Yeah but if you look at it another way, like Liverpool and Spurs being able to pillage us for staff/players etc then he has a point. he's just worded it wrong imo. Some are able to look past the literal text and still manage to form an answer in context with what he really means.

If you actually deconstruct his post he makes a valid point about struggling to push on to the next level. You're unfortunately unable to do that, especially when it gives you the opportunity to belittle another poster.

Its going to happen sooner or later. Unfortunately the last 6 or so years of success seem to have developed a bit of a winning expectation amongst some of our younger fans and even some of the older ones. To answer your question, the only way to do it is for someone to pump unlimited millions into the squad like man city for example. ATM if we threaten to dislodge clubs like spurs and liverpool (who have the same aim as us) then they will pillage us. They can both outspend us not only on transfer fees but more importantly, wages. They are historically bigger clubs as well. If we had an Arab billionaire in charge that was willing to give players up to 100k a week then we would be competing with the top 4 by now as our players would've been priced out of the market. In short, we are punching above our weight and the bigger clubs don't like it.

Koeman has told them that they have a big opportunity to show him what they're made of. I very much hope that one or two of them step up and take this opportunity to try and push themselves into the match day squads for next season.

I personally don't rate Jenkinson at all but then again, I haven't seen a great deal of him. On another board I post on there's a sporting fan who says Soares was a steal and thinks he'll slot in no problem. Hopefully he's right! Edit: this is what he had to say on Soares; He's only about 5'6'', because of that he's great at getting forward and getting involved in the passing/attacking play up and down the right hand side. He got sent off in the Portuguese cup final but it was uncharacteristic of him as it was his first ever sending off so in that respect he is a very level headed player. I doubt he'll chip in with as many goals as Clyne. He looked very solid defensively for us this season so he will slot straight into your back line with ease, it's an exciting signing and I wish him well

Tbh I do think Lovren is a very very good defender BUT, he needs a leader next to him marshalling the line. Liverpool bought him to be that man and he just hasn't got the leadership skills. If he came back IMO he'd revert back to being a good classy defender again. Unfortunately for him, whilst his head was stuck in Liverpool it didn't realise that Brendan is tactically naive.

Easily my favourite saints player ATM. They were looking at his game on sky a while back and praising his reading of the game. Took a little time to adapt when we first got promoted but he's come on leaps and bounds. Making him captain was a master stroke tbh. Seems to have given him even more confidence. Always said that Liverpool bought the wrong cb from us.

Reina is way past his best now IMO. Been a bit hit and miss since his shockingly quick decline for Liverpool. Would be decent back up but he wants first team football, so not sure he'd want to come here knowing when Fraser returns he'd likely be our no.2.
