Ludwig Posted 10 January, 2009 Share Posted 10 January, 2009 Jeff Stelling's just referred to our Molyneux, ex-Everton starting for us today, first start etc. blah blah. But then was talking about him having played for Forest Green and having been at Oxford previously, which is the right-back Lee Molyneaux who is a free agent. Have we got the right one? :smt044
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 10 January, 2009 Share Posted 10 January, 2009 Yep, heard that too. Very confused. Found this on Soccerbase: http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=38934

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 10 January, 2009 Share Posted 10 January, 2009 This is what I found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Molyneux_(footballer) This is the one that they're talking about, and I think they're wrong. This one is 25 and that is far too old for our team. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Molyneaux
Moscow Saint (Zhezlov) Posted 10 January, 2009 Share Posted 10 January, 2009 Looks like the official site is correct - he's come from Everton: http://www.evertonfc.com/player-profile/lee-molyneux

BotleySaint Posted 10 January, 2009 Share Posted 10 January, 2009 Solent just said he went to Forest Green, played 4 games and then dropped out of football. Now plays for Saints.
VectisSaint Posted 10 January, 2009 Share Posted 10 January, 2009 Everton seem to think he left them to join us (out of contract) http://www.evertonfc.com/match/transfers.html The Forest Green Rovers bloke is a right back by the way.

Window Cleaner Posted 10 January, 2009 Share Posted 10 January, 2009 We could do with one of those. Not this one we couldn't. Played for Weymouth once upon a time or so it would seem. Mind you Andy Townsend came from there and he was pretty useful.

Greenridge Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 I seem to recall some slightly strange wording on the OS article announcing the signing of Molyneaux. It read something like 'the ex-Everton player' which of course was true but not normally the turn of phrase you'd use in that scenario. Can't find the article on the OS now though. Maybe he did go somewhere between Everton and us?
ulstersaint Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Not often that Jeff Stelling slips us. Always impressed by him on Sky - very eloquent and articulate and never lost for words - a class act. But I was listening to him tonight when he was in a phone conversation with a studio and he was dreadful -a constant stream of "you knows" and "I mean" and lots of stumbling. Don't know how he is so different on Saturdays unless it is due to prompts via PC and earpiece.

Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 11 January, 2009 Share Posted 11 January, 2009 Probably because he was released by Everton. According to the Everton website he was on a week to week contract until we signed him. So I guess they released him on a free to join us.
