Gaston could be given more game time, after his good 10 minutes and assist yesterday.
-
Scouser supporters in my London pub thought that was a joke MOM too.

I can't believe that Vic would want to miss the Liverpool game. If he is angling for playing with a top four club next season this is the perfect showpiece match for him to show his skills. If he scores 'pool will expect to buy him, as they do, but he can do better than that (given he is likely to be off at the end of season).

I'm putting it down to fear of playing Saints that cost Rodgers his job

That's an interesting insight. It begs a question, how fit are we now in comparison with Pochettino's side after his first summer of intensive pre-season training? Sometimes we look tired during the second half. (Against Leicester our players had returned from overseas internationals which was a factor on that occasion). We don't seem to press so intensively nowadays (though we are better defensively than in Poch's time here) so can we claim to be fitter than Liverpool this season? Fitness and recovery from injuries as well as tactics may be the deciding factor on Sunday. I'm going for 2-2, a sensational strike from Mane, with a goal each side down to defensive mistakes.

Well, this is the next cup game
-
.. or make successful assists like our other ex-player Nathan Dyer.
-
He wasn't so good in goal though. Didn't like to get his clothes muddy.
-
For fellow oldies. Was Don Roper a free signing? I remember, as a nipper, when he came into the team his experience alongside young Paine and Sydenham improved morale and helped Saints improve performances at a bad time for the club.
-
That could be Gazza's best chance to advance his career.
-
A player might well have his own insurance policy against injury but I'm not sure that the club would have an insurance policy against players injuries. Burley once told me that the club did not (then) insure for player injuries as the costs would be prohibitive. Correct me if the situation has changed.
-
Nathan Dyer on. Now where have I heard that name?
-
Brilliant play - we are the new Leicester!
-
is that all? Brilliant- clearly a good omen! Keep looking!
-
Converse to the ' Premier League Clubs record buys' thread, who were our best free signings, anyone? (Booby Prize goes to the first person who mentions Ali Dia)
-
And then he will complain of bias because he's not getting tax credits
-
Perhaps we could have been fifth had we not had so many player changes this summer, but with our current squad we can end the season higher than Raneiri's Leicester (injuries permitting). Had Raneiri been in charge I doubt that we would be as high as 9th right now, because Ron has assembled a class team here with some brilliant signings.
-
Why would Ronald take the Dutch job -if it were offered. They are out of Europe.
-
..... last as long as chips wrapped up in a dirty newspaper
-
I thought we were playing Leicester, not the ref.
-
That is ironic, since the big clubs don't want their players to play in internationals in case they get injured.
-
Inknockuous (sorry)
-
Shockingly good?

That is a very impressive read. It reminds me that in the early 90's, soon after we moved to the new stadium there was a programme on telly about Saints Academy that was serialised for a few weeks. Does anyone have a copy? It would be interesting to see which youngsters featured in it, and if there were names we would recognise now.
-
But that doesn't answer my point. He can't be that bad to score the goals he has.
