Kingsbridge Saint Posted 4 September, 2010 Share Posted 4 September, 2010 Dean thinks we fell the wrong side of a 'fine line'. The only fine line is whether they will play for you or not Dean. The performance fell the wrong side of a chasm. I had the misfortune of sitting through the full game rather than the sanitised BBC highlights. Apparently he's seen us put in far worse performances - my God you guys back in Blighty must have seen some shockers. Apparently we only let ourselves down in the final third - agreed if you include the final third at both ends. And throw in the middle third as well. If his idea of success is about getting balls and bodies into the box it's a bit of a thin strategy. Particularly if you have Jason Puncheon as the body on the end of those balls. And the masterstroke was taking off AOC as he wanted to 'make things happen'. From the Steve Wigley book of football tactics that one. Cortese sort it out ffs. Perhaps the thing he wants to make happen is Cortese getting the new manager in. Just a thought.

TijuanaTim Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 He's already crying about "I'm trying to do my best..." Hey Dean you are to Butch what Little Jimmy was to Donny Osmond i.e. an even lamer and more worthless version of your older and still lame and worthless brother. saintscottofthenortham Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 Its good to know that Pardew's assistant was just as tactically inept as himself. Yesterday was horrific, and quite how Dean Wilkins can even so much as think that it wasn't worries me. Ok, a few players are missing and a few more are not playing 100% fit, but that team that took to the field should be more than capable of making a game of it against Rochdale at home. But no... No passion, no idea's, no quality... just nothing. Dean Wilkins: "On another day... Thats a 3-0 win..."
TijuanaTim Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 It will work itself Pat, we just need (or Nic needs to) get fingers out and do something dynamic and worthy of real leadership. We don't need some old tired, haseen, recycled lower league gaffer or some gamble of a potential up and coming prospect. What we need is an established, ethical, strategist and and boss that leads by example...from a high level, where we're supposed to be going. I don't know who or how, it ain't me being paid the big bucks - it Cortese, therefore our fantastic support deserve the best. Let's end this continuing mellodrama, get a great manager and establish some genuine continuity.

SaintRichmond Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 IMHO, We should have won, and IF we had taken the shed load of chances we created, then we would have won Problem is, when the Gods are against you, then that's life Overall, I do feel sorry for Wilkins. At least he kept them trying to play Football for the whole Match, instead of reverting to Hoofball I think the team were playing for him, there was certainly more spirit than there was v Swindon BUT, they know, and we know, that Cortese is looking for a new Yes Man, and the quicker one is appointed the better Not that I think it will make a lot of difference now What Cortese has not cottoned on to is that, in the UK, Supporters expect SOME Info about what goes on. Not the whole video, but something If he takes no notice and keeps us Supporters out of the loop completely, then he will ostracise himself. Perhaps that is what he wants, to be viewed as a Napoleonic Dictatorial Titular Head ......... Rupert Lowe with money

beatlesaint Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 Did any of you watch the match? We played far worse at times last season and won. Could you refresh my memory as to which games they were please ? Wilkins was at a different game than me. Anyone who failed to witness the complete lack of sense of urgency from the players with 20 minutes to go and two goals down must have been sat on the planet La La. They had just given up. TijuanaTim Posted 5 September, 2010 Share Posted 5 September, 2010 Did any of you watch the match? We played far worse at times last season and won. Yes I watched the game, the highlights and then a replay of it (which I admit I fast forwarded throough quite a bit). What you say is probably true. However we did not play well, we played weak opponents with little or no resources in a very low standard of a league. We really should demand better and retain high expectation, not just 'settling' for mediocrity. FYI - we still lost.
