wonder have we been fortunate seeing our finals?

There was a discussion on the radio about the relative merits of old, new Wembley and Cardiff.

Suddenly thought how lucky I have been to see a team the size of saints play finals at all three locations.

I wonder how many other clubs' fans can say the same as us?

Simply cannot beat the real Wembley for that tingle down the spine though. Much like the Dell experience, it hit you as soon as you saw the floodlights from a distance and when you stood there looking up at the twin towers it was almost spiritual.

New Wembley's alright but really has no emotional vavavoom

New Wembley is nice. But thats it. Nice toilets, nice refreshment areas, nice leg room, nice view. But it's no good for football. No atmosphere. It's been built with the family/customer in mind rather than the fan.

Cardiff is 10 times better even before they close the roof.

The thing I hate most with a passion is the semi final being played there.

New Wembley, the Stadium is stunning and a brilliant venue... New Wembley (much like Old Wembley really) for matchday experience is not a patch on Cardiff, it's the arse end of nowhere, horrible area, difficult to get to.

Cardiff you roll (literally) off the train and then crawl the pubs until you get to the stadium, amazing day out!!

I've seen:

Saints v Forest - ZDS cup final - (old) Wembley

Saints v Arsenal - FA Cup final - Cardiff

Saints v Carlisle - JPT final - (new) Wembley (a win at the third time of asking!!)

Who else thinks Cardiff is miles better than the new Wembley?

Having been back there for the first time in about 3 years on Saturday... absolutely. The Millennium Stadium is a much better stadium for fans' proximity to the action as there's no massive area between the pitch and the stands, you don't get a vast swathe of empty corporate boxes all the time, the transport links are about as bad as Wembley (the queue outside the train station for up to 2 hours afterwards is a tad annoying) but with Cardiff at least you have an option to disappear off around the city to get something decent to eat or an un-rammed pub for a beer, rather than have to pile into a Wembley kebab shop in lieu of anywhere decent.

Both have rubbish toilet facilities, I walked 3 blocks away to get to a loo with a short queue on Saturday, but then at the JPT Final we were borrowing a mate's crutches to use the disabled toilet, the wait was so long.

Wembley's still Wembley of course, but it's always been popular for its status not its facilities.

I was lucky enough to be at these three as well. Cardiff was the only one that truely sticks in the memory as amazing day to be a Saints fan. Maybe the importance of the competition played a part, in fact Villa park for the semi was pretty special as well.
