fanimal Posted 12 January, 2011 Share Posted 12 January, 2011 For the hat trick of 6-0 away wins? I was 21 in 1979 so here must be a few on here in their late forties/fifties who was also at them all? This was the best of the three I think! Got back at 3am worth every penny and minute, fantastic evening, we were awesome!! We have been threatening to hammer a team and tonight it all clicked, with that bit of luck you get when at the top (dodgy keeper and the post at 2-0 up) Always like the third goal..... Ricky Lambert was superb, but they all were, Echo 10/10 for the team please!
miserableoldgit Posted 12 January, 2011 Share Posted 12 January, 2011 (edited) I was at Carlisle and Wolves although not at Oldham last night. If my memory serves me correctly the Wolves score was 2-6. Edited 12 January, 2011 by miserableoldgit

Saint_John Posted 12 January, 2011 Share Posted 12 January, 2011 And Carlisle was 1977 Duncan, I've had a quick look through your 2 books and I believe the last time (only time) we had 6 different scorers was Torquay on 26 Dec 1955 (Traynor,McLaughlin,Flood,Walker,Mulgrew and Hoskins), is that correct ? As Lee's goal was scored as a sub (for Alex) and subs were not allowed until 69 (??) should the comparison be with 5 different scorers ? In which case I believe there are a number with 5 :- 79-80 Seaweed (H) 5-1 76-77 Carlisle (a) 6-0 70-71 Palace (H) 6-0 63-64 S****horpe (H) 7-2 (5 Saints scorers + o.g.) 61-62 S****horpe (H) 6-4 60-61 Cheats FC (4 Saints scorers + o.g.) p.s. BEWARE in true Saints fashion the next game and/or next home game have been disappointing !!! After Torquay - (a) 1-3 (h) 1-1 After Brighton - (a) 2-2 (h) 1-1 After Carlisle - (h) 2-2 (a) 2-2 After S****hrope - (h) 2-3 lose to the Cheats Fc. ladysaint Posted 12 January, 2011 Share Posted 12 January, 2011 Was only at Wolves out of those 3, I always seem to go to those that you wish to forget i.e. the 7 1 defeats against Liverpool ,Everton and Watford.
gordonToo Posted 12 January, 2011 Share Posted 12 January, 2011 Some of us can add the 9-3 thrashing of wolves in the 60's to the list as well.

spyinthesky Posted 12 January, 2011 Share Posted 12 January, 2011 Some of us can add the 9-3 thrashing of wolves in the 60's to the list as well. We went 1-0 down in this game (Tony Knapp OG??) Wolves were in top form at the time so this was a wonderful result Seem to recollect that we scored the 9th with about 15-20 mins to go and the crowd kept chanting 'We want 10' think we hit the woodwork a couple of times. This at a time when the atmosphere at the Dell was fairly sedate Of course we signed the Wolves keeper Dave Maclaren soon after but he didnt do well for us. Remember the Milton Rd end singing some time after - 'No Goals today Maclaren's gone away, we've got a Goalkeeper his name is Gerry Gurr'.. to the Herman's Hermit's song 'No milk today'

Thanks for the song a great memory revived.

Papa Shango Posted 12 January, 2011 Share Posted 12 January, 2011 Wasn't born for the Carlisle game, but was at Wolves and Oldham last night. The Wolves game we didn't even play THAT well, and they weren't bad at all. We had 6 shots all game and they all went in. Would have been happy with a draw last night before the game. Thought we could possibly scrape a narrow win, but never would have thought we would have brushed them aside so comfortably. Hard to pick a MOTM last night because the whole team was fantastic. Cricketphilly Posted 12 January, 2011 Share Posted 12 January, 2011 Was at Wolves, who remembers the "Sammy Chungs a Chinese takeaway" chant ? where is Sammy Chung now? That's dreadful chant, very 'Comedians' circa 75! I hope you didnt join in.
