david in sweden Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 We can all pick our best League side, without too much trouble, but quite a few players are unavailable (cup-tied) for the two different cup competitions, and we have our best two midfielders out for the 2 weeks, we need every availble player who's qualified to play....and at the moment that includes Gillette and even Saga and Lancashire. AP needs TWO squads and every available player he's got ...if we are to get success in these competitions. We are well on the way to a 60 game season! Right sider Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 More complicated than that tbh honest as players are cup tied for different cups. Eg Fonte can play JPT but not FAC and Barnard the other way round. Seabourne can't play in either cup so you can see the fun we have.

NickG Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 there are several players now for each position - particularly as some can be used effectively in more than 1 place. keeper - two good ones RB -Murty / Otsemobor / James / Thomas (4th choice and MOM against CCC side!) LB - Harding / Mills CB - Fonte / Jaidi Perry / Thomas Seaborne / Lancashire CM Schneiderlin / Hammond Wooton / James Gillet / Gobern LM Holmes / Lallana / Mills RM Antonio / Lallana / Papa / James CF Lambert / Barnard Papa Connolly Antonio Saga Lallana

Andy_Porter Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 I think Harding or Mills will be his only tough choice. Thomas, Jaidi and Fonte will all have to start I would have thought.

It's not like he will aggravate(sp?) the injury if he plays too much.

It's not like he will aggravate(sp?) the injury if he plays too much. I thought he had another injury as he did not play against Luton from the OS Saints have taken up the option to bring back the defender at short notice ahead of the visit of Luton Town in the F.A Cup to bolster the number of defenders available to Alan Pardew this weekend. Speaking earlier today, the Saints manager confirmed that there were a few concerns ahead of Saturday's game which have led to the decision. "David Connolly and Radhi Jaidi are doubtful. It leaves us short at the back because Neal Trotman is also unavailable. However, in front of the back four we've got plenty of options," Pardew explained. VectisSaint Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 We have so many players and yet we will struggle in the next 2 games in midfield. Clealry where we are now short. Hammond and Spiderman out, AP admits Wotton can't play 2 in a week, played yesterday so presumably won't play Tuesday. Looks like the MF signing tomorrow will be very important. We need to take 6 points from our next 2 league games, yet we don't really have a central midfield other than James and Gillett!!
NickG Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 we better keep an eye of the league 1 top scorers and keep buying any that are not ours! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/top_scorers/default.stm

Arizona Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 League Team: Davis Otsemobor - Fonte - Jaidi - Harding Antonio - Hammond - Schneiderlin - Lallana Lambert - Connolly Cup Team: Bart James - Perry - Thomas - Mills Waigo - Wotton - Gillett - Holmes Barnard - Saganowski Obviously those teams aren't mutually exclusive, but it shows we can put out 2 completely seperate and competitive teams. SuperSAINT Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 We could (just about) field 3 teams. (Granted, I've had to dig deep into the reserves for it!) It's going to be so important with all the games we've got coming up. The pleasing thing for me over the last couple of cup games is that we've had the fringe players coming in and doing a really solid job for us. Gives me plenty of optmisim for the rotation that's bound to happen. ---------------------Davis ---------------------Bart -------------------Forecast Murty---------Fonte-------Jaidi---------Harding Otsemobor----Perry-----Seaborne-------Mills Thomas-----Lancashire---Martin------Molyneux Antonio----Hammond----Schniederlin----Lallana Waigo------Wotton---------James--------Holmes Thomson----Gillett---------McNish-------Gobern ------------Barnard------Lambert ------------Connolly-------Saga -----------McClaggon-----White

James also put in a quality performance in the middle - better than Hammond imo. No point changing anything around for the sake of it.
