Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 After that shower of s***e performance today against a team who had nothing to play for, I am calling for the players (and coaching staff) to give up this weeks wages and donate it to the 'Save our Saints' funds. Why should we be donating our hard earned money to pay their wages when they dont even give a s**t about battling to the end?! They earn more than most of us and yet dont seem to care. 1 weeks wages to them is not a lot of money, so I urge you players and coaching staff involved in todays debacle to give up your weeks wages as an apology to the people who pay them and to help save the club you have had a hand in ruining. Micky Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 Unfortunately most of the players appear, at present, not to fall into the 'Our Saints' category though - because they are all perceived as crap. So if they gave up a weeks wages it would be to 'Save' whom? They won't do it anyway...!!!

Crouchie's Lawyer Posted 18 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 18 April, 2009 I do not claim to be a lawyer, my name is reference to a 'Muppet Show' joke. Just quickly picking up on the point about the fans buyout, fair play for trying but the person(s) setting that up have pretty much taken what people have wrote on an internet forum as gospel and based their whole company set up on this. Yes there is a thread saying how much people would be willing to give, but when it comes down to the crunch, how many of those people would actually do it and fork out the £500 each or so? I dont think it will be that many of them which completely screws the whole business income predictions! Why the person(s) setting this up did not consider this I do not know!? derry Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 We should look carefully at the staff and virtually release or sell if we can all of them and start again with a new squad and a clean slate. None of the present lot will cut it on a regular basis in div 1. We need character and a will to win.
corsacar saint Posted 18 April, 2009 Share Posted 18 April, 2009 Agree totally with Derry, the deadwood [and that includes most players] has to go,and we basically have to start from scratch. If we survive, anyonewho thinks we will come straight back up with most of the current squad still at the club is living in cuckoo land.

derry Posted 19 April, 2009 Share Posted 19 April, 2009 Let's learn a lesson for once. If the club survives never again employ the sort of shallow characters we have in abundance at the club. All through the season we have had a load of inane b-ollocks quoted on the official website from this player or that, how much they care, what they are going to do next etc, etc. Character and intelligence has to be criteria no1, then pace AND strength, then ability, that rules out virtually every member of the current squad. I think the academy needs a big overhaul, the level of football knowledge and technique displayed by the graduates to the first team is appalling, FFS most of them can't even kick a dead ball or shoot accurately. What do they do there. It seems as long as they can trap a bag of cement and look pretty that's enough.

ooohTerryHurlock Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 I would prefer it if no one was forced to do anything, so a petition is a **** idea. It would be a nice jesture if offered up though. I suggested a 'everyone donate a days wages' Fans, Players, Staff everyone, but we need to know what we are working towards, this was clear from MC the other night -a lot of people are prepared to donate but you need a clear aim for this, a target or a goal, then you can really raise funds but at the moment we are caught by the football league investigation which i really believe is hampering us. Perhaps we would be better trying to strike a deal with the FL so that we do infact take the penalty this season as we are almost certainly doomed. This will then enable them to close the loophole and tighten regs and we can move on sharpish. I still fill that a viable bid from the council and the fans can be made to at least buy SMS - this would surely ensure our safety and give us a decent infrastructure to build from. Also what is the point in carping on about the playing staff wages -these were contract signed in the past, a line needs to be drawn under them and we should learn a lesson but using their wages as a constant lever or reason to not donate to save the club is pretty **** poor imo. ALso the confusion with pledging has n't hepled - one thread has about £750000 pledged and the other about £75K but the appeal need to be widen out to people who don't spend all day in dark rooms on internet forums:rolleyes:

Footballers... only joking Seriousily the problem isn't necessarily with the lads - most of them just want to play football... the problem lies with thier agents and advisors. Perhaps we need to get back to the old principles of only dealing with the player and thier mum or dad. Would get rid of some of the rodents that make an immoral living by acting as agents... The Echo have run the website address once and despite their alleged Save Our Saints banner, are in reality not helping at all either us or the club. I am getting a lot of feedback, most of it negative. How are things going with the council? I'm not sure people appreciate the seriousness of the situation The Echo could print a howgozit panel with the address every day, Simon Carter said to me it was no problem. Haven't done it. Radio Hampshire covered it for a day did an interview for the brothers. Mike Osman put it out on his show. I asked the BBC to put it on their website and was knocked back. Kevin James did it one day said he would repeat it and talk to Roger Johnson about BBC South Tv putting it out, I've seen nothing since. Wave 105 covered it for a day. It's not as if it's money we are asking for at present, I think until the club is 48hrs from dead the bulk of the public except for the most committed fans aren't the least bit interested. In the end most of them will just shrug and say it's a pity the club collapsed.

The sale of those like Surman and Lallana and any others with a value however small would virtually complete the job. Most of the more experienced players still in contract won't want to play in league one and will want to go anyway. So surely then Derry - as we only see ourselves as a fallback position we should be hammering out the B plan with Royston Smith et al - to see what we will need? Are we in contact with Mr Smith?
