Lambert's reaction

Glad he impressed. I had a great seat thanks to the unreserved seating policy, right next to the Northampton bench in the third rwo. Lambo got a great reception, for me ran around a bit too much in an effort to impress an already won over crowd in the first 45 then paid for it with cramp after 84 mins. He actually came over to Pardew to ask to come off!

Nice goal though, although I'd have expected him to side fot it in instead of trying to head it from two feet high! Still a goal's a goal I suppose.

Should have had a pen in the second half when pulled down by Beckwith, who on the last two times he faced Lambo conceded NINE goals as Hereford went down first 6-1 then 3-0 against Rovers. Had a standing ovation and looked a bit sheepish as he came off. Job done.

Proud of ya Lambo! Now for some sleep after the long drive back to Bristol...

....... " the team were great they were talking to me and encouraging me throughout the game " (sort of quote) from Rickie Lambert.

...great team building AP you've got the right spirit into the squad already.

(As soon as they've been introduced to each other they'll play even better !)

To a well known tune Hey Jude

I know its been around other terraces but its our own knew player and we have never sung it!

So:

Naaaaa Na Na Na Na Na Naaaaa , Na Na Na Naaaaa RICKKKIIEEEE

Plus He would like that being a local merseyside lads to the Beatles.

Anyone who went to the Isle Of Wight festival will know this will work!!!

Just changing tact a bit, but still on the Beatles theme. I was thinking about one that wasn't related to one or the players. And this Beatles one led me to -

For our own

Lucy Pinder - we could sing it for years and nobody would have a clue why. Well, I think it's brilliant.

Heard him say on radio he has only been forward for, I think it was 2 - maybe 3, years.

Looking at his record;

2005 Rochdale 28 goals in 64

then 3 years with Bristol, 51 goals in 128

this season 2 in 2.

about 81 in 194

goal in 2.3 games - and getting more and more prolific, now hopefully playing in better side as well....

That would drive me insane, and there are already about 50 clubs singing this with their team name in it.

First comment to Missus John Boy when he scored "That's what we have been missing up front; someone not scared to put his head in where it hurts".

A slight concern from the OS piece, at 27 he is still getting his left and right mixed up: but then if he keeps scoring who cares :-)

I wondered if he meant the play came down the left and then he (and Lloyd James) did their bit.

The interesting thing I noticed was that whenever we attacked down the right he pulled away behind the full back, expecting a cross to the far post (which he never got). Not sure if he did the same when we attacked down the left, he didn't seem to get any kind of ball in the box when we did that. He also came short for passes into feet when the ball was on half way, and didn't get many of those either. Give it a training session or two and either we'll be picked out those crosses he wants or Pardew will have him making the runs to fit our pattern - personally I hope we change our style to suit Lambert, rather than force him to adapt to our style, as only one of those things has been effective in the last couple of years.

Most promising thing of the whole night for me was his ability to link play, passing the ball on the edge of the box, and then getting himself in front of goal to finish the move, something that dingus McGoldrick didn't do once last season, and Saga hasn't bothered with since about January.

did ok, not MOTM though

Who do you suggest was ? No-one else brought that much to the team. I thought Harding was very close though.

It's nice to see us actually look like a coherent footballing side with a clue what's expected of them (running and a high tempo) after last year's laze-a-thon.
