Getting injured every time you play football 😂

I like to think for my age im pretty fit for my age, go to crossfit 4 times a week and do one long run a week, but i play football maybe once a month and every single time i play now i end up getting injured.

You reach a point eventually where you're permanently injured and just have to play on trying not to make the more major issues any worse.

Maybe but I can do a 30 minute CrossFit metcon doing snatches, pull ups, running rowing  etc no bother but try and dribble round a 20 year old at 5 a side and my ankle Knee goes 😂

Pretty sure God says somewhere in the Bible: Thou shalt not play football past the age of 45 without getting injured.

Although you stand a chance if not played loads as a kid and through your twenties as ankles and knees definitely can’t take it past 40 if you have played a bit.

Watching a scene in Stranger Things with my teenage daughter where they are calling a number from a phone booth and hearing the sound of a modem on the other end, then trying to explain that's how we used to have to connect to the internet. She just looked at me with bemusement when I told her it would sometimes take about 5 minutes to download a single picture and would disconnect when my mum would pick up the phone to call Aunt Betty in Scotland so I would have to wait an hour before I could reconnect.

Remembering working in IT before there even was an Internet.

The first "mainframe" I worked on, though only for a couple of months as it was being decommissioned, was an old Honeywell with 32Kb of memory. It had a paper tape reader and used punched cards for reading the programs. We had a massive state of the art computer room, with the Honeywell and 2 ICL mainframes, possibly with less total computing power than the latest iPhone.

I started my career as an apprentice for one of the big 4 retail banks in 1986, and part of our training was how to program punched cards. I distinctly remember people pushing trollies of punched cards up and down the corridor to load up into the mainframe... We did a bit of COBOL too, which was ultra modern at the time

One thing that pisses me off is I can't remember the first website I ever visited when using the internet for the first time. You'd have thought such a monumental event would have stuck in my memory banks! I do remember the first time I went "online" though... Home telephone handset inserted awkwardly into two conjoined rubber cups... Et voila... Prestel!

ha, we had a similar thing when we watched it. My son said, what people used to have phones stuck on the wall? Like it was the most archaic thing he'd ever seen.

I can! It was Teamtalk. A mate of mine was working for them at the time so he told me about it so looked on there. Shortly after someone at work told me about the old saintsforever site and here i am still posting bollocks and spending far too much time on it 27 or so years later FFS

Mine was Saints Teamtalk as well - was 1996 and Souness manager when he signed a lot of players so it was in overdrive!

Not sure we ever signed a player that they linked us with though. Kept on getting linked with a forward called Romeo Van Wouderen or similar from Heerenveen.

Wish we’d signed Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink later on just to hear Dave Merrington pronounce it.

I remember we were linked with Matt Jansen everyday for months. Each article claiming the deal was close but of course in true saints style he went to Blackburn instead. We still missed out on our targets when the internet was invented

Yes, I remember that. Can’t remember if that was when he was at Carlisle or had moved to Palace by then. Pity about that motorbike accident. Doubt if they’d be allowed to by insurance and contract clauses these days.
