  1. I believe you're going with someone who goes to no more than 6 games a season and really isn't that bothered whether we win or lose, just as long as he can take the p!ss out of the fans who do go to all the games and actually do care whether we win or lose.
  2. He sounds like an accounts man to me. He just doesn't care whether we win or lose, has no real interest in the team and his idols are probably Kat and Les for giving him a business model to follow.
  3. On May 15 this year I was feeling the best I've felt as a Saints fan since the 1980s. The feeling that weekend was one of pure joy and there was certainly nothing wrong with the Premier League then because we were 5th in it *****il Man Utd won their rearranged game) and in Europe on merit. In Mane we had one of the most exciting Saints players I'd ever seen and several of our players were going to feature in the European Championship finals. I couldn't wait for this season to start. Then the usual manager and player exodus started and I felt as low as I felt when Pochettino, Lambert, Shaw and Lallana left 2 years earlier: the highs and the lows of being a football fan. Maybe I take it all too seriously. The ones on here who don't seem to care whether we sell our best players or not, and seem to take more interest in the club's accounts, just don't get it as far as I'm concerned. I just wish we would keep the players and managers longer, build team spirit, kick on and actually win something. The revolving door policy means that the team are largely strangers and it becomes increasingly difficult to relate to the players, knowing they are going to be sold to our rivals in a couple of years' time. I was beginning to identify with Mane as a potential all-time great Saints player and was looking forward to seeing him score 20+ goals for us this season but I just view Boufal now as some injured player I don't know who will be sold to Liverpool or Spurs in less than 2 years if he gets fit and turns out to be any good. It seems more about the business nowadays and less about the team so it does get harder to care. But, I still care enough that every time we lose I feel depressed and every time we win I feel great.
  4. Ha. ha. I knew that post would flush you out. I had a bet with a friend about how long it would be before you replied. I said 5 minutes; he said half an hour so he was closest.
  5. Dennis Wise, who went on to play 322 games for Chelsea and 21 for England. I don't know if we could call Mikhail Antonio a reject as he was only here on loan but how we could do with him now. Boruc hasn't done badly at Bournemouth either.
  6. To be frank, hte U18s have been cr@p since Dodd and Williams were sacked. Dodd is coaching at Winchester College and Williams is coaching the England U16s. They'd probably be happy to come back here once Les Reed has gone. The turnover of staff in all departments has been phenomenal since Reed assumed control. He just dossn't seem to get on with anyone. There is very little continuity at any level.
  7. I bet Liverpool wouldn't sell Mane for 50 million + Long. They know his value. Clyne, Lallana and Mane must be worth at least 50% more than we sold them for. We poroably got about the right price for Lambert and Lovren. But, it's the big deals, like Bale and Mane, that we really miss out on. What Spurs got for Bale helped pay for their new stadium and when Liverpool sell Mane, he will pay for the Anfield stadium expansion.
  8. Our U18s lost 3-0 to Arsenal today. It's not about the buildings, it's about the coaches, and the best ones, Dodd and Williams, were sacked.
  9. We can hope.
  10. So that's why Ward-Prowse never scores any goals for us.
  11. We keep players 2 years before selling them so he won't be sold next summer.
  12. You don't see them out so much because they work so quickly and finish the buildings much faster than we do. I always think it would be great if we could get a bunch of workers over here from the Far East to sort out our road and rail maintenace work. In fact that's what the Victorians and Americans used to do and what the Arabs do now to get their skyscrapers built.
  13. There are lots of exciting sponsorship opportunities out there: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/greek-club-voukefala-get-sponsored-by-local-1346802
  14. The ITK leaks are interesting and highly sought after when they are discussing incoming transfer rumours but when they refer to possible and planned outgoing transfers they seem to have a very negative effect on our support for the team. Ultimately, they turn some of us against just about every one of our players and managers, with the exception of those that have been bought recently who are talked up as their purchase reinforces the cult of Les and the black box. Jose Fonte is in his 8th year with us. Not many top class international players stay here that long. He has done nothing wrong but the finger of suspicion is being pointed at him the same as it is at all of our player who are sought after by top clubs. How do we know that certain players told Les they would refuse to play for the club, threw trantrums, threatened to go on strike or that certain managers were lazy, disliked by players etc etc??? For me anyway, the best thing to do is support the team out there on the pitch and to be grateful to those top players who gave us many years good service. That,as I recall, is how it used to, before all of these 'leaks' about tantrums, sulking, laziness and strikes started.
  15. I see there are still those one here trying to undermine our support for the players and especially the team captain. The Aussie cricketers said they always found it most effective to aim their sledging at the team captain. FFS, give it a rest, will you?
  16. I don't kinow why they are so worried about AR-10 not posting today. The transfer window has closed. He'll be back when Les has any more information or messages he wants him to pass on, as will areasix on the UI.
  17. They obviously didn't know much about football either. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/707156/England-Slovakia-player-ratings-Wayne-Rooney-Adam-Lallana-Sam-Allardyce-World-Cup http://www.goal.com/en-gb/match/slovakia-vs-england/2116332/ratings
  18. MOTM performance from Lallana for England today. As he matures, he is developing into the long-term replacement for Gerrard.
  19. Give it a rest. When did he say the club had denied him a move??? Sounds like some of our fans have already made up their minds he is going to be their latest hate figure and are just making stuff up to try to discredit him. Next, it will be he didn't smile enough during a match, he's not trying because he's sulking etc etc. It's pathetic behaviour from so-called fans of a team in which he has been the most loyal player and captain.
  20. Give it a rest. He hasn't said or done anything wrong. This is what he said. "I’m focused on Southampton. I’ve lots of targets: to play in the Champs League, to play in a World Cup, to win a trophy in England." Some of our fans are the ones jumping to the conclusion that it's impossible to win a trophy or play in the Champions League here, not Fonte. Is he now going to have our so-called fans on his back for the rest of the season, trying to hound him out of the club?
  21. Totally agree with you. We seem to have some of the most disloyal fans in the country. They look for any opportunity to turn against our players. The poor bloke hasn't said anything but any excuse to turn against him will do.
  22. Niall has just updated it: http://www.nufc.com/2016-17html/attendance-all-time.html
  23. Why? What has he done? He's in Portugal and seems happy enough: José Fonte 4 hrs · Honra enorme!!!Obrigado Cidade do Porto Immensely honoured!!!Thank you city of Porto Thank you #portugal #ihaveadream Still going!!!CHAAAAMPS
  24. The team we field against Arsenal, who we've only lost to once in our last 6 meetings, will reveal the current strength of our squad.
  25. But, he doesn't play in the same role. Wanyama was the team's midfield 'enforcer' who would break up opposition attacking moves well before they reached our penalty area. You could rely on him to close down opposition attacks when we needed to hold on to a lead. Hojbjerg doesn't do that even though he is clearly a talented footballer. We now have a physically very small team which can easily be outmuscled and shoved aside and really need another Wanyama.
