If I remember correctly we went on a very poor run after Burley took over and various players (Niemi, Quashie) left in the January window. At one stage it looked like we could've been dragged in to another relegation battle until we got some results over the last 6 or so games..

I was discussing what the team MAY look like IF WH fail to win on Monday
-
I said on another thread that Jaidi will get a farewell appearance and maybe Seabourne will get a game. Maybe a League debut for Stephens?
-
I think WH will fail to win on Monday and we'll have a chance to say cheerio to Jaidi next week. Would be nice to see Seabourne get a game too.

Saints / Reading / West Ham run in: Games to go . . .

I hope Bristol City win on Saturday so that the relegation places are put to bed. Don't want any chance, however remote, that we'd send Coventry down and give Pompey a chance to stay up. -
It won't be down to their game. They will probably be secure in 4th by then

Go on Bristol -
The good thing about the play offs is that it keeps the division competitive right until the end of the season. If it was 3 up it would have been all over weeks ago.

I think you'll find that they look at the head to head before a one off play off. -
Firstly you said we need 7 points to have a chance of going up - wrong. We will go up if we get seven. As far as I can gather WH won 1 game today. It is still unlikely that they will win the next 3.
-
Alternatively: We need a win at a team with nothing to play for and our fans will make nearly 50% of the crowd. We need a draw against a team whose home record is nothing special. We need a win against a team already relegated or need to come on a kamikaze must win mission.
-
We're having a shocker as it stands. Lots of games not going the way that would suit us if we look ahead to WH's final 3 matches.
-
Madness. You are assuming that WH will win 4 in a row (possible, nothing more) and, in the process, they will overturn a GD of +9. Highly, highly unlikely. We've even scored more goals as well. Please be realistic.
-
Another draw for WH; leaving us requiring 4 points for promotion. Other games to watch out for: Burnley v Cov - Burnley win. Hopefully Cov relegated before we play them. Brim v Bristol C - Brum to win and keep Bristol C honest against WH Tuesday night. Millwall v Leicester - Leicester win to keep their play off hopes alive, they play WH in the penultimate match. Derby v Middlesbrough - Derby win to spoil Boro play off ambitions. Watford v Hull - Hull win to keep their play off hopes alive. They play WH last day.
-
Is the reading game sold out? - answer: yes!

Now this one is sold out we should overtake Derby in the attendance table. I presume Derby offer some very deep discounts? -
Tuesday's matches, inc. Brighton v Reading (1945 KO)
ludgershallsaint replied to Crazy Diamond's topic in The Saints
The key thing is that Brighton have something to play for. That only guarantees effort though. I see in the round of games next Tuesday, WH's opponents are Bristol so there's a chance they'll need a result too. -

Pompey to all intents and purposes relegated. 9 points adrift with 4 to play. -
No chance that Brum will go up automatically. 84 points (their maximum) will simply not be enough to finish 2nd.
