One last thought for Pardew. He will be sacked now. But he did kick start our revival by bringing Rickie to the club.
-
Well, they are bottom of the table tonight because we thrashed them. But you're right.
-
Got mine. I can''t wait to see how the new Saints compare with last year's Saints at the Emirates. I think we have a good chance to upset the London media.
-
Not as easy as ranting - apparently. 2-1 Saints

He had a great season with us, and made some very good sprints and crosses, but not as good as Nathanial Clyne on the right who scores goals.

That is true, sadly. Whether lessons have been learned or not by many of us could be debated for ever. Are we wiser after the events. I think we might be, just a little... ... until the next crisis. But certainly serious abuse of any kind should be exposed on here.

Isn't this being covered eloquently and in more detail on the Judgement Day thread? Reconciliation following this summer's painful and worrying crisis that affected everyone in different ways would be better than righteously demanding apologies. Anyone who publicly abused individual members of the board including Katherina was out of order, and they could apologise directly privately or publicly. It is a matter of their own conscience imo.

Boric should equally be honoured for conceding a goal to the longest strike in history.

Good point. St Mary's is the ONLY place that ANYONE will let me sing!

Pardew doesn't seem to be popular with anyone these days, including many Saints supporters. Yet he began the turn around in our fortunes when he was appointed manager by Marcus. And let's not forget that he brought Rickie to St Mary's. When we are 3-0 up, and he is being booed by Newcastle fans there can only be one response from us: 'THERE'S ONLY ONE ALAN PARDEW' (In the unlikely event that we are losing, forget it!)
-
I'm not sure. Tell us. I'm just remembering a figure that was bandied around at the time when our unloved, newly appointed and soon departed financial director highlighted 'financial difficulties.'

Mods, there are so many well argued views here on one of the most historically important times in Saints long history, is there any way of saving this thread for posterity for future historians? I certainly would like to read through it again in a few years time.

A well considered analysis. Thank you for sharing this, Papa.

We stlll owe around £30 mill for the Staplewood improvements, so at this time our historic debt could be cleared. Or could we keep this as a loss-making expense to offset tax? Are there any other Premiership clubs who are paying their way (apart from perhaps Arsenal)?

It will be interesting to see if the press and media's negative attitudes to saints since the early exodus improves/ Certainly so far in too many sections of the media there has continued to be an attitude that Saints' promising start to the season has been mainly due to Schneiderin who they regard as being already a pre-big club signing on 'temporary loan' to Saints, with further insiduous comments to other want-aways playing for us. As if we have no right to be fielding the best players. Let's see Saints prove them wrong. Let's see of

An excellent summer of signings, thanks to the drawing power and respect that Big Ron has throughout Europe. I'm sad about losing Gaston for a year, but perhaps he will come back an improved player if he gets regular starts.at Hull. I have to say that the Board has made up for early mistakes in first signing Koeman, and backing his vision. Roll on the new Saints!

Gaston Ramiez to Hull on Season Long Loan - Official
eelpie replied to NorthamSteve's topic in The Saints
This is quite stupid. Ramirez is a playmaker. He made a difference when he came on at West Ham. Koeman said our squad was too small and he would not leave. What is going on? -

A great afternoon. Well done Saints. Well done Big Ron. The season has begun! This is the best report I've read of the match http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/west-ham-united-vs-southampton-match-report-morgan-schneiderlin-brace-earns-ronald-koeman-first-saints-win-9701481.html (And the Daily Star is not surprisingly by far the worse for incoherent rambling): http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/397192/West-Ham-1-Southampton-3-Morgan-Schneiderlin-puts-a-cork-in-his-whine
