  1. shows the suns influence on us. It may in time make us look at global warming differently
  2. this was not the first boycott, and there was real discontent and division. I dont know when the publicised boycott started but it was there for a long time before the lad organised a march. I spent years debating about Lowe and co. Our fans have boycotted before the Lowe era, if you want to really get your tissues out go back to when Branfoot was manager and the fans boycotted then. i think we had a crowd of 11k at that time. Your fans are not boycotting, they are JCLs and only joined in when you were buying top internationals and you were a PL club. You were a backwater club for decades and only in the last few years when the dodgy owners came in have you raised your profile. I still believe you will do ok this season as you still are paying high wages compared to your income.Saints have had a long time to build the fanbase and that is why we command big crowds, had you stayed in the top division for decades you may well have the bigger fanbase, it didnt happen and we took over and built on it
  3. there was heavy snow, the A36 was closed as it was nearly impossible to get over Pepperbox hill. That would have stopped many to get to the game, i know it stopped us. The same would have been from other directions as well
  4. Angola!!! well that makes it better then. Another country that had a senseless and corrupt war.Shameful. Personally I dont think the Pompey fans have any control over their owners, I wouldn't with us, but I would be ashamed how the club got to where it was and would not then brag about it. Slowly the penny is dropping with nations football fans , they are now waking up to the disgrace the club is and there are fewer who look on you as a good football club. You are tied y your loyalty to the club that you grew up with, I understand that, but to trumpet how great they are is not so great. You have had 6 or 7 years of success built on very dubious foundations, you got lucky and lived the dream, just stop squealing now you have to pay something back (poor wording for Pompey)
  5. I was not aware that he didnt want to join us.
  6. Blackpool were also a PL club that loaned him last season. The club should do a straight swap with Gorkks
  7. As for our current squad, I think by the end of the window we will have 20 players and if they have to be loan players or bench / squad fillers then so be it because I DO NOT want to see a repeat of players signing on 15-20k a week and us taking a gamble and ending up yet again in the same place in 2-5-10 years time, enough is a enough FFS ,end quote I see the irony on that post Mero
  8. Lol it is not an attack on saints fans, it is how I saw my actions now on reflection.
  9. Lol senile old fool, you are not wrong there. You miss the point , and so perhaps you and me are a pair of senile old fools
  10. Thanks Bletch, exactly what i was trying to convey. The Dell was going to be demolished, there was going to be an auction to sell the seats etc. The mob took over that day and i saw even the seats in the dug out being carried away. It was not our property and could be seen as looting. Normal decency was left behind as people ripped out the seats anyway the could. You are right that perhaps (not excusing it in anyway) that some may have been dragged into the looting in London etc, who would never normally do so
  11. SM it does not compare, but I was trying to convey (badly as usual) that in the mass frenzy of watching my fellow fans ripping up the seats as well, i did involve myself in something that was a kind of looting as the authorities did nothing to stop it and I joined in. I would put myself as a normal decent citizen, but I lost sight of what i was doing and the wrong. Iam totally against the looters but perhaps it showed that some of us can be drawn into these things, and whilst it would be seen as different, in a way I was robbing from my loved one and so may be seen as worse in a funny kind of way.
  12. well we didn't have a flag put on our seats to wave, with the slogan don't forget to bring it to the next game. That surely would have brought our attendance up
  13. It is very simple, they could, as law had broken down. I suggest there will be quite a few who do regret it now, and fearing that their picture may be put up by the authorities. There will be many parents who will be ashamed what their offspring got up to, many won't give a toss. In a way I still feel a bit guilty as I look at the seat i took from the Dell that day. The stadium was looted by people who would never do such things normally. There i was pulling my seat out, not because i thought it was mine, but because the rest of the fans were and the police stood and watched.. Shameful, as i was with my daughter who would have been only 11-12 As an aside i thought Hazel Blears was very good when interviewed today, (I normally have no time for her) she tried making no party political points, but stated she was going to try and get the parents prosecuted as well as the young kids.
  14. How are the authorities going to stop this? It is a very dangerous situation where the trouble can pop up anywhere

    Riots

dont worry all the Wolfie Smiths in the Uni will be planning their Freedom to the people speeches as they work out where the nearest Ipad can be knicked lol
  16. notice the name Miss Gucci, I wonder what type of shops she will be looking to loot, it wont be Primark, but of course she will be from a deprived area so its all ok
  17. I love it when the Wolfie Smiths get on their soapboxes, I can see it in the University common rooms, as for your last inane sentence, it depends what you call poor, does that mean somebody who had only one pair of shoes to go to school with, 1 school shirt, and left to roam the streets in the 60's during the holidays as your parents were both working? My idea of poor and deprived is the kids in Somalia, not kids who have mobile phones, food to eat, designer clothes trainers, and Sky tv when they get home.
  18. Saintbletch, a wonderful post and I can see how people are mesmerised by so romantic beliefs. You may be right but please accept my cynicism not as a criticism of your decent principles, but to me I can't get past the belief that the last few days have been seized by opportunists. My daughter said last night that lots of peoples status on Facebook was 'Lets go looting' Only joking of course but? I'm one of the silent majority in our society who gets on with life and not looks to someone else to blame. Yes Im sure there are deprivations and there always will be as nice people do not always rule communities, and resources are spread thinly. The gangs rule in these areas and must be pretty frightening. How can the decent people come to the top of these areas when the Police cannot get law and order? The accusation of harassment everytime and is used IMO to avoid the law, hinders the Police and in turn the community. I dearly wish for society to be happy but too many hide away from personal responsibility and I read with interest the post regarding schools and teachers in those areas difficulties. If I heard on the radio correctly this morning, the Hackney riot started after the police did a stop and search regarding a gun.The Police trying to make the area safer are then impeded.
  19. the cause for the first riot was down to a peaceful protest turning ugly, perhaps due to agitators/anarchists. Please do not tell me that the rest has anything less than taking advantage of the lack of police resources. Funny how Footlocker, Currys JJB sports, Vodafone shops and the like are the reason for all the wrongs in these peoples eyes, as they attacked their property. What about the furniture shop in Croydon, 150 years they have been established, i assume they are the reason for these people to riot. It hurts to say it but our society is riddled with people who want to get something for nothing.
  20. i think it may well be closed for other reasons now
  21. Wenger will be pleased
  22. people always want to make excuses for the young who wish to take advantage of anarchy. The majority were not disadvantaged as they were wearing good trainers and decent brand clothes (before the looting)
  23. it also seems to me that his father enjoys wallowing in the lads sun. Perhaps not being in the limelight for a long time has been missed. I am happy as our club has recieved a massive injection of funds and so thank-you Ox, I hope you have made the correct decision(his father) The Arsenal fans I have spoken to are not that enamored as they want experienced players not potential for this season, not for 5 years time
  24. playing with their reserves will not give hime the grounding that playing every week in the Championship will.He seems a decent young lad but having more money than sense and the distractions at a young age may well damage him. Money will be the major consideration on the decision IMO.
  25. there are 2 situations to consider, where will the best place to be to learn your trade and where will you make most money. If you really are serious about becoming a top player you should think long and hard where you can learn. At 17 playing in the Championship every week would get you ready for the next level. If money is your first priority then Arsenal is the place to go
