benjii Posted 6 October, 2008 Share Posted 6 October, 2008 Wtf: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=10713 It strikes me as somewhet odd to implement a ticketing "upgrade" midseason. It also strikes me as somewhat ironic just now, for obvious reasons.
Saints1980 Posted 6 October, 2008 Share Posted 6 October, 2008 I can only think that this is a pre-existing part of the agreement with whoever supplies the software?
benjii Posted 6 October, 2008 Author Share Posted 6 October, 2008 I can only think that this is a pre-existing part of the agreement with whoever supplies the software? Yeah it probably is, I agree. Seems weird to start on a Wednesday rather than a Monday though as the upgrade will now eat into next week. Also seems a bit lame for the software company to release an upgrade midseason (if that's what happened).

Also seems a bit lame for the software company to release an upgrade midseason (if that's what happened). On the other hand as we don't actually have a game to sell tickets for for nearly 2 weeks it probably is about the best time to do it (assuming for some reason it couldn't be done during the close season). If it was done and dusted this week I'd agree but it won't be functioning properly until next Wednesday. Anyway, I suppose it's not that big a deal as the performance against Coventry will probably have more of an impact on attendance than this! Indeed....I posted the very same thoughts earlier this afternoon....beggars belief.... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=69819&postcount=26 Sigh....this will help ticket sales ahead of our next home game...not.......why on earth isn't this sort of thing planned for the summer break? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=10713 "From Wednesday 8th October, Southampton Football Club will be implementing an upgrade to its Ticketing/Database system. This upgrade will provide major enhancements to the business and will take some time to complete. During the upgrade process, the ticket office will be unable to sell "live". This means that both the online and telephone sales functions will not be available. This also applies to the ticket desk within West Quay. The Box Office at St. Mary's will be available. They will be able to sell away games and travel tickets as live, but tickets for home fixtures (and parking) will not be able to be completed at the point of sale. Each customer will be given a receipt for their transaction, and each receipt will be processed in turn when the system is fully available. The upgrade process will be complete on Tuesday 14th October. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this causes"

obelisk Posted 7 October, 2008 Share Posted 7 October, 2008 Sounds bloody amateurish to me. If the systems I look after were unable to support "live" sales for that length of time I think I'd find myself looking for a new job.

Nope, only Novell, Oracle, Microsoft, Lotus, IBM, HP, Cisco :-) Release 1.0 product launches - ah those were as funny as an LLS takeover story, and as full of holes

Saints Noog Posted 7 October, 2008 Share Posted 7 October, 2008 Maybe its done to drag people to the stadium to buy tickets with a hope they'll go into the shop and spend more?
trousers Posted 7 October, 2008 Share Posted 7 October, 2008 A bit of clarification... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/2008/10/07/ticket-office-upgrade/ Nice one. Cheers. One minor grumble (obviously, being a Saints 'fan'....), shame the OS couldn't have made this 100% clear in the first place. Still, not the end of the world (that's tomorrow)
ericofarabia Posted 8 October, 2008 Share Posted 8 October, 2008 Have they changed the original pic that went with the article? I could have sworn it showed masses of people queuing up at the Ticket Office which made me LOL a bit, and also a bit sad as I try and remember when was the last time there was a queue to get a ticket, they couldn't even give them away at the moment PS Trousers .... the end of the world always comes on Fridays, same day as take overs, major announcements etc at SFC. Although it often feels like the end of the world has arrived at the end of each game (especially Live TV ones )
ericofarabia Posted 8 October, 2008 Share Posted 8 October, 2008 Here it is ... on SaintsWeb Homepage ... I knew I'd seen it somewhere. Recent cut backs have meant that only 1 toilet will be open at home games :smt081
lordswoodsaints Posted 8 October, 2008 Share Posted 8 October, 2008 i believe they have bought the old system from pompey as the pompey version doesnt cater for more than 19,000 fans,as we are averaging 15,000 per game this is plenty. our 32,000 version has been sold to west quay car parking as most blokes go shopping with their mrs every saturday afternoon when saints are playing at home these days.
