I tell what maybe cooking Mack, Pompey. Yet again though Pompey got away with it, as your top man got bail!!!! I notice in the report that they are trying the 'my family are settled here' angle and then the more subliminal message of 'i have a lot of ties here' perhaps a warning to some people in high places

that follows the trend when anyone Pomey goes to court. How can somebody be bailed on an extradition charge?

Lol too BIG a club to die. You are a small provincial club that has had some recent success on the back of bad debt and perhaps corruption. If you were a big club you would have the fanbase to show it in bad times. For decades you were wallowing around the lower leagues, only after your club took on wages and exes that you could not sustain did you float to the surface again. I do not say Saints are a big club, but have the fanbase and foundations from being established in the top league for decades, we are the bigger club with probably a larger fanbase due to our high profile for longer period of time.Neither can ever be classed as a big club IMO. Of course if we do go up to the PL and then florish and get a larger stadia that is filled my attitude may change on who is a big club. I believe your chance of being seen as a big club went when you ere on a crest of a wave and it looked like you may get a big stadium. Had you stayed up, had a new stadium and kept the team of world stars you would have been a big club, bigger than us, as you would have filled it and got a new influx of fans who are not as ingrained to either club as the diehards. If you do ever get an Afcp Iwould wish you well, but I doubt it would attain a high league status. Therefore you are stuffed if Chanrai does pull the plug, I have always said you will get away with it, but it is looking decidedly difficult if your owners are indeed financing the club. If Chanrai has to come back he will at least now have a club that is not leaking as much money and so he may bear that cost until the parchute money has been eaten up (Iassume you still have some to come) If you form

they are even bending the meaning of political asylum as most would see it. Fleeing from the arms of the law seems a little different to me, than fleeing from a foreign court in fear of your life due to political beliefs. Andrew Pomfrett at the FL should be put through FPPT as he has overseen and deflected any attempt by fans to get explanations of their actions, by allowing such people through their 'new FPPT'

Last week CSI released a statement saying: "In the light of the recent events at Snoras Bank, Convers Sports Initiatives (CSI) would like to reassure its companies, staff, and the fans of its teams and events, that it remains very much business as usual. 'Very much business as usual' is that what they should be doing!!!

Britain's top bosses are paid FIFTY times as much as in the Eighties
OldNick replied to OVER THE HILL's topic in The Lounge
to me there is the self made business where the chairman/owner gets the fruit of his work and earns what he deserves and then the fatcat who gets parachuted in on a fantastic salary. The former deserves all he gets, the later should earn on results. -
amazing how people are happy to jump on the medias grave. If it wasnt for the media would Grant indiscretions with the hooker ever come to light and Coogans drug and cheating habit? I am not hypocritcal in blasting the papers for their stories as i read them over the years. It would pretty crass now to complain. The problem i see is the overstepping of the mark, as in the Milly Dowler case. I still find it hard to believe that the majority of these people were using un-savoury techniques to gain info

I think may have sent a few e-mails out in reply exactly the same. Lol

is this last season or this seasons thread lol Looks like we may get close to selling out.

without a doubt, modern and new facilities will put extra bums on seats. To keep them there you need success and a decent team.As per Coventry the bright new stadia is still pretty empty and so paying for it becomes a burden. Pompey missed the boat when they were in the PL when they should have targeted the new ground ahead of 100k pw centre forwards. Ok the fans did get a tremendous time, but as time goes by the memories fade and the JCL's drift away again. As for the bank folding and Anatovs apparent problems how will the FL dress up their new rigorous FPPT?

whatever happens, it was a vile cowardly attack. From afar the accused look guilty as sin, but have never been found guilty. If the jury go with an open mind I dont think they can give a guilty verdict as the DNA evidence will be made to look doubtful. I hope the Lawrence family get justice and a sort of closure
-
Exactly, so are they going to refund the full s/t holders or put 2 fingers up to their loyal fan. As for Rallyboy quoting 500-700-m for the rebuild, surely tradition down there says that they get it built with all the trimmings and then default. If a lot of local businesses fold why would they care?

Of course he was the driving force behind WBA promotion, i assume he was the driving force behind their disastrous run in the PL for Di mattio to get the sack. I assume it was Di Mattio who was responsible for the defeats. i was talking to a Pompey fan last night, he was under the impression that you were paying back 60p in the £ !!!! Decent lad though, and freely admitted they had taken the p###. He said there was nothing he could have done, but just enjoyed it. He also said that the squad should be doing better, I agree with that. I do hope PFC doesnt see your spelling of fear ,as he may do a long-winded diatribe on a FERA, as some kind of furry animal i suspect. Funnily enough i'm not unhappy with the move either, it will be interesting how he deals with the high paid players who may well scoff and look down at him.

I wonder f the the worlds money men are slowly sniping each and every country. There must be big bucks to be made, the sad thing is if they push a little bit too far they lose everything as well as us

Politicians determined to keep the European dream on track, who have no idea about monetary issues will always mess up. It has a remarkable resemblance to Pompey being kept alive by the PL to keep the brands name. Brussels cannot sanction Greece going, as it would harm their image (although the rest of the world know the situation). In a realistic situation, run by economists not politicians Greece would never have been allowed in until it had sorted out its tax and pensions system. (im told that Greece only has a few citizens registered as millionaires!!!!) a society that like Italy that avoids tax to a mammoth degree. We are at the precipice and the developed world could fall into a black hole. it is a scary situation and could mean the end of a modern consumer society, and years of strife, even war.
-
good to have a the opposition leader doing so, if ever she was elected by your lot.If you are happy to have someone with those principles as the leader then Pompey is the club for you. BTW I think May should have gone, not that i know all the facts but it does look a mess, but the media do have a habit of showing it that way.

is that the one who flouted the law about using her mobile phone while driving, and then didnt wait for the police but drove off, as she was patently too important?
-
wow you picked up on a spelling mistake.Top marks to you. Trying to compare our shame of going into admin and the reckless way you did, twice Lol although the first time was understandable as you had been down swimming with the fish around the sewer pipe for decades, and so had an unsustainable business model ooooh

Yes teams like like Forest and Villa did win the league in those days, they also went on to win the European cup, those days only the winners of the leagues entered not like now. it was a time also when the English clubs dominated. As for your post saying that you were not in debt when you won the cup, you are having a complete laugh, under MM and Gaydamek the papers published the fact that you were in massive debt (50-£100m) and you came on and argued differently. We pointed out at the time that you did not have the crowds to finance it but of course you came back saying it was Gaydameks money, lol. Your club spent more than it earnt the day it took HR and PS the first time. You only have to look at any other club MM has owned since and you can see he has little money to pump in, that bunch were the first to spend spend spend, you were the Wigan of the South in footballing terms and Greece in financial terms. You spend to ife to the full but dont have the guts to take the medicine and go down the default route.
-
Pompey have won more than us, period. The majority of Pompey fans jumped aboard and jumped off again when things got tough. They dont care how the cup was won, and i dont think if the boot was on the other foot it would be any different with us. Iam irked because they never took the medicine they deserved, and still have a team that on paper could beat us. Nobody will ever take the experiences they got by the actions of their club. History will show they won the cup and people will never know how they came to do it. we may as well hold up our hands and accept they have the most major honours and whilst much was before the war, it still is on the cup. We have a bright future and they can wallow in the past

you can hear the clock tick on matchdays

If Rallyboy and Ho's info is correct then yet again british justice has yet again been shown for the nonsense it is. Hypothetically how about turning the Queens evidence and then making such a poor time of it in the box, contradicting your own evidence and so ruining any prosecution, and so torpedoing any case..Would it be possible to do so?

I was walking from Picadilly towards Knightsbridge and one of the street vendors ,was selling photos of the Churchill statue when it was vandalised with a slogan 'Churchills finest hour'. Sadly the erosion of history in schools and the trendy, 'The British were always wrong' teachings really is having an effect. Seething i walked on to see that at long last the heroes of Bomber Command are going to get their long overdue monument for their bravery and sacrifice. it is a national disgrace that it needs private money to get the monument built. I will always be eternally grateful for what these people in all the services did to let us have our modern form of freedom. Iam not a church goer, but I do visit on Remembrance Sundays

If Copout is to be appointed, it shows they are trying to go somewhere. How long was it before he chucked the job in, was it Man city?

very true lol, got sidetracked a bit there, Sorry.
