For all those wetting their pants over Saganowski....he was rubbish last season, did not set the world alight at Aalborg so don't expect too much. As Chez said....vastly overrated.

And for all those Mcgoldrick knockers......he now has 10 goals and is on course for around 20 for the season. the same sort of number as Rasiak/John......the players who people think are God (for some unfathomable reason).

I think the biggest problem is Saganowsi is on a different wavelength to everyone else. The were no good balls into his feet, everything was pushed into space for him to run to, but although he got to a lot of them there was no support.

Supporters got behind him as although he showed very little I thought McGoldrick and BWP had more space and time to do what they did best.

A few more training sessions and a bit more of understanding between the forwards will see him make more space and create more chances for the younger ones. At least when the ball was cleared he was there putting pressure on their defenders.

I know sometimes it's easy to say "Nothing Spectacular" - but I think he really is a different class to the rest of the forwards...it's called experience!

How can he be on course for 20 goals?! We've played 31 games so far this season (league and cup) and only have 19 left!

He has 9, if you include the 2 against Exeter & the one that really should be Lallana's & a penalty and that is in 31 games (so 5 from open play in 27 meaningful games)

With 19 games to go and hitting the same strike rate he would be in line for something like 14 goals this season (not sure where your projection of 20 comes from).

I would agree with all of that, but equally I have to concede that we do have a big problem in scoring goals. If we can afford to use him, I cannot argue with giving a decent run and seeing how it goes. McG is a work in progress and fully understand fans frustrations with him, but there are very good prospects and with sufficient arse kicks and the proverbial penny slotting into place, could be all that we wanted him to be. As for Saga being misunderstood I think that is definitely true, from the teams he has played for and how tf he earns so much.

He never got a consistent run out. Look back at the stats written many times by Arizona which proves that we won a higher percentage of games when Saga played and also that Stern John scored a lot more goals when partnered by Saga.

Although it is how strikers are judged, it's not just about goals with Saga - it's what he brings to the team. Stern got the vast majority of his goals last season when playing alongside Saga.

He adds experience and a good work-rate. If anyone seriously would rather have DMG and Paterson up front they are clearly as insane as JP and RL.

Obviously you and Chez went to the game yesterday. Would be interested to hear your player ratings. Thanks.

Davis 8 - had to make too many saves for my liking. Playing with great confidence -thankfully

James 5 - as usual not bad on the ball (he looked very composed) but defensively he doesn't get tight enough or win enough in the air. He's improved in the last few weeks but this was the same old fare IMO. I think he saved a certain goal.

Perry 6 last gasp (on his arse) stuff too often tells me he is well past his best. Gives his all mind. Kept a higher line than against Manure which helped. Still too many chances in the air from set peices shows up his lack of height.

Seijs 7 A ball winner. Hallelujah. He improved as the game went on after a shakey start. His height is crucial with the lack of it around him. We could do with another like him especially for games against the likes of Watford.

Molyneux 6 I thought their wide man caused him problems but for a debut he didn't do too bad. I don't think he has much to live up to in Skacel, but he's certainly no Bridge/Bale. I don't want to judge him until he's been here a couple of months though.

Schneiderlin 6 he looks so good on the ball but he fails to control the game for long periods. Needs to do far more especially when it comes to competing for second balls. I can't recall a decent tackle in the game. Its essential he stays fit though as Gillett has not done enough.

Surman 6 some decent runs off the ball that weren't found. Him and Schneiderlin are OK on the ball, but neither grab enough second ball. Our soft centre hurts us now we are not dominating posession. Lallana's return will help.

McGoldrick 4 I personally think he works harder when he leads the line rather than plays in the hole. In that position he looks lost (not knowing when to get in the biox and when to drop off). Decent goal but has to byst a gut to be there more often.

BWP 3 get to the byeline FFS. I'm a fan but he looks lost out wide. He needs to play upfront running the channels.

Saga 3 never seemed to be where the ball was. For me he needs a big man t play off. Not someone that leads the line on his own.

Holmes 5 Busy as always but compare the threat he offered to that of Cambell Ryce. His lack of pace means he never got past the full back.

Although Saga didn't make much of an impact today' date=' he didn't get a great amount of service. Nevertheless, I think we surely have to play him at home, as those are the games where we are creating chances but not converting them.[/quote']

I know its irrelevant for this week, but looking forward do you think he would be better playing just off Patterson or leading the line in front of McGoldrick/Lallana?
