Gemmel Posted 8 October, 2010 Share Posted 8 October, 2010 I met a big scunny fan today that knew a few of the players and raved about NA. Not to impressed that I was a Saints fan and (His words) had stolen the most forward thinking manager in the Country. I asked him about what NA was like a a discliparian (Thinking about the Barnard situtaion) and he said that wasn't really his way and after a load of other stuff went on to explain how Adkins conducts half time (Not apparently as a one off, or every now and then, but a set format used for every match) No idea if he uses it down here or infact the Northen monkey really does know some of the players, but thought it was worth sharing 1st Five minutes - Silence. No talking and to be used for reflection on the half 2nd Five minutes - Thoughts and comments of what worked and didn't work in the first half 3rd five minutes - Action points of how to address any issues, make sure everybody understands any changes and tactics for the next half. supersonic Posted 8 October, 2010 Share Posted 8 October, 2010 I would expect he's not the only manager to take that plan of action

Nexstar Posted 8 October, 2010 Share Posted 8 October, 2010 Wouldn't surprise me, we do seem to be very strong second half under Adkins

You missed out 4th - Complete risk assessment and check for equal opportunities and disability compliance - no wonder half time is creeping towards 20 minutes in some games !!!! oxfordshire_saint Posted 8 October, 2010 Share Posted 8 October, 2010 If we're having a bad game, that probably means: 1st 5 mins for players to reflect on how **** they've been 2nd 5 mins for players to blame and slate eachother 3rd 5 mins for players to tell eachother how to do their job better, nearly coming to blows, only to be interrupted by the need to go out for the 2nd half Well, that's how it'd go if Sunday football had a 15 mins halftime....... Miltonaggro Posted 9 October, 2010 Share Posted 9 October, 2010 You're 90% right Gemmel, but the last 1 minute is always used for a lusty rendition of the Okey Cokey, apart from Connolly who is excused (can't do the 'knees bent')...
sadoldgit Posted 9 October, 2010 Share Posted 9 October, 2010 New manager comes in. Lots of enthusiasm from all. His every utterance is greeted as if Shakespeare's speak from Henry V. Everything he does is innovative. We are lucky to have him here etc. First season fails to get promotion. Threads start about not if but when we sack him. Falling enthusiasm. Public statements slated. No plan B. Lots of threads about the managers who got away or potential new managers. NCs judgement called into question etc. Second season manager sacked and it starts all over again.

When Pardew arrived we had a training ground report, outlining how much of a tactical thinker AP was, always stopping play and telling players where he wants them to be, what he wants them to do etc. Roll on 12 months and apparently Pardew is tactically inept with only hoofball tactics. That said, I do think Adkins has that certain something about him, and the upturn in performances since his arrival is obviously noticable. Long may it continue, including a strong winning performance today please.
