SoccerMom Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11407 Didn't see any other threads on this - guess no one goes to the OS anymore. Good luck to the lad - just what he needs. IMHO a very talented player who, God willing, we'll be able to hold onto.

Foxstone Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 He is very promising and will no doubt challenge for a regular start next season. In the meantime this will be good for the lad and good for us. Good Luck to him.
Chez Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 I also thought he did well for us. Love the way he flys into tackles whole heartedly if perhaps a little recklessly. This loan spell is just what he needs and if/when Rudi leaves in the summer maybe he will be our first choice and not Molyneux.

SFC Forever Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 Good move for a change. He is gaining experience and saving us his wages, small as they probably are.

a1ex2001 Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 Good move for a change. He is gaining experience and saving us his wages, small as they probably are. Why do people assume that just because he is out on loan we are not paying his wages? I'm sure in 90% of loans like this where we are sending a player out for development not because we don't want them then we will still be paying his wages. Bailey Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 I actually think that Mills is a much better prospect than Molyneux. He gets forward well, is good defensively and for a small lad, he wins his fair share of headers. The loan move will do him good too. Some regular first-team football will give him invaluable experience that will only benefit him long term. He should come back to Saints a better player for it and I wouldn't be surprised if he was our main LB next season, whatever division we're in. Give it to Ron Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 Silly question but where does the name "Fish" come into Joseph Mills? I believe it comes from his inability to say his name or his brothers name and it sounded like Fish so the name stuck.
SoccerMom Posted 24 February, 2009 Author Share Posted 24 February, 2009 Silly question but where does the name "Fish" come into Joseph Mills? As a small child, one of his big brothers couldn't say "Joseph" so apparently he's been called "Fish" ever since he was a sprog.

CB Fry Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 Except it was an emergency loan which they are more likely to be wanting to keep us happy as we are doing them a favour in their time of need! "Emergency Loan" is just a fig leaf to get round the EU's/UEFA's/Whoever's rule-it-is rules. S****horpe aren't actually in an emergency situation - all loans in the CC Leagues this time of year are "emergencies". That said, I agree with you - S****horpe probably are paying the wages in this case.
SaintDonkey Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 (edited) I don't know what they're like this year but I thought Scunny were a decent footballing side last season. Played attractive passing football - just the players weren't good enough for the Championship. Could be a very good place for Fish to go. Well, they've still got Nigel Adkins as their manager so I presume they play pretty much the same way. Obviously, they don't have Cork this season, who was their PoY last season but they are doing pretty well (in the playoff places) and could end up passing us, on the way to promotion. CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 24 February, 2009 Share Posted 24 February, 2009 I hope they look after him for us , because I reckon this lad has real talent and he's going to become decent player before very long .

I like what I've seen of the lad and would be delighted if he did turn out to be the long term resident of the Saint's left back slot.
