I'm sorry, were people expecting him to immediately fill Ings' boots? Ings is a big loss no doubt about it but Armstrong has been menacing in both games, he's already scored one good goal (so not another Adams), he's pacy, suits the system and linked up well with Adams again today. He's started well, give him a chance. Adams has done well both games and I'm confident he'll step up this season as well, meaning we're no longer a one man team that fall apart with a single injury.

Lyanco is probably being brought in as first choice.

Seems to be rapid, technically gifted, good range of passing, but questionable at defending. I can see why Ralph might like him because he's a good athlete. Enjoys dribbling the ball forward... There are plenty who would say the same thing about those that go on online forums. Not that any of those things you listed are subjectively bad. Just let people enjoy things. They're not hurting you so why are you trying to make them feel bad?

I think leadership is a key quality for any top centre half and the players I listed trump VVD in that regard. They have also won a lot more so had that experience at their peaks although VVD obviously has time to catch up in both these regards.

Vincent Kompany, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Nemanja Vidic then maybe VirgilVan Dijk but I'm probably missing some.
