  1. WHU can say the same as us, that if they had not mucked up they could be clear. A real let off and lets hope we push on
  2. Im sure most of us have felt all along that the squad needed strengthening. It has been all so apparent when RL and RC have been out. It would be nioce if the club were positive and signed a couple of players as soon as the window opens, and not wait for the last minutes of the window closing again. i do realise that they do so to get the price down but I believe we are at a crucial stage of the clubs upward climb. Fingers crossed.
  3. Will Forest buy their players and so give them funds, that in turn keep them from getting a minus 10 point deduction? or buy a couple of their players in the hope that the players may get them some points? Difficult call, also I read somewhere that Forest had run out of money anyway
  4. The time slot it is put on is the reason viewing figures are so low. By the time MotD has come on and gone iam too tired to watch the FLS. They have tried to make the show too trendy when really all fans want to see is the action and a little bot of opinion. As for Hansen getting 40k a programme, it shows how bloated and wasteful the BEEB is. Even the radio shows are about personality rather than the music, eg The Chris Moyles show, all about him, the Syeve Wright show ditto etc etc.
  5. Lol, i know it is absurd, but it did come from somebody so close to him, i thought i would put it up. You'll all be licking out of my hands when it comes to fruition......lol
  6. I know it is laughable and don't shoot the messenger. Came from a member of his close family, between us and Brum apparently I am very sceptical but this person should know!!! i wouldn't post this if it had been from mate in the pub. He is in his 30's and whilst did a good job before I dont think he would be up to it now, but strange things do happen. i would have thought we would be aiming higher but!!! He is a free agent.
  7. He has done more for the country than you will do. Ok he has had the trappings of royalty but i doubt if many of us would want to do engagements every day when you are in your 90's and have to shake hands and be pleasant to the likes of you. You should be ashamed but of course you wont be
  8. I suppose if you were a good boy mummy would bring you out a bag of crisps to have with your coke. I can't help thinking you at a work drinks do like David Brent and the others taking the p### out of your lack of knowledge of all things, and raising their eyebrows as you started on about Pompey
  9. i can't see what the fuss is about, what has PFC now to do with the proud tradition of Portsmouth Football club from the 1940's...... afterall there have been at least 3 companies (perhaps 4 pretty soon lol)since and so have no ties to the past
  10. it is not about me personally, as Im able to look after myself to a degree. I would not expect to walk down Goldsmith ave abusing Pompey fans and not get abuse back and perhaps worse. The civil liberties argument is interesting, as what about non football fans who wish to go about their daily business but have to hide away or live in fear of rampaging football fans. Local people will be very happy how things went, and in time the police costs can be downgraded as both sets of supporters will know that you cant have a go and so will file into games like any other and just trade insults across the divides. As for indictment of modern society, surely the real aggro many of us witnessed in the late 60-70-early 80's showed the past as worse than now.
  11. yeah i remember that feeling of 84, it still sends a tingle down the spine when I watch the last few minutes and when we score, but that still doesnt cover the fact that the normal man in the street who is not a football fan gets terrorised by groups of fans who have lost all sense of reason on such days. I have no pride when i recall seeing woman and kids cowering in doorways as a group of Saints fans looking for trouble passed by. They would have been safe of course but they weren't sure. The bubble didnt stop fans hurling obsenities at each other in the ground though.Perhaps the bubble made it more accessible for families to go and so dilute the 'lad' element in the crowd, but all games when the tickets are only released to S/t holders etc did that anyway. Do you recall in the 90's when Pompey were in the old 1st division they came to the Dell and we sold only tickets to S/t holders and members on the fear of trouble ? The home section was not full and it was normal football supporters in our part, and the atmosphere was dull.So it is not the first time. The walk down Goldsmiths would only be by escort at the cost of hundreds of Police, yes an adrenaline rush perhaps but sooner or later there would be a fatality and that could never be brushed over. I assume when you do talk of walking down Goldsmiths it was in an escort, i did it in 84 when there wasn't but the police soon learn t they couldnt do that again. I can go without having a drink before and during the game, it was harsh that they let the Pompey fans have a drink, and perhaps they were more up for it due to that, but the cameras showed as they went around the ground that the majority of them should have arrived in a bingo bus
  12. The song is not to my taste but if you think that is more embarrassing than having your top fan with his entourage of stripped to the waist hangers on, on national tv, ringing his bell etc, then you have missed the plot yet again. The Fratton end has become far from intimidating now, since you have let Westwood become the leader and focus of the medias attention. It is like a Punch and Judy character in his beach hut on the Southsea beach. The cameras showed the nation the cream of your fans on the day, and it is nothing like the former mob you used to have singing. I found it funny watching a load of grannies grandads with their bottle blond hairstyles trying to intimidate from the Fratton end.Lol
  13. So the buzz is about a few fans being cornered and the s### kicked out of them by 'fans' of either side. It seems to me the 'Buzz' is standing behind a line of police and throwing obscenities at fans of Pompey. I saw too much of it in the late 60-70's to want more. All this women and kids shouldn't be there stuff is bizarre. You may want to go back to class war, rickets and adject poverty for the masses so you can get the working mans game back but like the wind up gramaphone it is rightly a thing of the past. I recall when it was unsafe for females and kids to go into the town centre on matchdays due to the trouble. I loved the buzz of 1984 when we took 6000 to FP and the tense atmosphere, it wasnt about the football it was about where the next coin/brick/attack was likely to come from. I dont want my kids to go through that, and so call me a pussy i vote for the bubble. I hope it was such a success that when they come to SMS it will be used again
  14. How can you only get an adult caution for that?????? Surely it must come under an ABH offence.
  15. Having a go at our fans because they are old and not 'lads' up for it is pathetic. Many of those 50-60 year olds were up for it when it really was tough to go to away games. Its ok now when you go to games and there are lots of police presence but go back to the 70's when the police had little experience of handling such things, and there was carnage. If going to a match means you can goad the oppo fans behind a lines of coppers but not in a bubble is more exciting then good on you. if you really want it out with Pompey fans, get in your car and stand outside FP today and give them some. You wont, because you wont have the security of Police dogs etc. The cameras panned around the ground and there was the same mix of fans in the Fratton end as there was in ours. Get over it.
  16. Im probably like many tired of reading that their time has come, only for them to keep getting away with it. How many events have happened where it looks like they are finished only for people to work out they have sidestepped the hangman. The closest they got and will ever was the day in court when the lady lost her nerve to liquidate them, this was after PS seemed to inflate their asset value to ease her concerns. Then AA came on the scene and has played this as a chess game, always being 4 or 5 steps ahead of the authorities and others with their own views. Sadly Clapham has kept out of posting recently, his was true insight into the IP's position. I would have thought that DL's wording about the asset being in the administrators hands could be a major gaff. i hope the more legally minded will be able to work that out and send it on to the right people. As for his last words on the webchat 'we're waiting' was an interesting lick up to the fans and no doubt the 'we-re coming for you' song is being used to psyche up their squad.
  17. Hey DT remember our little debates re KD?
  18. i always find it amusing when posters go on about others being illiterate or foolish etc only to spell the word wrong. Lol Stupid Boy. As for turnover ratio etc you really are stupid, so in those terms Rochdale could go out and buy star players and use the same excuse. If you have 20k gates then you can only budget to those incomings, it is like having the income of a Robin Reliant that has failed the MOT and then go out and buy a Ferrari by deceiving an old lady/charity/local business to get it. I have no doubts that some would defend our club if we had done the same, but the decent fair minded fans would hold their hands up and 'Yep, fair play we did cheat, nothing I could really do about it, but i did have a good time. Sorry but we had people who played the system and won' As an aside , as i was typing this a Swindon fan walked in and we talked about Pompeys cheating, he said he was sick of hearing about poor old Pompey and what their fans have to put up with. 'that club could teach the Italian Mafia about corruption' were his words. Lol
  19. AA and Chanrai always 3 or 4 steps ahead of the game. It would be funny if htis dodge came back and bit Hacker's by the Lith government seizing their assets
  20. our away form is adding tremendous pressure to our home games. It said on Solent that 3of the next 4 are at home. Can we expect 9 points from those home games ? i think not especially if RL is not fit. The lack of back up for RL has been obvious for over a year or so, nobody at the club seems to have tried to rectify. Yes ther have been rumours that we are after forwards but we have failed to gett one in.The loss of Chaplow and RL is telling and fans at other clubs have been scoffed at when they have stated we woud falter hwen injuries took their toll. It is only a defeat but BC was bad enough to not learn the lessons of that game is a bit worrying
  21. The main revenue stream from the game would have been the away support. I doubt there would have been that many from Coventry. The s/t money has already been used , so you can take that out of the 12k equation. As for Ronaldinho, I odubt he has played in many tight to the pitch stadia with a full house and the excitement of a european game and so on the night Im sure the atmosphere would have been great. As for Henry's name being sung Im sure he was flattered and showed his respect. It is delusional to think that you have the best fans, I hear the commentators go on about Stoke fans now, they like Pompey have loads of JCL's. Pompey were Wigan of the South, small fanbase being propped up by money from elsewhere,I think now it is a bit disrespectful to compare them with Wigan, perhpas Acrington may be more apt now
  22. I wish you lot would stop saying Pompey were toast. You fail miserably everytime as Chanrai and AA are always 3 or 4steps ahead of you. The sign when i believe they are really in the mire is if Lampit resigns ,as he will not wish to lose total credibility. How Chanrai can just put the company on a mortgage a day before they go into admin is a farce but yet again with Pompey the rules always seem to there to be bent. Pompey yet again seem to have got away with it, and whilst my sympathy goes to Mero, Mack etc I wont miss the rivalry as it isnt that important to me in respect of seeing my team win. They have shown no shame recognition or concern about their success due to the cheating, so let them take their FA cup win and then spiral into the abyss. Sadly the FA FL etc have no balls and their concern in keeping the integrity of the league will mean they will do their darnedest to let them live Pompey toast......not a hope in hell
  23. So who pays for the public sector pensions? It will be our children and childrens children. The money has to come form somewhere and if you pay £100 a week into your pension now and retire in 5years time expecting a return of say £300pw where does the growth come from to provide that. The pension companies cant promise returns like that , you cant get invested money with those returns. Please do not try and say you have been paying in for 35 years and so you have paid lots in. In that time any taxes you and I have paid have been eaten up by our use of the NHS, our childrens education caring for the elderly and sick, keeping us safe etc etc etc. The fact is that if you spend as a nation mare than you earn you are in trouble. It's not anti public sector (although i will admit a % of them do get on my nerves) it is a case of basic budgeting. The public sector pensions has been a timebomb that governments have all pushed into the future and sooner or later it has to be addressed. The growth of the public sector has made it nye impossible for the country to pay. I feel that there should be a timeline to when the new pension agreements come in, e.g if you have only 5 or less years to retirement then perhaps the terms should stay but only if they retire the same age as the private sector
  24. no paid leave if you are self employed. In times gone by the public sector received less than the private sector as they had the good pension. Now it seems there is parity expectations as well as early retirement and a good pension. I cant see how modern society can survive at this rate. The gov has borrowed to build schools hospitals and for the armed forces, pensions, welfare etc etc . Where do you all think the money is coming from to pay for it? We are acting like the head in the sand Pompey fans and not thinking it through. We have for a decade spent more than we have earned as a nation and sooner or later we have to pay it back. Ok you can tax the banks a bit more, so they charge their customers a bit more, but that is not earning/saving the money we need to get back to some kind of sensible debt. I had hoped that there would be some real action taken on finding the waste (not necessarily cutting jobs)and eliminating that as a way forward. There are a few on here who have pointed out their own experience in working in the public sector and the waste they have seen. How about getting the grass roots to point out the inefficiencies that the managers just dont seem to? Im sure there are some who have sympathy for the public services but in these times it is hard to really fully support their campaign.
  25. if you take Lawrence into consideration as well !(although leaving his wages off the list leaves a lee-way in case some of the other salaries are overinflated) I would have thought the main revenue they took on saturday came from the travelling support as the majority of the rest would have already been banked as S/t money and then a lot of kid and free tickets. Im not sure if they ow their club shop, but that must have sold items and then the catering. it really is scraping the bottom of the barrel. I feel as long as Lampit stays it would show a sign there is funds around, but I doubt he would want his integrity harmed and so would resign if it looks as if the club was about to go.
