if suspect a lot of us may have our heads turned by mini celebrity. You only have to look on here at some who think they are celebs by look at me threads. I was on Radio Wiltshire the other day, the autograph signings have now dried up -

Turks you obviously have a problem with Um Pahars, no doubt the thought of the trappings of being a fan on the board etc turned his head, but I suspect he thought he was doing the best for the club/fans at that time. Some of us saw through the Wilde thing and understand that Rupert was not the anti-Christ, others trying to cloak their stupidity for being duped by it have to thrash out . The wounds are still there and this thread will keep the undos fresh. it would be great for the real truth to come out but sadly the people in the middle of it have kept quiet -
I suspect Howard Kendall did a fantastic job, I think he won the the league title and FA cup and more in a short period. Ok that was about 30years ago but. HR was in his job then. I was fully supportive of HR when here, and felt we would have made the playoffs in the first season down if he had stayed. The fans fans had turned and he saw the writing on the wall and jumped ship. I think we were in the play off places at the time. The deplorable way we treated players like Fuller did not help. We had been in the top tier so long the patience of the fans was low and unlike now we were not easily pleased. HR does need to spend, it is for various reasons of that I'm sure

Stone ham was in principle a decent spot, and for a business plan the better option. Now we are settled in SMS I'm pleased we did not get stone ham. -
Most of the teams around them have a game in hand as well.

i think there were a lot of others who made more out of the club. At least Lowe etc kept their shares to the bitter end wheras some sold them as soon as they were given them -
Also did you go to the fans day where we looking t raise money? All the so called fan interest was not evident then, it was a shameful turnout and it was depressing to see how few people turned up to try and raise money to help.

we would have. As for the council buying the stadium, by the time it had gone to committee and voted on,time would have elapsed and Fry would have closed us down. I wish Dubai Phil would add his bit on this as well as Clapham . I think one of the overseas bids actively involved right to the end was Mark Jackson, with money coming from the Middle East....or not. The other bid I assume were the Salz group but I don't think they had the right amount of funds to ever get the club from Fry. The difference between ML and the others was that we were his playing and he could write a cheque and put it on the table, wheras the others had more hurdles to jump before they could put money down.

the pressure in a Cup final must be immense

Nobody else has picked up on that Trousers!yes it would be interesting to. Hear his part of the story?imsure he would never tell his part in the episode
-
superb post of truth. So many still think that the club would have been saved if ML had not been there. Total madness. MLT probably the best player I have seen play for Saints, although he would be a fraction behind Big Ron and Mick Channon as my real favourite. i suspect that is because they were my boyhood heroes

you are a man of many colours Bearsy

Ings !!!!, good job you dont select for us IMO. What about that lad at Ipswich who is banging them in, McGoldrick.............same type of player. Not sure about Ince, if he has the same attitude as his father he would be no good.

Interesting what you say about Audi, we have been in Audi 3 times now and never even been acknowledged....I tell a lie, the last time they said the greeter said the salesman would come across as soon as he finished writing his e-mail Lol.

I assume this is Pompeys new forward going into training
-
interesting if the club say they want to rid the club of him and MP says he wants him to stay. Could be a problem as MP has said nobody would leave if he doesnt wish them to
