if the rest of the season is anything to go by it will be Kelvin Davis heading in a corner.

He has carried the team for half the season and must realise by now that if you want something done properly you might just have to go up there and sort it yourself.

He did really well last time he tried that.

i really fear that we will be relegated before the last game of the season.

Take a step back and apart from that purple patch (and it was only a patch) of 3 wins in a row we have been awful this season. Derby and QPR games underlined that.

The 3 straight wins were, not ofr the first time with Southampton, a false dawn.

I pray I am wrong.

you are assuming we will win at least 3 more games though arent you ?

No I'm assuming we'll carry on getting 1.3 points per game as we have so far under Wotte's tenure, that's why I say "statistically".

Going into the last game we'd be on 48 points or so and I doubt whether all of the others would have obtained 52 points by then because there are a few games between them.

Yeah but that means from the 8 games we will have got 10 points. Personally i don't think 10 points will be enough. Seeing as we already need 4 points to get out of the drop zone. If we lose at the weekend and say Norwich,Plymouth and Barnsley win would mean 3 teams move further away from us. That then means the team 4th to bottom would be Norwich still with 45 points. Meaning to get out of the drop zone we would need 7 points. Meaning we would need to win 3 of the 8 games and hope Norwich lose 3 games just to get back to level terms. At that point a further loss could push us 10 points adrift and pretty much down. That is where we are at, 1 loss and a group of bad results will push us needing 7 points after saturdays game. That is why we have to win 5 of the 8.

I.

The question is of us being relegated before the last match.

9 points from 7 games would probably stop that happening.

If you move on to the 4th April matches you have something like Blackpool-Plymouth and Barnsley-Forest.

So unless we lose t home to Charlton we're obliged to make up ground on some-one there.

In all honesty unless we get 6 from the next 9 i think we are down before the last game. Next 3 games are as follows

Saints = Blackpool (a), Charlton (h), Watford (a).

Norwich = Birmingham (a), Sheff Weds (h), Swansea (a)

Plymouth = Burnley (h), Blackpool (a), Coventry (h).

Barnsley = Derby (a), Forest (h), Sheff Utd (a).

Forest = Wolves (h), Barnsley (a), Bristol (h)

Of all the teams we have on paper the easiest next 3 games of the relegation candidates. These 3 games in my view will decide our fate. Fail to beat at least 2 of those teams and chances are we will still be 4 points adrift.

Then the 4th game we play Wolves away, Norwich play Watford at home. If we get to that game without 6 points and we lose and Norwich win we will be at least 7 points adrift with 4 games left. Meaning if we lose/draw the 5th game against Palace at home we could be confirmed down.

If we come out of the next 3 games with less then 6 points we could be confirmed down by the Wolves game. Which sadly i think is why that game was picked for TV.

We need too win our next two games to give us any chance IMO. I think 6 points from Blackpool and Charlton would get us out the bottom 3 but probably only just, if we go into the two tough away games (Watford and Wolves) still playing catch up we are ****ed.

I agree if we do not get 6 points out of the next two games we will be too far adrift unless all of the other likely suspects lose both their games. If we lose the next two it will be game over by Wolves even if we beat Watford as you cannot assume every one else will lose three consecutive games.

I've been saying for quite a while that it will go to the wire, but I may have to reconsider that prediction if things go pear shaped over those three games!!!!

As you say, our run of three games is by far the easiest of those in the mire, so any slip ups could well be fatal.

Personally think we will pick up 4 -7 points which will keep us in the hunt.

not sure if 4 is enough as the games will be running out

imo lose saturday and it will be all over

I'm inclined to agree with you. A win for Blackpool would also put them on 49 points and virtually safe. Our only other big hope is our game-in-hand but with have to stay 'in touch' for that to be significant. A win away at Watford is not out of the question, but I suspect we'll end up with another draw. I think that by the 7th April the picture will be a lot clearer. This has all the makings of us being narrowly relegated and cursing those missed penalties, missed chances, etc, etc, etc

Can't see it going to the last game....... Charlton will be down with 4 games to go and Saints with 2 to go in my view......there just isn't the passion and fight that other clubs around the relegation zone have........Division 3 and the journeymen will move on to pastures new.........
