Chris Perry What A Role Model

How do you feel about Jhaidi?

"I want to prove to everyone I am the best defender at the club."

What I wouldn't give for that attitude throughout the side, 100%, 100% of the time.

Never able to criticise Chris Perry's lack of commitment. As you say, if we can get it throughout the team we will be very hard to beat.

"First up! Mike Newell might as well have told Tommy Forecast to "**** off, and don't come back!" with the news that the Mariners have signed "highly-rated S****horpe United goalkeeper Josh Lillis on a one-month loan". Before you go "I say young man, hang on! Wasn't Tommy Forecast an England keeper in the making or summat?", Cod Almighty's scouts have actually seen Lillis in action at the end of last season and reckoned he was "nifty". Does that assure you, reader? Does it? Does that assure you, Messrs Widdowson, Atkinson, Bennett, and Stockdale? Does it? Good. Because if you're rubbish on Saturday there's no rubbish goalkeeper excuse now."

Chris Perry has been a superb signing for us, considering he cost nothing and I expected him to last only until the end of the season when Pearson signed him.

Wish every player had his attitude, happy for competition for places and wanting to show people their the best.

It just goes to prove that form is temporary, but class is permanent.

Ah ha, so that's why we don't score goals, we DO have that same attitude throughout the side...

Lallana, Lambert et al spend all match striving to prove they are the best defender at the club..... :p

Sorry, post vacation good mood, won't last long, I'm, back into Ramadan

If things go to plan, surely Perry will be warming the subs bench with trottman and jahidi on the pitch.

Thats not really the point.

The point is about when competition for places is increased all professionals should raise their game accordingly rather than shy away from the competition and just collect their wages at the end of the week.

I have to say that Perry's attitude has continually impressed me since coming here on loan under Pearson and this latest interview has just enhanced this.

The thing is that I actually believe what a footballer is saying for a change (as opposed to kissing the badge, holding up the scarf etc etc etc to show your loyalty)

Couldn't agree more .

We'll probably see less of Perry from now on with the arrival of Jaidi and Trotman , but that's just a reflection on Perry's age rather than any criticism of his innate ability or attitude .

The professional defender par excellence - I wish we'd signed him 5 years ago .

Have always liked Perry, but maybe he is now a bit too old (slow) and small for this division, although he always reads the game well, will be a useful back up to Jaidi and Trotman when they're out injured or suspended or when Trotman returns to Preston from his loan spell

He's not going to say in the media "I shall shy away from the competition and just collect my wages each week" is he? Just because he's experienced enough to say the right things, doesn't mean his speech is a direct route into his psyche.

He's saying " the new boys will have to win my plce" but he'll be thinking "cripes I'm old".

He's the only player in the last year who I actually believe!

Not sure, he may be thinking "Jaidi is only 2 years younger than me I can do this" He may also be thinking "Christ i hope we play deep if i am partnering Jaidi" :)

yeh, jaidi is certainly no spring chicken, but the hype emenating from st marys about jaidi seems to suggest that he is a 'top rated' player. Perry will probably be well aware that he could easily find himself 3rd choice.
