The (valid) point he’s making is we have been limited on what we can spend on our PSR allowance. We had a net spend of c £63m. £35m was spent on keeping two players from the previous year, essentially to stand still. I’m sure the club would have tried to spend a lot more than that if they could. £63m investment into the team (in my opinion) was never going to be enough to keep us up. Ipswich by comparison have a net spend of £104m. They’re probably still going to go down. Forest spent £160m to scrape staying up (and got points deduction in the process). Whether spending more under SR leadership would have made a difference, probably not based on their track record of transfers. But we have been limited on what we can spend, that’s a fact.

Sums up my feelings exactly.

They need to have those bad windows first.

What a weird post. You do know the person you’re responding to joined the forum in 2006? That’s one hell of an inside job if you’re insinuating Russell Martin planted someone on a football forum 18 years before getting the managers job to fight his corner. They’re also saying they are enjoying watching us play, its an opinion, which they’re just as entitled to have as you are yours.

Ramsdale, KWP, THB, Bednarek, Taylor, Downes, Fernandes, Lallana, Dibling, Archer, TP.

Chances are extremely high to be fair.
-
“Someone like Martin whose actually achieved something”… then naming Robbins who Martin has achieved more than… quality.
-
Talking about crisp packet wrists, it would be interesting to have seen the reaction for Leicester’s winner, had Bazunu conceded it.
-
Time to whip the triple captain out in Fantasy Football this week.
-
I’d have Lallana in for Manning, but it’s a reach to say it’s atrocious.
-
Aside from Manning, what’s wrong with it?
-
I remember us being 3-0 up at half time and thinking we’d played pretty poorly on the whole. Amazing result, what a team we had.
-
I don’t subscribe to that notion, we finished a whopping three points behind Leeds and beat them three times in the season. We fully deserved to go up. I agree with the rest though.

Not this time, Farmer Saints turn. It is my opinion, the bloke was literally on TV the other day trying to tout himself for the Utd and England job. His stock is still relatively high, he’s not going to jeopardise that by coming here to very likely get relegated. I’m looking forward to when we don’t appoint him though, it’ll give you another chance to blame Rasmus 👌
-
I’m confused, I thought we were a complete joke with Rasmus and Co in charge? Why would he put himself through that?
-
I know you’re determined to hate everything about last season, but that statement is hilarious.
-
Sorry but that’s just utter nonsense.
-
He doesn’t need to be in for a top 6 job - West Ham, Palace, Everton, even Wolves are all better options than we are, whose jobs could be available soon. He’s also shown he’s not scared to take a job abroad. He’s not coming here. We’re a whole different level of bin fire.
-
Potter isn’t remotely interested in coming here.
-
Marsch was when we were still in the Premier League with Ankersen and co in charge. He turned us down due to length of contract offered. Martin was appointed after relegation when Wilcox was in charge.
-
Only if he’s off to the Orthodontist
-
No he didn’t.
-
Exactly, surely ‘circumstantial evidence’ would be ex Man City staff member appointing manager to play like Man City. This notion seems to have reared its head again based on a comment by Alex Crook, FFS.

Martin was Wilcox’s choice. His first choice was Maresca, when that didn’t happen he went after Martin instead. Wilcox was given control of football operations, he’d need SR sign off on things but he was in charge. Rasmus wasn’t involved last summer, he was with Goztepe. I told you where that has come from, whether you believe it or not I don’t care. I know it must be hard for you, when every other one of your posts is anti-Ankerson, but believe it or not he’s not to blame for everything.
