Monkeyboy Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Hopefully the West Ham game means they’re going to be told to get after us and press. We’ve already shown this season we can beat a press and are pretty lethal when we get beyond it.

Does Matsuki drifting into a number 10 position to score his goal mean he also made a tactical switch to play as a false 9 type role? So technically he was playing as an inside forward no? No, Matsuki was playing in central midfield, not as a number 10 or a false 9 from the 69th minute onwards after Scienza went off. Ward-Prowse went wide left, Matsuki in the Ward-Prowse central role.

TheAlehouseBrawlers Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I know Wade G's gonna deliver his scathing verdict on the Taffs at some point but had a little scoot over their forum, they're not generally overly confident about this game and at least one of them is talking sense... LeG Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Phil Parkinson will take one look at what Lincoln did and try to emulate...so expect direct high balls into the box. Only they won't be as good, we will be expecting it, and we will win 4-1 2

From a cursory check we’ve had the hardest start out of any of our main competitors i.e. West Ham, Boro, Wolves etc. Yet without the points deduction we’d be sitting second. It all bodes well. Now need a win on the road. Different ways of looking at it. We've also only played one of the top seven and not yet come up against W.Ham, Boro or Wolves. Had a great night out earlier in the year at their place. Think it's not in their DNA to sit back and defend, so hoping for a similar scoreline this time. And if staying overnight, fully agree with those recommending the stay in Chester option.

Yes, but if those teams had beaten us (I.e. Bristol, Swansea, Millwall, Birmingham etc) then they would all be sitting more comfortably in the top 7. In summary, looking at the table at this stage of the season is relatively pointless. Also, Chester is significantly nicer than Wrexham. Even if not staying over, you could hop off the train and have a few beers there, before heading on to Wrexham (there's a good pub in the station at Chester and a few others within about a 3 minute walk). 1

SNSUN Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Our Line up against them away last season when we won 5-1 had Edozie, THB, Charles and Jack starting, otherwise it is the same as our starting line up is now. We've replaced THB with Schlotterbeck, arguably Wood is better than Jack, JWP has slotted in well and is not a downgrade on Shea and Scienza over Edozie is a no brainer. Ergo IMO we are will put out a stronger team than we did earlier in the year. Obviously question marks over Flynn (he should be fit according to Tonda), and whether Jander will be back (give him the International break to get fit), but put the strongest side out and hope for a similar scoreline. Peretz, Bree, Wood, Schlotterbeck, Manning, Downes, JWP, Matsuki, Azaz, Scienza, Larin. No brainer. Tricky to see past a Saints win right now but stranger things have happened.

Its really not that hard to see past a Saints win, just watch back any of our away performances so far this season, we have very recently failed to beat three very unremarkable sides

Watford (first game of the season, very physical, kicked us off the pitch first 15min, home crowd well up for it). Birmingham (away under the lights, only 3 teams won there all last season, very physical side - and a difficult place to get a win regardless) Lincoln (newly promoted, home crowd and team full of confidence, and a extremely physical side - probably the most physical in the league)... So all in, a draw isn't the worst result. Wrexham (fan and player morale through the floor, they got a hiding from us last time we played them there which will be in their minds, but they still remain reasonably physical)... I think the general factors that weighed against us in the other 3 away games will not be as significant in this game.... And clearly our confidence is starting to flow. A win is there for the taking, but as alehouse says, funnier things have happened. Tends to be the games where both sets of fans expect the same result that deliver the shocks... 🫣 Edited 39 minutes ago by Saint86
