I still think we'll get beaten at Birmingham though

Although I hope not, my gut feeling is the same.

A true test for Wotte is picking up the boysh when they've been on a big high and then lose.

That is the bit that concerns me. A loss to Brum followed by a home defeat will set us back to square one.

Hey what's going on Mick? On another thread you're talking positively about staying in the CCC this year and even challenging for the Prem next! Your moods are swinging mate!

Can't make my mind up. Just when we all start to get excited, things tend to go belly up.

We've beaten Brum once this season, no reason why we can't do it again. Like everyone near the top their recent form has been a bit dodgy recently - as is evidenced by the fact I think we can still technically win the league!

They're still a tough prospect at home though - I'd be delighted with a draw.

I actually think Derby will be a tougher proposition - partly because for the first time since maybe the Doncaster game the fans will all be expecting a win. And we all remember how well that went against Donny!

The problem is though teams around us are playing each other at the weekend so win, lose or draw someone will be catching us or moving away.

Blackpool are a team deep in the **** and are the team form wise are most likely to fall into the drop zone. But they are playing Norwich. The team below us. If we lose and Blackpool win it will move them up 4 places. If Norwich win and we lose we drop back to 2nd to bottom and Blackpool join us in the drop zone. So really i think if we can get a win and hope those 2 draw we really will be flying. The problem then becomes Barnsley will have 2 games in hand over us due to not playing at weekend and Watford play Charlton. If Charlton lose that they will be over 10 points adrift, i think we have to say they are relegated if they lose. So really if you look at it a loss and results going against us really could put us further back in the ****.

Can't see any reason why we can't go there and get something; we're on a roll and they are on a wobble.

They've taken 2 wins and 6 goals scored from a fairly non-descript run of seven fixtures.

Most recent first

Sheff Wed A 1-2L

Palace A 0-0D

Cov A 0-1L

Forest H 2-0W

Burnley H 1-1D

Shef Weds A 1-1D

Derby H 1-0W

Put that against our current form of three solid wins, all against top-half-of -he-table teams, and that surely puts us in with a shout?

Players and fans need to go their with every confidence and keep this run going ... we seem to have hit on the magic formula of scoring goals (Saga/JE) and not letting too many in (much improved back 4 recently).

Brum 0 Saints 2 (DMcG, JE)

Living where I do (Telford) I have many neighbours who are 'Blues' fans. I've spoken to two of them this morning and they believe that they will LOSE on Saturday by the odd goal. It's Saints turn to get a bit of glory and as far as Micks ( a Brummie) concerned Brum will still be in the CCC next season.

We have it all to play for so COYR!

But that it is not the end of the world, whereas beating Derby is of prime importance.

Sort of agree with you. The build up of confidence and winning mentality is great, they sound like they are playing well and we seem to play better against teams in the top half, but I also think because of the inexperience we may need a reverse to set us on the road for the rest of the season - it's sort of what always happens to us, but I do feel we now have a chance of getting enough points as long as we don't crash badly or get injuries/suspensions

Exactly right I think. As well as things are going now, we will inevitably lose a game at some point, and the test will be responding to that loss: if we can come back from a loss and play well and get a win the following game, I'll know this is for real, and not just a flash in the pan.

What a load of negative thinkers post on here. We are currently in better form than Birmingham and they will be under pressure to come out and attack to get a top two finish. There is no reason at all athat we can't go there and win on Saturday. I'm going in big with my local bookmaker.

I'm one of the more optimistic posters actually. But I don't see us getting anything at Birmingham.

I am of course always willing to be pleasantly surprised though.I don't see it as a must to get any points there though.

We don't need to come out of a game of trench warfare there at all cost. Beating Derby is far more important.

Agree. I'd be happy with a point, but if we lose I still think well play well and stay up.

Anyone else going to be casting half an eye at the Birmingham vs Bristol match tonight and hoping for a smattering of injuries and cards for the Brummies? :)

According to the BBC site this morning Brum had 7 first teamers doubtful for the Bristol game - shame
