Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 17 October, 2009 Share Posted 17 October, 2009 Long trip, three points in the bag. First two goals have keeper mistake all over them; Schneiderlin wants his arse kicking and the woodwork saved two more. Oldham gave us a run for our money in the second half, for long periods they were first to the second ball every time. My god, Oldham is a dump. AndyNorthernSaints Posted 17 October, 2009 Share Posted 17 October, 2009 Just back after post match beers and chinese. Good atmosphere with decent turn out i thought today and plenty of singing. Oldham is a bit of a weird place where no bar staff know any directions anywhere and Rifle Range pub recommended in internet ground guide wouldn't let us in? Thought Saints dominated most of game and should have finished game off earlier. Lambert and Connelly will take the **** in this league.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 17 October, 2009 Share Posted 17 October, 2009 How tediously ****ty were those 12 year old Oldham fans next to us? I really liked the look of absolute rage on their faces. And the knowledge that there was absolutely nothing they could do. It was especially funny at the end when we had to walk past them to the car park and they were doing their best to look all hard and stare at people, but totally avoiding eye contact. Arizona Posted 17 October, 2009 Share Posted 17 October, 2009 I was walking past the ground after the match and some pikey in a Nova pulled up along side and shouted "Southern C*nt" then drove off at high speed. And I'm not even 'ard :smt102 I did lol when it "all kicked off" though. Some bloke was stood quite close to me the other side of the netting, giving it large, then the yoof all decided to join in. Then some light refreshments and lose change were exchanged... we'll show those Ukrainians how it's done.

dickyhale Posted 17 October, 2009 Share Posted 17 October, 2009 Just got in well deserved three points. Did any one see the police give that Saints fan at the end get a fix plenty of £60 for helping himself to the larger/beer after the game. Just lent over and filled his glass up. Team played really well and was good value for the three points

Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 Can that still be classed as an in-joke nowadays..? Fair enough. I'll drop the V2 and change it to Vr which may or may not be V1 as well. It's 3am. I've just had to go into Winchester to get my daughter's friend released on a street bail rather than spend the night in the cells and now I have responsibility for her until she answers bail at 3 tomorrow afternoon. And she's been sick all over my toilet floor. I take little pleasures where I can and if I can tease our pilot just a tad then what the heck. shurlock Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 How tediously ****ty were those 12 year old Oldham fans next to us? Our yoof did their best to match them in that department. The parading up at and down the terrace -and at one point their rush for the exit, intimating they wanted to take "it" outside was comical. A bunch of queer thespians from Eton performing Football Factory could have done a more authentic job; if they're going to have a go, have a go - otherwise relax. T*ssers. Andy_Porter Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 Lambert was my MOTM today. His general play is superb, he's the most complete striker we've had since Kenwnye Jones when we signed him I was just expecting a goal scorer but he's got everything to his game. Lallana was good again he's far too good for this league I really hope we can keep hold of him. Waigo was good for the first half then seemed to get really tired. Should have brought on Antonio earlier. The defence seemed pretty solid, will be interesting to see what happens when Murty is fit again, he's a much better right back than Lloydy but we look really dangerous from corners when we've got James on the pitch taking them. ladysaint Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 I agree with Andy, Lambert was outstanding today the guy just doesnt stop running, but also thought a special mention for Harding who I thought was terriffic today, in fact they are now all gelling as a team and if we can keep the consistency going then who knows, playoffs are still realistic. St Michael Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 Ladysaints- I agree about Harding - I've only been to three games this season (Huddersfield, Carlisle and Oldham) and he's been outstanding on all three occasions. Lambert was awesome, he is just such a handful - if that shot from 45 yards had just dipped under the bar... a stunning effort. As for his goal, well, they all count. Their goalkeeper was probably the worst opposition keeper I have ever seen. As well as the horrific first two goals he just looked so incredibly nervous, rushing his kicks from backpasses etc. Even Connolly - fabulous finish though it was - had the chance gifted to him by a terrible defensive muddle. That goal arrived at a very good time to kill off any nerves. Apart from a pretty sloppy complacent spell in the middle of the second half, during which Oldham scored, it was a dominant performance and great day out (apart from Oldham's moronic 'anger issues' chav fans - and a section of pitiful idiots at the front of the away end too). Things seem to be really coming together and with four of our next five league games at home we've got to be looking towards mid-table by the end of November. Bloody brilliant support yesterday too, away section packed out again. Good times, boys and girls.
Ash Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 Thought the support was really good yesterday, had a really really good day out. The whole team played pretty well, and the substitutes who came on all impressed to. Would be good to get the Reading lad on a longer deal, he looks pretty handy. The Oldham fans made a fair bit of noise, more than the others we have been to this year, but the drum is such faggy ********. The point in the second half where their fans started exchanging a bit of "come on then" with our dreggs was LOLworthy. Don't those chaps (on both sides) realise they look like tools posturing in such a way with a 12 foot gap and stewards/coppers in between them. Anyway, thought the celebrations for the Connolly goal were great fun, worth the drive and entrance fee alone. I am beginning to seriously entertain the idea of getting in the play-offs
RonManager Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 Just about got my voice back -apologies to the chap in front when I went ballistic as Waigo lost the ball and James couldn't keep up for their goal, I fear I may have burst his eardrum! Saints just have to make us suffer for the glory - sadists! We should have been 5-0 up by then. The explosion of ecstatic relief from us when Connolly scored, showed the anxiety amongst a lot of the fans. I still felt nervous when we were 1 minute into injury time - the last few years have really left some of us scarred deeply. A good all round performance, although Jaidi needs to work on not allowing himself to be turned round. Trotman was nervous in the first half, but ok in the second -going back to his old club etc etc. Lallana was great - at times they put 3 on him but he battled well and found others in space because of that. Davis -2 great saves, that if not made, could have put a completely different complexion on the game. James - curate's egg- good in parts. Hammond, Wotton, Lambert, all excellent. (By the way, Paul, the goal is that white boxy thing about half way between the corner flags!!) Waigo - ok 1st half but ran out of puff. Needs to muscle up in this league. Antonio - this lad could be a real jewel in time. Aggressive, good first touch and difficult to knock off the ball. Dan Harding - composed, excellent again. Connolly - the outpouring of sheer joy said volumes about what he has obviously been through the last 2 years. Welcome. Mills - only on for 1 minute, therefore in the style of Steve Bruce, MoM Will Morgan ever score for us? another great game from him though. Well pleased. Constructive criticism? I'd like to see a bit more composure under pressure and more on the deck football. Having now seen a good representative sample of the teams in League 1, I've come to the conclusion that with improving touch and link up play, we can pass the ball around most of them. keep the faith COYS ps couldn't believe the number of ManUre fans at Piccadilly waiting for trains -don't any of them live in Manchester? And a tip of the hat to Bus route no 181 -frequent and fast, which is what I needed after the game in order to make my last train home to Somerset (game didn't finish until 5pm). Mind you it was a close run thing changing at Birmingham, a 100 metre sprint from platform 1 to 10 or it would have been a night in Brum! During my sprint I noticed about 10 different team shirts on parade.
Asaint4ever Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 Well enjoyed the game! hope we get out of this league asap! cos the grounds are shocking! lambert is by far the best signing this season just unreal. if we keep this up i cant see why we cant make a play off place? our fans are geat! made me and my girlfriend laugh so hard. also my girl seems to higly rate Lloyd james??? Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 Ron, I agree with the composure on the ball point. One criticism I had yesterday (and the chap next to me certainly understood how I felt) was that the defence was too quick to lump the ball upfield, quite often when there was no opposition man around and therefore time to do something more constructive. The route one out of defence nearly always found an opponent and put us on the back foot again.

RonManager Posted 18 October, 2009 Share Posted 18 October, 2009 Got train but got so p1ssed on the way back I have literally spent the whole day in bed. I'll type quietly then - I had to smile at the bloke who was so p1ssed during the match (red jacket, long straggly hair - 50ish), swaying up and down the stairs, with his long suffering wife trying to keep him together. He ended up behind me in the disabled area after the OB threatened him with ejection, screaming 'C'mon Saints, your better than this sh1t' for the whole 2nd half. For his wife to put up with that, she truly is a Saint.
