in your opinion he played people in the wrong position/bad tactics/subs etc. The difference between a pro football manger and a fan is that he has to put his head on the chopping block if his decisions go wrong. Fans team selections always play a blinder, never have an off day and aren't sulking because their wag didnt sha# them before the game. There has never been a manager at SFC I didnt agree with all the time. LM played some awful formations/players IMO, WGS likewise. I doubt anybody could run our club with the politics and backbiting going on at that stage, Gb did ok in the circumstances, and still got us the closest to the PL.

perhaps we should make the club a listed company then........ohhhh

How much was it put down as on the creditors report. if it was only projected but was put in a a full debt and this ha[ppened many times over, it would put another doubt in on AA's figures
-
That would be good news.

DD it was an example where we did look a good team. the play off semi final second leg ,we were superb. There were many games where we played good football. There was a problem where he didnt play some fans favourites and so they went off on one. At this moment in time i wish that Wilde and co spalshed out 10's of millions more to get us up and we could now like our neighbours still be enjoying the fruits of the PL riches.

Did AA say that Udinese were not contactable!!!!!!! I bet had they been the casting vote to save his plan he would have got on a plane and made sure they were. It seems the fans on here are the only ones concerned at the whole wepisode, and next season we will hear about how wonderful it is that Pompey have been saved by those in the media...get the sick bag

sky is very good and I have just renewed to go back on it. I do think though their monopoly is not a good thing, what stops them really whacking up the fees? Also it gives more money to the greedy players longterm.
-
i think any non votes are seen as an acceptance of his plan. I wonder how many forms could go missing,or are they sent recorded delivery.
-
Lol, perhaps you see it as that way. It is not my intention but I suppose it may come over like that. More like we are all feeling sore that Pompey at this time are getting away with it and taking things badly. Surprisingly, I still believe that there may be a chance of a sting in the tail and the HRMC may well contest this, but it is the last chance for them to stop a travesty happening. Im sure we will get some sickly posts from Ho crowing on here. The whole chapter smacks of a cover up to me, and as Dubai has also posted I have a feeling there are too many people in important places who have had a slice of the pie and are desperate for it never to be found out. How come Lampitt was parachuted in from a safe job to one that in theory would be gone a few weeks later, and PS left at his post for so many weeks???

Im expect GB does like a drink, so do most of us. Time and again I heard these stories of him out of his brain etc, but not once did anybody have a mobile with a camera to show it. That was at little SFC, he then became Scotlands manager where the tabloids would be looking to set him up.Can anyone show me articles in the NOTW or any other paper with such an expose. i think people should feel ashamed that they peddle this stuff ,mainly by hearsay, like petulant kids just because they didnt like the way he was managing the football team. If the fans had been behind him and not picking away perhaps we could have done better. The fans singing Burley for Scotland etc could hardly be helping the team. This season i an concerned that due to the fans expectations they will be a negative as if things dont go well early on ,some will get on the backs of the manager/ team/players

Viking I dont have any pro Pompey thoughts, I have just looked at it from where iam and felt how it was turning out. I think saying I have a smug told you so attitude, is very unfair. I have not come on and said 'I told you so' . Iam still hoping that Clapham etc who are very clued up will prevail. This mornings news that Cotterill has been appointed may well underline my thoughts that Chanrai will indeed go for promotion and already favours are being pulled in from HR.

Had Theo left when GB arrived? I can't remember, must be the booze

Stu I was surprised that the club did not send out renewal forms and feel sorry for fans who dont have access to a computer/or unable to use one. Every ticket unsold due t this means it is a false economy. I get the impression that the club speak as one voice...................and 1 voice only, i dont think anybody else dares speak up against it. IMO RL was never as singleminded as NC and only in time will we see if that is good or bad. Iam still for the club and he route it is taking, there will be casualties on the way but the big picture is all important

the trouble is Frank Spencer seems to have been given the job to fix it
-
Tommi, we do have some top insolvency experts on here, but they must be as confused as many others how this has panned out. Im certain any other business would be dogmeat by now. I respect the others views but have felt all along that there are dark forces at play. I look forward to being proved wrong, as that means Pomey will have indeed paid for their transgressions and the memories they have enjoyed.

If the new manager is not unveiled today after all ,perhaps the wheels have been put into motion.
-
People are we forgetting that there was D&G between the 2 managers. Each pre season the heart was ripped out of the team. If we lost Lambert Fonte and Morgan now , how do you think AP would be able to cope for the new season? Jones left on the eve of the new season and luckily (most on here didnt rate the player at the time) GB got SJ in who scored 20+ goals. i think you will find GB also made a profit on his purchases, Andrew Davies, turning a forgotten defender into a PL player, and risking plaing a 17 year old kid who also did the same. He may not be our best manager ever but he wasnt as bad as some make out.
-
I said the same a while ago.Terry the builder (a pompey fan) was owed something like 50k. That included his profit for the work (not sure of the vat). Therefore the cost to him personally was low ,especially after he can put it against his tax. He was never going to bring the club down, but perhaps use the story to get more business due to his hard luck story ,without hurting his club
-
I agree that not sending renewals through the post is a cost saving that could back fire. NC is a very clever businessman and must have good reason for not doing so. I suspect there might be a sudden rush of forms going out if the take up is low. Perhaps its all part of the plan to move the Northam. Knowing those S/t holders are most likely to be more militant and of the 'Im not renewing because....' mindset. The takeup will be lower and so easier to move those that are there. I myself would be happy to do so if it means a proper Kop end.
-
I agree that the HMRC will have to make an appeal especially after their statement alludes to a fix. Perhaps Phils (I think it was him) position was that Chanrai and co want the club to fold, and by it going back to court they could get their way
-
I'm left handed. The outcome you seem to be alluding to, does seem to be losing its excitement. I've a feeling that the excitement has gone as the font doors slammed and somebody has come home early
-
I agree that it is surprising that the HMRC were the only ones to vote against it, but remember those said agents dealt with them in the first place. I doubt they wish for the truth to be aired either. Taking a dive for 'the team' I suggest. Forget not, there is a lot of future business with Pompey /HR and co in the future to make it up
-
I will not rise to the bait Mr Warrior. Iam not a Pompey fan, but just been realistic in my assessments. Frustrated all the same by their flagrant cheating and abuse of decent people.
-
Lol, well I cant keep my happy demeanor too long, now can I
-
I think it is a case of whether the HMRC can show that he moved the figures to suit. Looking back at the time when it was in court the HMRC said they were owed 11m, it seems their figure jumped as dramatically as Pompeys debt. The moment the lady judge gavve them 7 days that quickly turned into 2 weeks the whole balance changed
