Top 3 most mental goal celebrations at a Saints Game
OldNick replied to JackanorySFC's topic in The Saints
yep, standing at the front wall of the Archers as a kid and trying to breathe as you waited for the crush of fans pressing against you before they got back to their original place after a surge. Remember how the wall collapsed at Orient when we gained promotion. It was lucky nobody was badly injured. As for Sheff Wed away in the cup when the Saints were packed in so tight, it could easily been a disaster before the Liverpool Hillsborough -
To watch Sky the footballers football show made me sick to the core. Appleton sayig that the non contract players had other offers but choose Pompey, making out that it was down to joining them not the terms! There was Reid and Mick McCarthy fawning themselves over Pompey and Appleton, never mentioning how the club had defaulted but just about the greatness of everything. Professional football is so morally corrupt, i wish i never followed the game.

Lol, every day they are still breathing they will have got away with it. This is my opinion
-
I feel this is correct. That is not me making it up and claiming it is fact of course Lol
-
lol,nice one
-
' Reading between the lines and his 'talks' with the FL I feel he has had assurances about the -10.' Where do I say it is a fact? The wording 'I feel' is the clue. Nothing to do with stating it as a fact, but my opinion. Sorry if stating an opinion is classed as fact by you
-
Those 2 deals did not have the same saga IMO. If Everton wanted Jay and offered the same do you believe he still would have picked us? i dont believe so, and suspect the deal was delayed to see who else came in.
-
is this deal Toast or not then?
-
exactly, it always seemed convenient that their biggest potential income of the season happened to be their opening home game. Had it been Stevenage etc the crowd would have been 3-4k down on that. It will be interesti9ng to see their next couple of games attendances. f they had lost against Colchester that would also have had an impact.
-
'Make thing up' lol IMHO I have been correct in many things on this, the major one is that they were not toast and will not be. I get my hopes up and then am dashed by operators far more shrewd than those on here. We make the mistake that a football club is treated the same as any other business. The sentimental and community aspect is very powerful, add the fact that it gets treated differently in tax/debt conditions. BC will be taking them over for the reason to protect as much debt as possible. The scenario of renting the ground back to the trust may come to pass, but in the meanwhile they are not toast and are yet again limping on, with quite a decent team
-
you cant write him off after 1 game, but whilst a good game makes his value seem to jump it soon comes back into reality after a poor one.
-
I recall BC's terms a week or so ago where he stated that the -10 was a reason not to proceed. It is not making stuff up, it is from my viewpoint of the situation. I have been assured many many times on here they were toast and finished but every time BC and AA have been well ahead of the game. I accept I may have jumped to a conclusion but watching the FL since Mulwhinney and they have no fibre since his departure.
-
How many young 'star of the future keepers' have we seen disappear. I recall only a season or so ago Peterboros keeper was the new starlet. Their confidence can be broken too easily, bart being another example.
-
Long winded transfer deals never seem to be a success. Rudi and Kevin Phillips are 2 that spring to mind. If a player is not bursting to join us their hearts are not in it.
-
Wasn't there talk of some of Hughes etc putting in a claim? It could well have been them
-
I dont understand the celebration on here. BC has money and will keep PFC afloat. Reading between the lines and his 'talks' with the FL I feel he has had assurances about the -10. Yet again they limped on to the start of a season and knew once the first ball is kicked the FL will do anything to keep the club alive and not have their league messed up. Pompey have got away with it and watch them improve again. Never have they been properly punished, it is galling and whilst many Skates will not go to FP as soon as their results do an upturn they will go back.
-
he'll be at Man u next then!
-
Peter Storrie may have done the counting, using the same method of calculating as he did when they went to the High court
-
I would suggest that many clubs and the PFA are watching Pompey. Why bother handing out decent contracts for players, when you can hire and fire at little risk. Ok you may miss out on the odd transfer fee but you also do not have the summer wage bills. Pompey may well be the blueprint of the future. The PFA will not like the thought that the majority of their members who are average, not having lucrative contracts. If it comes to pass that the bloated wages for low quality comes to pass, then Pompey have done a decent thing for football. I accept that clubs will wish to sign up their gems on contract but the majority, i doubt it if they had the chance.

nothing can beat the celebration at FP in 84 after Morans goal -
I will accept that you would know it better than us, (reading a later post it seems I was correct and the Pompey fan is seen about to attack the lino on the blind side.) So the fan was 'rewarded' with a lifetime ban, there is little deterrent there then
-
If a fan went onto the pitch and assaulted the linesman, what do you think a clubs punishment would be? The next game to be played behind closed doors perhaps, or some other punitive measure. A Pompey fan did so so years back and the club got away fairly scot free, it has been going on for years.

Winchester is on our doorstep and so it is no surprise they come to St Marys, you have the 'Petersfield set' that go to yours, you know the ones, they drag their knuckles along the ground whilst gripping hand bells , wear big hats and tattoos on there chests. So a lot of old faces have appeared , thank heavens for that or your attendance would have been even pporer/
