Saint_clark Posted 7 November, 2009 Share Posted 7 November, 2009 "Fans have waited more than a decade to get this one back on the calendar" when talking about Swansea V Cardiff - no they haven't. They played each other last year.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 7 November, 2009 Share Posted 7 November, 2009 Alan Pardew - " our start was quite slow " - commendable honesty from the manager I'd say . Now if someone on here were to say exactly that they'd be lining up to argue with you !

Legod Third Coming Posted 7 November, 2009 Share Posted 7 November, 2009 Alan Pardew - " our start was quite slow " - commendable honesty from the manager I'd say . Now if someone on here were to say exactly that they'd be lining up to argue with you ! Not true. No one argues we did not win, unless they are idiots. He did not say our start was quite slow because I was underperforming as a manager. That is what many asserted at the time. That is what many of us disagree with. Should he have said, we started slowly because I inherited the dreggs of the barrel, left over from the previous regime scraping the bottom of it?? He merely stated the truth. We started slowly. So did the tortoise. How is the hare doing in that race, by the way?

I don't tell Alan Pardew what to say (I wouldn't dare presume) he volunteered it of his own free will . As AP has willingly excepted that we made a slow start - without recourse to any tired old excuse you will note - it would seem wise you follow his excellent example . Or are the SaintsWeb 'Thoughtcrime' police about to launch a prosecution against AP for undermining himself now ?

The point is that people: a) blame the manager for this. He accepted no blame. b) were questioning his ability during this period. There is a huge difference betweem making a slow start and underperforming. You seem to pretend that he blames himself for underachieving during that period, whereas many of us believe that a slow start was inevitable because of the quality of the squad and the necessity to rebuild it. I suspect Pardew falls into the latter categpry although he may come out and accept that he was doing a bad job and then started doing a good one, you never know... I made no criticism of Alan Pardew , in my opinion the blame for our disappointing start to the season can be layed at many doors if you're interested in that type of thing , not least on the players - but a poor(ish) start it certainly was . I 'pretend' nothing - I suspect if you asked the manager however he might well accept full responsibility for what occurred (in the manner that the Captain of a ship is normally held responsible for its loss) but to be frank I find the 'Blame Game' not a particularly productive pastime and it holds little interest for me . What does interest me is honesty - I'm in good company it would seem .
