Baird of the land Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Pretty getting cash for a 29 yr old in a position where at least on paper we’ve got some strong in depth for this level of football.

He would have been a starter going into this one too. We ended up getting a lot of appearances for such a small investment. As posted earlier, he went some way to come back after the Polish international incident and his failed time at Villa. It's not certain, but hopefully the likes of Edwards and Quarshie will minimise the impact of losing a starting player. 2
Gloucester Saint Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago 8 years service during the club’s second worst spell in living memory, 250 appearances, got our money back, could’ve been a lot worse. Hoedt, Vestergaard and others were signed for far more money and were total turd, not even that good really, so can’t complain too much about Jan. He’s been part of some horrific moments - 2x 9-0 - but then the club has been horrific to support 2017-present bar Ralph’s first few months and Project Restart, so hardly his fault in a lot of ways. 3

Charlie Wayman Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Nice message from Jan Bednarek. He's been a good servant to this club, He should leave with our blessing and good wishes for his future. Thanks Jan. 4

Must admit I hadn’t realised he’d been with us that long. Normally you’d be full of praise for the long service. But it’s a strange one with Bednarek despite 8 years, he’s been one of our stable players, nothing spectacular. Signed at 21, shame he didn’t have a Fonte or VVD to help him through early stages. Has never really stood out, didn’t have the height (of Toby, or VVD), and clearly didn’t have the pace of some of them. Full international (about 70 caps) for Poland, a good international side over the years, so no slouch. But difficult to decide if he’s been a victim of us being shit, or a major contributor to that. Perhaps his most consistent year for us was in the Championship, although still looked susceptible to pace. Good move for him though, hope it works out. 2
Badger Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Despite all the niceties and wishes for him I’m afraid this is likely to remain the lasting and prominent memory I have of his time with us; Sorry Jan, but would have been comical if it hadn’t been us, (Goal at Rotherham went some way of repaying it .. but not as funny !)
