Um Bongo Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Saw them fly over Hedge End today, quite low and in perfect formation. Anyone know why they were in the area? Looked Awesome though.
JustMike Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 yep i saw them too, fly over Botley, they are top draw arent they. No idea where they were going. I did see them recently at swanage carnival, 20 minute display, loved every minute of it
bridge too far Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 I think they were doing something at Poopey. We saw them last week when we were driving down to Dorset - they were at an airshow in Bournemouth I think. Very impressive.
JustMike Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/teamnews/index.cfm?storyid=7BC6CBFA-5056-A318-A895E8490D6AB67F shows their shows and flypasts. HMS Ark Royal. then back to Bournemouth possibly
warsash saint Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 The display was over the Ark Royal in P*mpey at luchtime today...the missus watched them from Gosport. I saw them at the airshow in Bournemouth a few weekends back...they were immence - fantastic spectacle whilst sat on the beach
Rattlehead Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 One of the few things that makes me proud to be British. Always immaculate and hugely impressive.
cambsaint Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 They're at Duxford on Saturday, closing the afternoon. One was marking the flight out at about 3pm. Wondered why there was only one , there's usually more do the practice run. If you're interested in WW2 aircraft, Duxford is a must. I enjoy walking the dog listening to and watching the Spits and other aircraft doing their test flights. Cambsaint
saint boggy Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 i was in Whiteley with my son when they flew over today........... me and another mum were thrilled at the sight, while our kids seemed completely underwhelmed!!
Iowsaintsfan Posted 4 September, 2009 Posted 4 September, 2009 Saw them Cowes week in the 1st week of August and also over the Isle of Wight Festival, both times fantastic!
Smirking_Saint Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 Saw two apache longbows flying over romsey thursday, anything to do with this ??
saint lard Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 Watched the display from work in Gosport, some of my colleagues went to Portsdown Hill to watch them. Mighty impressive.
JustMike Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 i videoed the entire display at swanage and was going to upload it to facebook but 1) it takes too long and 2) all you can hear is me saying "wooow look at that" and "ooooo awesome" :-)
Sheaf Saint Posted 5 September, 2009 Posted 5 September, 2009 Saw two apache longbows flying over romsey thursday, anything to do with this ?? Maybe, but there is at least one squadron of them based at Middle Wallop near Salisbury so it's possible they were just on exercise.
Redbul Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 I saw Red Arrow crash at Sidmouth many years ago. Fortunately, as my ex girlfriend's sister excitedly told her friend on the 'phone "The pilot managed to ejaculate safely...." This was (obviously) more exciting than the display but all credit to the pilot. He knew something was wrong (as did we on the ground) 'cos of a huge plume of flame gushing out of the jet exhaust. He turned the plane around, pointed it out to sea and bailed out. We watched him float down and then watched as the plane hit the water a few miles out.
Thedelldays Posted 8 September, 2009 Posted 8 September, 2009 Saw two apache longbows flying over romsey thursday, anything to do with this ?? now, they are impressive... only ever been in one 'chopper...that was a Merlin on board an aircraft carrier...did some twist and turns that would scare the life out of you.. good fun though
