Sorry for Markus

We all feel so sorry, but all I can think is that he never got to see his dream happen.

I have to say I was somewhat cynical of the takeover, everyone hailed Marcus as a hero whilst I thought, he's a shrewd businessman and see's this as a great opportunity to make money. But that didn't matter really (I mean there a few who do something for nothing), he rescued our club and though I believe if it wasn't him it would have been someone else, that someone else could easily have been Mark Jackson or even Micky Failpa, or whatever his name was.

But during last season it seemed that though a great businessman, Marcus seemed like a genuinely nice guy, we will never know and it seems very few know him at all, but you can judge people by looks and actions sometimes and would Roman Ambrovich be taking pictures at Wembley with a little instant camera? No, he would be in a box surrounded by the Russian mafia, would Sheik Mansour be in a box, he probably wouldn't even be there, too busy counting his billions.

Marcus was there and those lucky enough to have met him tell a story of an unassuming man, happy to walk from Wembley carrying a plastc bag with a programme in it, to stop and say hello. So my cynical side resided and I now believe that it may well have started out purely business but it turned into a love, just like all of us have expereinced.

So what I am saying is that I feel so sorry that he didn't enjoy the good times (I am so thankful that he saw us Wembley, at least that was something) that are/were surely round the corner because it seemed like we are/were on a journey to a great future and I so wanted to see his smiling face, his red and white scarf and his respectful wave along the way, and I'm more sorry for him than me that I won't.

I was one of the lucky ones that met him after the cup final, as you say he stopped, Chatted and had his photo taken with us. His little plastic bag with his programme in it made him more of a true fan than i thought any owner could be, very modest, humble and upright. A TRUE FAN, A TRUE GENT AND A GREAT MAN! God Bless You Markus. RIP

All agreed.

Obviosuly, all fans are very sad at the terrible news.

But even I am tiring of the "look at me" tendency to start new threads. There's a Markus tribute thread already.

I despair really. Why couldn't the authors of these tributes put them on the tribute thread.

Please lock.

I'm so sorry i have ruined you life and that you dispair (frankly if you are dispaired about this then it must be sad life you are leading) , it has obviously affected you deeply, not the death, clearly anyone opening a new thread .

Heres an idea, maybe we should have no threads at all except one, beacuse they are all Saints related anyway, or if you start a new thread and any of the words in that thread have been used before then you are banned.

Because there is simply no point in having a forum whereby anyone (who joins) can start a or reply to a conversation about the said subject (Saints), plus we might clog up the net with 'too' many threads and maybe that would cause the end for all mankind.

Maybe a better suggestion is get lost and mind you own business, no one asked you to comment, no one asked you to read it, and unless you are a mod then 'Lock it' is pretty unappropriate, you come across like one of the nanny state politicians who tells everyone not smoke, eat margarine or use a ladder to get cheese off the top shelf.

Finally, that 'look at me comment', have a look at how many threads I have started and unlike the usual suspects on here, I do have a life that doesn't evolve around a 24h log on to this site, not bothered about people 'looking at me mate', already been there!

Haha good answer!!!

As for the original post, I pointed out to my dad when Markus was taking pictures from his seat of all of us. Both shocked that someone so minted was enjoying the day just as much as we were, but the shocked turned into a smile from ear to ear as that kind of showed us we were now owned by a guy that had fallin in love with a business that he had rescued.

I am amazingly happy that I got to see my saints win a trophy at the new wembly and I'm just as happy to know Markus got to see the same in his short time with us.

Good post. You've capture my thoughts.

This thread is unappropriate.

why, because it critises a load of saddos that spend all day on here, treat anyone with less than 1000 posts as part timers and is just a bit of a club for the ITK's, the wannabe ITK's and the people that can't be bothered to go to games, which one do you fall into Hypo??

What I find amusing is when people highlight a post in bold letters, and pick everything you write to bits, like there are rules on here. You haven't been rude so post what you like. Don't take any notice of people that have racked up thousands of posts.

I'd rather see a dozen posts like the original post on this thread than all the usual ....

must win after 1 game

should we change the manager

NC dont know what he's doing

the half time pies are crap

you know, all the usual negative, boring posts that clog this forum.

Marcus was a great guy and if a hundred people want to start a thread like this then good on them, Marcus deserves it !!!

RIP dude ... Respect !

Good OP - dont't like big outpourings of loss - a tad tacky and ephemeral - but I do want something that lasts the test of time. Again nothing showy. A ML chant that like all our other fav chants is instinctive, humerous and celebratory, gets sung regularly and spontaneously-whether we're at SMS or getting spanked in some rainy northern sh*thole- and becomes part of the repertoire or greatest hits would be ideal.

Somehow I don't hold out much hope, though - we're incapable of coming up with our own chants (how long has it taken to coordinate and think of something for AL, our only home-grown star)? Its likely that after next Saturday, most of our efforts will slowly fizzle out which would be a shame...

This, but you forgot the 'we should sign xxxxx' and 'why haven't we signed 20 players this summer?' threads.

The idea is that there are different threads for each topic. It doesn't take a genius to not start a thread on "orient build up" if there already is one.

members can start their own duplicate threads of course. But then other members can comment and ask why they haven't contributed to a thread on the exact same subject which is 16+ pages long.

Its tedious attention seeking

Some proper muppets troll on these forums these days - so what if the OP wants to start his own thread - what's it gotta do with anyone else? Numerous duplicate posts is one thing but jeez - the Jeremy Kyle generation really have lost the plot... frankly I'm sick of coming here anymore.

Where do I get my fiver back? - I'm going back to Saintslist - decent conversation on there back in the mid-nineties.

(apologies to OP for posting my ramblings in their thread)

As you were.

I couldn't agree more, maybe a thread should be started about it, but I guess one of the full timers here would tell us we didn't have the right!!

a real match attending saints fan.
