  1. A Desperate ... situation
  2. Really? Extraordinary.
  3. Nice one. And how long before a Chinese takeover bid rumour starts?
  4. Bartholomew is a Portuguese name, you know.
  5. Shame on you, and your like. You bring discredit to SFC supporters.
  6. ... because you saw it listed as a home game in Saturday's programme? lol, you could be be on your own. It's an way game according to the OS.
  7. I think we should be putting out our best team for starters, rotating players later when we are two goals up to keep them fresh for Saturday. There is no reason why we cannot win the League Cup. Then a strong finish aiming towards the play-offs.
  8. I don't agree that Guly was less good at all. he gave a clever dink to the left that wrong-footed Leeds and led directly to Hammond's goal at a crucial early moment in the game.
  9. Tremendous match! But Fonte deserved more votes I reckon. He stopped everything Leeds threw at him, almost killing him at one point. Fonte is Portuguese for Iron!
  10. Good to read about Saints again, staring with this entertaining live match report on The Guardian website. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/06/championship-southampton-leeds-united-live As I saw the match. And interesting observation on the dubious penalty: "Clayton tries to flick the ball inside and Aaron Martin is penalised for handball. It's a contentious decision, given by the linesman, as the ball seemed to roll up Martin's chest before looping off his shoulder. It certainly wasn't intentional, even if his arm did flap against the ole leather sphere." My take, Leeds profited from their rough tactics in the end because the extra four minutes were largely the result of Saints players on the floor, injured by dirty tackling. But who cares? We won emphatically! Any more?
  11. Are ITK that he'll be playing Saturday then, and clairvoyant too??
  12. Correction: "The bowler's Holding, the batsman's Willey"
  13. Famously in cricket, in opposing team's (forget which test) Brian Johnston on Test Match Special: 'The batsman's Holding, the bowler's Willie'
  14. That's about right.
  15. Don't disagree with GM. You know he's always right.
  16. I haven't seen the video so thanks for the update. We now have for the first time, since Ted Bates's time in charge, a Chairman and owners who we supporters respect and trust. Last time we were in the Championship we, the fanbase, generally believed that we had a right to be promoted back to the Premiership. Correct me if you don't agree, but I think that now we know that we must earn that honour.
  17. It is well known that the 'Southampton Style' is about tactical versatility, and the art of moving players out of position to deliberately confuse opponents. So expect more surprises, against West Brom for starters and during the season. Such as .... Oxo will move to the centre (also to appease him) and Cork will lead the attack from time to time. The mystery striker to be signed will be a CB, and Lallana will be switched to goal to allow Kelvin, our best shot taker (during training sessions) take penalties while Rickie remains injured. (That was a bad dream I just had. Dreamt that Burley was back in charge.)
  18. Quite smart. Nice wide stripes. Pity the 'aap' logo isn't higher up the chest though, imho.
  19. This one? '10 minutes left for him to reveal he is a personal friend of Harry 'More slippery than a kipper grabbing a piggyback on a jellyfish' Redknapp. ' lol
  20. Bring back Papa. He's fast, tricky and opportunistic in the goalmouth.
  21. I'd rather have papa back. What's the latest news about him
  22. Mid-table, and if we are slightly in the top half we will be on target imo for promotion within Nicola's 5 years.

    Ryan Doble

A bit early to be criticising Ryan, isn't it? We have a long pipeline of emerging talent coming through and Ryan, like them, all have to cut their teeth on loans which might take a few years in their progress towards CCC level playing. Not all young players develop at the same rate. Getting games is the most important thing at this stage in their careers. Be patient ffs.
  24. I won't be renewing either. Far too expensive now. And no concessional rates either. The thing is, everyone who isn't renewing has to reply and tell them why.
  25. So we are just like Barcelona then. Because we lost Theo to Arsenal
