OldNick Posted 26 February, 2009 Share Posted 26 February, 2009 quote from Wes Tender; 'Have we really found some common ground that unites nearly all of the fan base? Perhaps we should make this the subject of a separate thread, investigate the opinions of others and hold a poll on it. If that poll proves overwhelmingly that the mood of the fan base is that all of those with historic associations with the club as major shareholders are not allowed a seat on the board, then we can face those board members past and present and demand that they step aside to make way for independent replacements.e way the fans can unite again? [end quote] I myself have problems with many of the people who have played a part in the clubs demise. All the people who were involved(profitted) in the reverse takeover to now need to be gone if we are ever going to get unity. I dont wish to see RL gone and then the same old faces still feeding from the trough

Mind you the list is quite long so maybe we should string them up along Brittania Road in a sort of Spartacus manner
Weston Saint Posted 26 February, 2009 Share Posted 26 February, 2009 How about the stay aways because of the way the club is being run, particularly Lowe, pick a game where they all agree to attend but first sending out a missive to the board that they are going to do that to show what they are missing? That might be a positive protest. If it took the attendance beyond the break even figure it would be food for thought not only for the board but the banks and future investors. That's quite a clever idea. It would need the right PR to hammer the point home though. That these people are going in spite of the board and running of the club. Otherwise I could just see Lowe saying 'I told you I would get them back'.

It would have to be against one of the less glamourous fixtures (not that there are many glamourous ones) eg not against QPR who bring a good following. dubai_phil Posted 26 February, 2009 Share Posted 26 February, 2009 fair enough you dont agree Phil. You believe that RL or another is solely to blame or are they all innocent? I have been saying since before the time that Crouch launched his pre-emptive coup to gain control that they either work together or go. Unlike some I do not sway my opnion based on what a Stanley or a Luvvie may preach, simply that "the 3 amigos" (ie majority shareholders/proxies) must be all in or all out. Realistically until they are made gone by somebody who buys them out, that means they HAVE to work together. Never changed that stance And what I ADD to that is when I say all OUT that means EVERY single hanger-on, who has held a position of influence and has preached AT us for one side OR the other OR has failed to deliver on promises. Because not ONE of them has been able to get us OUT of this mess! THAT list is a hell of a lot longer than one name.........

I dont wish to see RL gone and then the same old faces still feeding from the trough Thats a key quote for me.. Another re-arrangement of the deckchairs without any other constructive solutions is not the way forward. All that will result is the same old divisions, the same old arguments and the same old inertia. We need now a whole new fresh input from new faces with new energy, new ideas and no axes to grind or baggage to carry. As I have mentioned on other threads we seem to be awash with influential and indeed wealthy fans exclusive of the current "faces", and I am a little perplexed that many seem to have stepped away and washed their hands. Can A Salz work again to facilitate a solution ?

Very good idea, would help to prove or disprove the myth about the 5k, however, just one game may not be enough as many factors may influence it(some may go just to see how many go), why not send the message that commencing from the Derby game, the stay aways will attend all home games(5) till the end of the season. stevegrant Posted 26 February, 2009 Share Posted 26 February, 2009 That is a good idea. It would have to be against one of the less glamourous fixtures (not that there are many glamourous ones) eg not against QPR who bring a good following. The only one that would vaguely pass as "unattractive" would be the Derby game, but that's mostly because it's an evening game. I guess Palace could be an option, depending on whether you view them as "attractive" opposition. Burnley would have been had it not been the last home game of the season. Of course, also, by that time, it's the end of the season so it would be a bit of a bizarre message to send: "this is what you're missing out on this season - oh, hang on, there aren't any more games!" A lot would not gto and pay to 'put money in RL's pocket.' Surely by just making the effort to go and stand by the Bates statue would asleast show fans like myself who are sceptical that there is a large swathe of fans staying away due to RL. I have yet to have had a proper reply to why 32000 turned up to watch the Man u game when RL was the chairman this season.Surely that tells us what we have always suspected a large amount of fans only can be bothered to turn up for glamour games or opposition, it has very little to do with who is in charge. Very true Steve. i myself doubt that there would be much of an increase anyway, not enough to prove it for certain.I still think that there is less than 500 who would be that principled to miss watching the team they adore. This site is a barometer, last week it was bedlam and dissatisfaction, saturday night onwards there has been much more calm.Saturday night if we lose then we will be back to last weeks fun and games. It is results that will be the make or break of it all. Palace fans don't see themselves as attractive, these days, They could only muster 12,000 for the Birmingham game.
