St Landrew Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 From those nominated, once again we have a final 6 of players who were nominated more than once. Please don't bother making comments about democracy, Shayne Bradley and Jordan Robertson. I'm still scooping my sides off the floor. Ta. Near misses were: James Beattie, George O'Brien, Frank Worthington and Charlie Wayman. They may still be picked for the subs benches in either team. But the final 6 are [nominations in brackets]: Martin Chivers [6] Steve Moran [3] Peter Osgood [2] Marian Pahars [2] Alan Shearer [3] Rod Wallace [2] Get voting. Ends Friday night/Saturday Morning. dubai_phil Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Big bloke little bloke combination, as we already have Keegan I'd go for Chivers. Tough call though

Minsk Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Even though I nominated Shearer, Steve Moran formed a great partnership with Keegan so I voted for him.
krissyboy31 Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 (edited) A tough one but I voted Moran, who if it weren't for his back injury would have been an even better player. Just a question. If we are later voting subs for both A and B teams, wouldn't the 'B' team players be automatically available as subs for the 'A' team? Or are we voting for professional subs like David Puckett? TijuanaTim Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Big bloke little bloke combination, as we already have Keegan I'd go for Chivers. Tough call though Perfect combo...trouble is most don't know what a star big Chiv was here, so they'll go for a newer name - so it's worth considering Moran as he was the architypal modern striker and tbf did so much more than than the injured Latvian (as much as we all love Pahars). Chiv for the little/large combo...if you have no clue about Martin Chivers then just remember Moran was our top scorer when we were runners-up and broke the skates hearts at fartton as well!! Ponty Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Isn't it Marians, rather than Marian? Pahars for me, anyway.
norwaysaint Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 I think all Latvian men's names end with s, so yes, it is Marians.
paulwantsapint Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Case of age decides , Pahars did more than Shearer while in red & white

revolution saint Posted 26 January, 2009 Share Posted 26 January, 2009 Moran for me. My first football hero and the fella we all wanted to be in the playground. It's a tough call though. Pahars was just too injury prone and Shearer wasn't prolific enough whilst he was here (not his fault though). Sadly never saw Chivers so can't really comment. Marino Posted 27 January, 2009 Share Posted 27 January, 2009 Another vote for Steve Moran - in his heyday was there anyone sharper inside the box ?
alexdawkins Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 chivers, george o'brien, ron davies, and derek reeves are the 4 most prolific front men we've had. pahars was great, but only scored 43 goals in 137 games.
St Landrew Posted 31 January, 2009 Author Share Posted 31 January, 2009 The poll is closed. That makes the B Team line up as follows: ----------------------Niemi---------------------- Dodd------Lundekvam------Watson---------Dennis D.Wallace----Williams---------Case--------Marsden -------------Keegan--------Pahars--------------- There will be no usual poll this week. Later on I'll ask people to come up with 5 players for each team to go on the subs bench. Details later.
