Mole Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 When asked on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday whether appointing a fresh face would have been a better course of action for Saints to take, Le Tissier said: “You would have thought so. "That would be the normal thinking but sadly at board level at the moment normal thinking goes out of the window sometimes. “It (appointing Wotte) is the cheap option and it’s probably the only option we could afford because things are not looking too bright on the financial front at the moment.” Well said Matt. SaintRobbie Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 "That would be the normal thinking but sadly at board level at the moment normal thinking goes out of the window sometimes." another quote Loved that one.... as close a direct attack on Lowe as I have heard from MLT. Matt is talking sense and I like it. More!!! He also made x2 comments this afternoon during his general commentary... Firstly he said that Doncaster and Saints were playing the nicest football in the league but obviously it doesnt work in the CCC and other approaches are needed. Secondly, he made reference to teams lacking experienced players being poor. Stelling also made the point that all our loanees scored and what Saints fans must be making of this. We have some support in the media now... its important we build upon this quickly.

dubai_phil Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 Not wishing to rain , on anyone's parade but MLT was also underwhelmed in the media when we replaced Dodd & Gorman with Pearson. As were most on here AT THE TIME! (Oh and he wasn't banned for those comments if I recall correctly) and yes I know it was a different regime.... I agree with the concerns over Wotte and really think he is not even close to what we need right now, but not happy we keep re-writing history. dubai_phil Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 Who is re-writing history ? OK so a more accurate question would be MLT questions managerial appointment for the second time. Will this lead to a breakdown in relations with the Board that leads to him getting banned? Chill Alp's I understand what you mean on this (oh and btw you were right to keep *****ing about the experiment ok!) but in fairness we never once went back after we "fell in love" with NP and said - Why did MLT who is a legend and knows everything criticise Pearson's appointment? (Because like us he went - who? at the time!) Anyway like you am not happy with things
dubai_phil Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 It happens to the best of us! I always laugh, my mentor in analysis is Basil Fawlty in a row with Sybil who said - there you go stating the bleedin obvious as usual! There's no way I'd pick an argument with Alps, he's actually been right, I was being a bit more late night frivolous. But also being more realistic (ie obvious) who kept Lowe in the gravy train, allowed him the platform to become a member of the FA? MLT of course by keeping us up for so many years and actually letting Lowe build Camelot and it's catering facilities, so the idea of the person responsible for Lowe being in power being banned is actually funneh! (see what I did there - new slant - it's MLT's fault we're stuck with Lowe....shouldn't have kept us up single handed for so long)

Arizona Posted 24 January, 2009 Share Posted 24 January, 2009 Utterly ridiculous. And a bloody cheek. Well, I've counted just the 6 comments having a dig at you for picking such a sensationalist thread title. Is it really that big a deal that I've changed it so as not to mislead people? All Matt has done is fired some well aimed criticism at the running of a club. There has been no response from the board condeming his comments, let alone reason to think he will be banned. Yes, it is a big deal. The thread title was deliberately chosen. It covers TWO issues for discusion. There is not only the issue of a club legend who is normally reticent to criticise the club management making the comments he did, but the suspicion held in many quarters about how the current plc chairman has a major issue in the way he deals with criticism of his performance in the local and national media. You have pandered to some childish foot-stamping and multiple posting by 3 people, when actually about 10 others responded without abuse. I broke no site rules on thread titles.
