Secret Site Agent Posted 1 October, 2010 Share Posted 1 October, 2010 If opposing fans tell us 'Kelvin davis is the worst goalie in League one' We tell them to f off If a Sundag rag says 'Adam Lallana to leave' We shout ******, no he isn't If a website say that our fans were seen acting as hooligans and mugging old ladies We would all stand up and say WHERE'S YOU PROOF!!!!!!!!! Anyone says, without any evidence or backup what so ever, Cortese is going to do something, anything. We are divided between those that accept it without a shred of proof. And add to it because, and I quote, '....I don't if he did it, I don't know anyone who saw him do it, and I have no evidence he did it, But I know he did it'. (for those Simpson fans: 'I don't know Homer Simpson, I never Met Homer Simpson, I have no idea who Homer Simpson is, BUT HE MOLESTED ME TOOO!!!!') Why are we (not all of us, but some) willing to belive the worst of our chairman, and even when he explains the reason why he has done something, and it makes logical business sense, it still isn't good enough. And this isn't another Cortese thread, either. this is about the mindset that makes you believe the worst of something, the worst of us, for no other reason than 'just because.' Saint_Jonny Posted 1 October, 2010 Share Posted 1 October, 2010 'Old habbits die hard' - this is how I would explain some fans reaction to what Cortese did / didnt / may have / probably hasnt done. People distrusted the last few incumbents so much, and they made SUCH a mess of things that you cant really blame people for expecting the worst. They shouldn't, but you cant blame them. iansums Posted 1 October, 2010 Share Posted 1 October, 2010 I don't want to think the worst of him, really I don't. I desperately hope he proves to be a great chairman and NA a great manager. However, I've heard from three different sources in the past couple of weeks what a difficult person he is. I just hope that his methods will in the long run be of benefit to the club. Most people find change "difficult" to cope with. The way we used to do things got us relegated twice, into administration and took us to the brink of oblivion. Change was inevitable. It's just shooting the messenger.
doddisalegend Posted 1 October, 2010 Share Posted 1 October, 2010 If opposing fans tell us 'Kelvin davis is the worst goalie in League one' We tell them to f off well some might, others will say great he's only a shot stopper can't kick can't control his box good ridance If a Sundag rag says 'Adam Lallana to leave' We shout ******, no he isn't or great we can do better, if he doesn't want to be here he **** off etc etc If a website say that our fans were seen acting as hooligans and mugging old ladies We would all stand up and say WHERE'S YOU PROOF!!!!!!!!! or bang on about the good days when you couldn't get to a game with out breaking some faces and claim kicking some bloke in the head whens on the floor makes you a man Anyone says, without any evidence or backup what so ever, Cortese is going to do something, anything. It works both ways some will believe anything about ex managers, saints legends, ex players or other staff at SMS without any proof if it shows NC in a better light. People believe which every rumours support their point of view on both sides of the NC debate. And this isn't another Cortese thread, either. this is about the mindset that makes you believe the worst of something, the worst of us, for no other reason than 'just because.' ........ notnowcato Posted 1 October, 2010 Share Posted 1 October, 2010 I'm sick of hearing the "...he's not popular within SMS" line being spouted. Frankly I couldn't give 2 sh**s how flaming popular he is. In fact I hate that line nearly as much as "... no smoke without fire" horsesh**t. For as long as I can remember there has always been someone who is not liked "within". This suggests that maybe those within should take a longer look at themselves as I can't remember the last ****ing time they were happy. What is important is that our club is progressing, sometimes a few backward steps are made but ultimately progression is occurring.

s0108787 Posted 1 October, 2010 Share Posted 1 October, 2010 AND you don't have to hate your boss for him to be doing a bad job. Your feelings towards your boss are more or less irrelevant. Chances are, if people find him difficult to work with - given that he's a highly sucessful businessman - it's more than likely that they are slackers or not up to the standard required. It's boring Thanks for your interesting input. I agree. This thread was boring. That is until you came along with your always prescient insight and made it a riveting read. Thank you for bringing intellect and interest to an otherwise boring topic.
