If you thought beating the PL champions and getting to a Wembley semi-final where we gave Man City a bloody nose was just a distraction then maybe supporting football isn't for you.

The confidence that came from that cup run bled through into our league performances, and our ability to rotate regularly without dropping massively in quality meant it didn't cause unwanted fatigue.

This idea that we shouldn't take the cups seriously and just concentrate on the league is utter nonsense.

Late reply alert 😂 Get what you're saying, and I am only talking about this season as it's so critical. There's 6 playoff places up for grabs this time round and will be many more teams genuinely fighting for a playoff place come the tail end of the season. Easier games will be scarce.

There's definitely an argument for momentum, but a game every three days is tough...will our squad this season be as resilient / versatile? Genuinely hope so.

Ludicrous pricing, especially as the game is being shown live on Sky.

As a comparison, last season I’m almost certain I paid £25 for the Arsenal cup quarter final game, the same price as they’re charging for the carabao cup second round this season. Fucking laughable really. Yet another commercial cluster fuck

What was the price for Leicester home 4th round of the FA Cup? I'm sure that was considerably cheaper

Wow that makes no sense at all, FA Cup (better competition) on a Saturday 3pm and we charged a great price to get families in

Now Carabao Cup 2nd round and they're treating it like the Arsenal game.

Just had a quick look and ticket sales are unsurprisingly incredibly low for West Ham, could be a 10k crowd including 3k Hammers

I may be completely wrong here but don't prices for cup matches have to be agreed by both teams. Do WHU get a share of the gate receipts, if so perhaps £25 was as low as they would go?

Not any more, and for the first round West Ham charged £10 adults and kids for a quid and were rewarded with a huge crowd vs Pompey

But you forget, the only reason West Ham got 60,000 was to see the biggest club in the world. Let’s face it it’s not often West Ham fans get to see giants like Portsmouth.

Just buy a ticket and stop this becoming the biggest embarrassment of our fan base for a number of years.

It’s £10 more than you would’ve been prepared to pay for.  Yes, a bit to much but what can you do for £25 these days.

Anyone else want to predict the attendance? Charging £25 as they have done, it will be a struggle to sell more than 15k tickets, or they could have priced tickets around £15 and got around 25k bums on seats.

Either way, takings would be about the same, but the bigger stadium crowd would make for a far more positive experience... assuming the result doesn't upset the fans even further. I don't begrudge the club on trying to maximise revenue but everyone knows this competition doesn't matter this season and the crowds aren't going to be up for this one with ticket prices that high.

Yeah the club really haven’t read the room with this. ST price rises I can accept, but surely just get bums on seats in a cup competition that nobody really cares about. Especially with three home games in a week

The club would rather sell 10,000 at £25 than 30,000 at £5. It’s just basic maths unfortunately.

The sweet spot would have been around £15-£18 IMO.

Is anyone really going to be embarrassed by it? I think it'd be hilarious if there was a tiny crowd.

Maybe people staying away here will lead to cheaper prices next time?

Surprised they've not given West Ham more as we're clearly not going to need to open the Kingsland.

Who gives a shit about it being an embarrassing attendance? When you have to budget what games you go to during a season, I'm afraid paying this much for a second round tie against West Ham is just too much.

£25. That’s five pints and a shag in Wales.

I personally would be.

The entitlement to watch a game for peanuts makes me laugh, have a go at the club for not buying a new centre forward but can't cough up £25 when they'd pay £18.  Bonkers in my mind.

That sounds like a you problem tbh.

Can you point to where I've had a go at the club about not buying a centre forward?

I wouldn't have paid £18 either for what it's worth.

Apparently it's more expensive if you want your sheep through the dip first.

I was thinking of going but I'm having an important delivery sometime that week, haven't heard yet, so risking those prices is just too much. I don't have the budgeting difficulties others will have but glad to come out in solidarity and curb their enthusiasm for silly pricing.

I'm generalising idiotic football fans.  I reckon you fit that narrative, do you shout shoot from 40 yards, and ffs pass it forwards 100 times per game as well.

I am a hypocrite as moaned a lot about the prices but also bought 5 (wanted to take kids), need to seek help for football addiction

Sat close to the home dugout so if we play the kids and get thrashed I can direct my criticism

I think the only way they have of shifting a few more tickets for this now is by putting in an outstanding performance and result Saturday that leaves fans desperate for more. £27+ still rules me out though.

Should never have been over £15 with 3 home games in a week,

Not sure you're in the best place to be casting aspersions when you've said you're going to be embarrassed by a low football attendance tbh.

I’m proud of my city, my club, and I like us to be viewed to have a decent fan base. Hence embarrassment.

I suspect others feel the same way, I’m fortunate to not have to worry about money but I understand money is tight and i think it’s over priced. Slightly. But I also think supporters expect something for nothing these days.  If you can afford it and would pay £15/20 suck it up and support the club.

I’m also 40 years and can’t be assed to argue on a fans forum any longer 😂. So I’ll bid you a nice evening.
