Saints 8 (Eight) Sunderland 0 - Match and Reactions
eelpie replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Let's also not forget that we have a smaller squad than the so-called big boys. So much depends on keeping injuries to a minimum. Some players - ie Forster - are indispensable. Our skill is indisputable, and we are capable of beating anyone in the Prem now -with our best players on the pitch. What a team we have! -
We have some top clubs still to play during this half of the season. Too early to predict on the basis of some relatively easy games so far.

Managed to find out what Guly is up to nowadays!

O Ye of little concentration. You have missed his scoring jig -

Cool man We don't need Sammy Saint. We need Guly G10! -
For those who are serious about their history

Brings to mind visiting the Southampton Titanic exhibition on my way to a Saints match last season, and the tragic map of where Southampton's crew had lived, largely around the Saint Mary's area of the town . (Sorry, not Great War related, but it did bring home to me how close to our times past history is.) -
Welcome back the summer roller-coaster ride (following on from the January one) We have so many new internationals players that the top 6 want to buy and put in their reserves in an attempt to weaken dangerous Saints. If this goes on we will become so rich that we will be able to buy their top youth talent that they cannot train. And sell them back at more hefty profits. That is our business plan
-
Who?
-
Yes. And we need to get him into the England squad (with Bertrand) Then we have a full house
-
That is why we are doing well now, and just as well we are. Looks like the media are stitching us up for a public fall, so they can be proved right. We can disappoint them!
-
You jest
-
I'm afraid that says quite a lot about you.
-
You might be confusing SFC with Portsmouth. They went down, down, down because, although ambitious, sustainable growth was everything they weren't. Nothing can be guaranteed in football, but sensible planning for growth cannot be confused with lack of ambition

Poch had planned this match for some time. His team were not suffering from post European competition as they had been in the past because they had rested their best 10 players from the competition. This was the match that he HAD to win. And his players were up for it, galvanised even more by the moronic continuing and stupid anti-Poch chants of Saint fans. So man for man, Spurs were sharper and quicker. His pressing style versus our more measured approach was prevailing and there was not much we could do about it. We were pressured into mistakes and there wasn't much that Koeman could do about that. Spurs had the edge and wanted the result more than our players on the day. But we will beat them at home if we learn from our mistakes - from both players and fans.
-
Interesting that he rested 10 of his team for the Europe match before playing Saints. Sunday's match was his priority.
-
Saints have regained possession 52% this half so far according to Beeb.
-
No Forster. We have no other Prem quality keeper.
-
He left in an underhand and deceitful way. He also gave us some sublime football moments during his temporary stay here. So, I won't be booing for too long. Time moves on, and we will destroy spuds anyway

Brilliant, so fantastic! Graziano's story is every bit as stunning as Saints renaissance. We don't do too badly at helping to rejuvenate players careers, do we!
-
Oh dear, Graziano might unwittingly persuade Osvaldo to return...
-
In that case it's all fiction
-
How many keepers did they play?
-
Ooh don't say that
-
It's criticism from us 'bedwetters' that woke the club out of its summer torpor, didn't you know....

For those who are scathing about Artur Boruc, just remember how we fared when he was injured last year.
