lancelot link Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 I've got hacked off over the last few days reading rubbish on here. I suggest we focus on what is ACTUALLY going on with our club, and not what some others with motives only they can understand will have us contemplate. A few thoughts:- 2 weeks ago, we nearly didn't have a club. FACT 1 week ago, we had confirmation that we had a buyer. FACT As of this minute, nothing has been said OFFICIALLY to change this. FACT So, how about thinking of these prospects................................. We have a new owner, who for whatever reason wants to keep himself/herself/thereself to themselves until the ink has dried on paper. Refreshing thought really that someone can be professional with the shambles that is SFC over the last number of years. That leads me to believe its not Messrs Lowe and/or Wilde. We've had confirmation from Mr Fry that a 'substantial deposit' was put down by our new owners, being led, for whatever reason by a bloke who lives amongst us and is a close friend of MLT. We've also had this same bloke tell us first hand that everything is progressing according to plan and its a matter of legalities. Furthermore we've had him say, supporting by MLT, that this is a long term plan - I think the quotes were something like "5 year model to return to top flight". Now call me cynical, or just old fashioned, but why the hell are people panicking?! Or maybe, just maybe, for once we've actually found light at the end of the very long (RL) tunnel and those folk who made us fall on our ass will be banished into the history books. Bring it on. dubai_phil Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 LL It doesn't actually have to be EXCITING times. Just having ANY times next season will be a miracle after what we have been through the past few years. Job ONE get everything sorted, it is going to be a hell of a lot of work trying to clean up the mess of the past 4 years. After that, ANYTHING will be a bonus and heaven

SFC Forever Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 I go along with the good vibes required group. We are so very close to being rescued you can almost smell the grass. Then we will be selecting the players we feel could do a job for us under a new manager. The sky may be blue but everything is glowing RED and WHITE. Bailey Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 I remain cautiously optimistic. The fact that we haven't heard a lot from the likes of Tony Lynam and Pinnacle suggests that everything is being done in a professional manner. No news is good news, and unless we hear otherwise, all we can do is assume that the bid is progressing nicely. We'll know when we know, so there's no point in stressing and we'll find out in due course. Understandably, some fans are going to doubt this bid as in ways it does seem too good to be true, and under the stewardship of Lowe and Wilde we have had to suffer but here's hoping that we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. westofshannonsaint Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 I was telling a friend the other day that Le God was coming in as chairman, Rod Stewart was going to be our new owner and that would tie in nicely with WGS coming back as manager. WGS as manager will negate the 10 point hit and Saints will finish top 6. MLT will reregister as a Player and will score the winning penalty in the Playoff final shoot-out. well I can dream, but to be honest it is nice to be able to believe in Saints again, this time last year I was loosing all faith (but my predictions came true). I just hope Pinnacle/MLT/??? are ready to go when the I's are crossed and the T's dotted, the countdown is on to the 2009/2010 season.

Neil Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 If we kick off in League One on -10 on Saturday 8th August then that is all the excitement we need! There's still two weeks left to finalise the takeover, the important thing is that people are cracking on with sorting out the football issues now and not wasting more time. I don't really think there's much mess to clear up. Just a lot of season tickets to sell that's all, and maybe a few players to come or go. The rest will take care of itself and will be much easier if we are debt-free.
The Godfather Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 I don't know how long the legal details take (de-listing from the stock exchange etc) but these thing never happen overnight. We won't know who is the money behind the bid until it has gone through. Mark Fry was adament that Pinnacle and the other bidders were very strong about keeping the identity of the main money men involved confidential. Sounds very Cantonaesque. Saw a preview of 'Looking gor Eric' yesterday, brillianyt film. Cantona was a genius, but he wasn't no Matt LeTis. Get behind the love in. sussexsaint Posted 8 June, 2009 Share Posted 8 June, 2009 Why are we panicking? Well because we are Saints fans thats why - pretty much every team in the world would be ecstatic with 3-0 up at half time, having followed Saints all my life I know that that can turn into 3-4 all too often. I don't dispute that these are exciting times, I suppose we are just to cynical and hurt by past experience to actually believe that something good might be about to happen. I think a lot of sphincters will relax once the ink is dry however

ottery st mary Posted 8 June, 2009 Share Posted 8 June, 2009 that is one of the most poignant comments ever made on TSW!!! or are you really in a tunnel......? Its been a bloooody long dark tunnel and its taken me ages to find one end or the other ... I hid in here when some three card tricksters took over the club again with some Dutch craaap idea about formations and football .. revolutions. But when I saw the smoke signals declaring Saints will end up in good hands I kept running and suddenly these last two days the light has got brighter and brighter in the Southampton area end of the tunnel...There are still one or two Lowe down blighters trying to trip me up and spoil it all..but I am nearly there with very sunny days ahead....HOPE HOPE and more HOPE:) Surely you know I mean well.
