Pilchards Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 Can't get the image up for some reason. I love this table as it shows us as the new Leeds, I believe Fonte has committed most fouls.
Fowllyd Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 More fouls but fewer serious ones perhaps? We're nowhere near the top on bookings and have just the one sending-off (Gobern's comic turn!). Plymouth have reached double figures for sendings off - crikey!

alpine_saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 The stats emphasize the suspicion I got last night that Charlton are the new Leeds. Dirty bastards.
Wes Tender Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 The table isn't a very good measure of dirty play at all. We might have been guilty of most fouls, but we're way down the table in terms of the yellow and red cards and penalties scored against us, which would be the far more accurate measure of dirty play
magnet Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 Leyton and Rochdale have commited the least so looks like we could be battering them to death Sat/Tues :-)

Lighthouse Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 Remember that count also includes offsides Would explain why Charlton are 3rd.
beancounter saint Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 Would explain why Charlton are 3rd. And Plymouth well up there, but don't think anyone's ever been sent off for being offside!!
VectisSaint Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 Actually the table to me shows exactly the opposite of what the OP thinks. It shows that we compete, without being dirty. yes we commit fouls, but they are generally not dirty fouls otherwise we would have more yellows and reds. I am quite pleased by this table, it makes me think that we are not the pushovers we have often been in the past. It also shows we are well-disciplined at the back only to have conceded 3 pens, and 1 of those was Oxo's at Posh which was shown clearly not to have been a pen (in fact 2 of them were in that game). well done Saints, competitive, well-disciplined and fair. All good points. If you divide the total number of fouls by the number of bookings, that gives an idea of the proportion of fouls that are serious. So MK Dons, for example, have a low total of fouls (355), but around one sixth of these (60) resulted in bookings; they've also had nine players sent off, which is the highest except for Plymouth. In contrast, just over a tenth of our fouls have resulted in bookings - 51 from 478. The third penalty we've conceded was Brighton at home, and that looked like a very poor decision to me. This. Coupled with the fact that the amount of fouls probably tells you something about the amount of challenges that we are making during the game, which in turn would point to a high workrate level. It would also indicate that we are making the challenges in the 'right areas' of the pitch as well.
paulwantsapint Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 a lot of our fouls are when rickie & barney put their backs into defenders hands or ankles onto defenders boots
PhilippineSaint Posted 6 April, 2011 Share Posted 6 April, 2011 the table should read like an Olympic medal table with red being the gold yellow the silver and fouls the bronze. read it that way and its completely different. if some one would like to rearrange it like that it would be appreciated as i am a lazy b'std
