it's not working for me - it says:

"Player has received an empty RTMP URL."

and that, after a completely inept sign-up form. What a joke!

I get the same,******* annoying !

And when I tried to look at the "my account"-button,it says "your subscription is inactive"

WTF ?

to add insult to injury,I have been withdrawn £ 3.99 twice this month aswell..

the customer service is useless, they just send out these standard-e-mails instead of actively going in and fix my account..grrrr.

anyone here had the same problem ??

wow - so after filing in two different sign up forms, dealing with a ton of broken links (did they do any testing on this site?!) I've paid my money and... the stream is cutting in and out every 5 seconds. This is a horrible service!

Working fine but quite a few buffering jumps.

techie head on - if you're getting the google search page (and potentially for the other issues) it will most likely be your ISP having cached the Saintsfc.co.uk DNS record. Not much Saints can do about that. Turn off 'search from address bar' to confirm the DNS lookup failure.

Anyone know if when you sign up for the saints player it is a 12 month contract or can you cancel after the 1st month? Only gonna need it for a month. Cheers.

Glad it isn't just me then.

Link wouldn't work on PC but managed to get it on my daughters lap top. Signal keeps cutting out for about a second every few minutes and the actual commentary team make Cope plus whoever was with him on any particular week top class ;)

Also the build up was more about Eastleigh than SFC and now they have left our game for an up date from Eastleighs game. Isn't this service that we are paying for suppose to be exclusively for SFC

Also the supposedly seamless transition to Saints Player from Saints TV was impossible to fathom out till the other link on here advising people to use 'password' as the password instead of your own one :???:

Lost count the amount of times I was redirected to the page telling me to sign in or that I wasn't a signed up member

All in all NOT IMPRESSED

I couldn't even get into the log-in page for Saturday's match but am in okay today. I am also suffering the same buffering problems as everyone else.

Personally, I never had any problems with Saints TV and preferred the set-up on there as well.

I'm not happy with this new player but it's the only way an ex-pat like me can listen to a Saints match.

Grrrrr!!!!!!!!

I am also not happy that they keep going to over to Bournemouth and Eastleigh. Especially as almost every time they go back to the match there has been a Saints attack. If goals had been scored at that time we would have missed them.

Why am I paying for a live commentary? FFS!

And they even missed the kick-off for the second half!!! Aaarrrggghhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Again Saints had an attack, whilst Solent were playing an advert!!!!!!!!

cutting out here too - using Chrome also. Initially quite impressed - I actually like the new format and the new video is great (apart from today's Northampton preview - finally got to see that just before KO tonight).

I'm guessing there are some teething probs and hopefully these will be ironed out sooner rather than later.

I'm sure I paid 2.99 a month for last season so price is comparable no?

I'm in for the season but already starting to regret it because it's not a very good product. For that price I expected a far better commentary and no ongoing technical issues. I didn't expect to be bouncing hither and thither, checking on scores that don't interest me at all, and I didn't expect to be missing goals while the feed cuts out.

Out of interest, who should we speak to at the Club if we want to express our concerns?

SaintsTV was **** so I wouldn't expect this to be a great deal better. I'm not signing up, had too many problems last year with the feed cutting out and the commentary team seemed more interested in giving updates from the Prem.

They really need to up their service, especially with the BBC and Virgin covering the highlights packages well between them, the price just for radio commentary (and problematic commentary at that) is a bit OTT.

The standard of the radio feed is terrible. Saints TV never used to cut out as many times in games as this new saints player does. Also, I don't want to pay £4 a month for updates on Eastleigh. I don't care, I'm a saints fan.

There has been a dramatic decrease in the quality of the service provided. I am not impressed.

That's the service provider, isn't it? They have my money so I'm not expecting much there.

I'd like to talk to someone at the Club - someone who who might be more concerned that their fans are being short-changed.

They are the people who got my subscription up and running - the SaintsTV people could no longer help with anything re: new player.

I sent off an email through the "Contact Us" section on Saints Player.

I said that the service was poor because of the cut outs and that not only was I not the only seeing this problem, but that others were seeing much more serious problems.

I told them I wanted to know why it is happening and what they are going to do to ensure it doesn't happen in the future as its not acceptable for a paid service. I also said that if it doesn't improve I want my annual subscription refunded in full.

I'm with you on this one. I also want to know who to speak to at the club/radio solent, re: I don't want to miss a goal because they have gone to Bournemouth/Weymouth/have their timing screwed up and are still playing adverts when the match has started/restarted.

Minsk, I threw a minor wobbler at the address jasonb provided above.

If enough of us complain I suspect the Club will have more influence than we could.

I got a reply from the Customer Support people.

First of all, this is what I sent them...

Dear Sir/Ms,

I have just paid for my annual subscription to Saints Player and am listening to the Southampton vs Northampton match through the service at the moment.

I'm very disappointed with the service this new system is providing. The service is constantly cutting in and out making the match very difficult to listen to. I can happen up to 3 and 4 times every minute, which just isn't acceptable.

I understand that I am not the only one experiencing this problem, and there are plenty more people experiencing worse problems. It seems to be a very unprofessional service.

I'd like to know what is causing these problems and what you will do to ensure they don't happen in the future as if the service continues like this I would expect a full refund for my annual subscription.

Sincerely,

This is their reply... NOTHING to do with the problem I reported.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us.

If the programme page loads but you can't see the Click to Play window, try installing Flash. If you already have Flash installed and reinstalling doesn't help, you may need to perform a clean install of Flash.

I've just gone back again with this....

Dear Sir/Ms,

It seems you have not even read the details of my issue, because your so called fix is completely unrelated to my complaint. I COULD load the player and COULD listen to the match, but the commentary kept cutting in and out, as much as 3 or 4 times every minute. It was a problem that was occuring for quite a number of users of the service last night so the issue does not lie with the end user, it lies with the provider.

Again I reiterate, I would like to know what is causing this problem and what you intend to do to ensure it does not occur for future matches. I have no intention of paying for a service that is not working correctly and will expect a full refund if the same issue continues to occur.

Regards,

Did anyone else get a reply?

Got this about an hour ago... think I read the same reply on another thread...

Thank you for your email.

We are liaising with Saints FC regarding the drop out issues from yesterday evening as we expect this to be an issue with the equipment being used by the club/radio station.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience and we expect this issue to be rectified as quickly as possible.

Saints Player - live commentary -

I wanted to let you know that throughout the game against Northampton (and Millwall), the commentary completely blanked out for a few seconds on many, many occasions.

Sometimes it was a constant stream of mini silences and made listening to the game at times impossible. I hope that you will be able to fix this as soon as possible. I am a member of a few Saints Forums, and can assure you that many other people have had the same experience. On a seperate note, please, please bring back Will Cope and his various Saints legends. I'm sorry, but dear old Dave Merrington is many things, but a radio commentator he is not.
