  1. MotD's Goal of the Season is based on each month's Goal of the Month. Long's didn't win May's Goal of the Month (due to Wiltshire's vaguely decent hit), so wasn't even in contention. Once the "experts" have cut the list down, it's down to which club has the most fans on Twitter... sorry, I mean a fan vote on Twitter. Which is bloody ridiculous.
  2. Worth noting we were almost certainly the only side that faced Liverpool with Sturridge in the team TWICE this season...
  3. Happens all the time, though GD is usually a good indicator of where a club should be in the league.
  4. Having seen Cropper for the first time in a competitive game last week, I think his kicking needs work - his hands were good but he looked fairly uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. Boruc was inevitable after he burned his bridges when we signed Forster, thanks to Jos for everything he did getting us up and hopefully he'll find another club, and best wishes to the kids who at least have a lot of options lower down compared to when we were a L1 club... Slightly weirded out by the comment above about Gazzaniga, who isn't out of contract and has just had his best game for the club in the Premier League.
  5. ...whilst their away kit says "look at our teamwear"!
  6. Menwhile, new Boro shirt suggests that Saints away kit MIGHT have a mesh v-neck collar...
  7. This is interesting:
  8. This lot for the away kit too. Euw.

Ha, I see your burglary attempt. Unlucky. But yeah.
  10. Wouldn't read much into the Guardian's preview: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/may/22/manchester-city-southampton-match-preview Has Gazzaniga in goal, and Kompany in City's defence.
  11. Koeman's press conference just confirmed Rodriguez won't be in the squad, nor will Schneiderlin or Tadic.
  12. It was obviously a weird way around to have the "relationship", as you say, never seen anything to support it. Anyway, lets keep the away kit stuff to here: http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?52052-The-Long-Overdue-Pointless-2015-16-(Adidas)-Kit-Thread#.VV8_Vk_BzGc
  13. I don't think he should start, but can't see much risk in giving him 10 minutes at the end if things are looking decent for us or it's already a lost cause. Generally I don't think we should be too worried about giving him a run out, but it would be a reminder to him of what he's been missing for next season to make sure his pre-season is as dedicated as his rehab, rather than it being a psychological barrier that he now has to do pre-season to get a game. I certainly don't give a monkey's about it being the same place he got injured, that's just nonsense and if anything I'd rather he got back on that horse when it's not going to affect anything. Though I assume pulling him from the U21s has meant he won't make the bench on Sunday.
  14. As I may have mentioned, Newport's is £900k for next season.
  15. You have to look at the longevity of all of those up the top - the criteria aren't obvious but most (Lambert and Shilton aside) are very long term. Arguably Lundekvam and Svensson could be up there on similar measuring stick to Fonte. Though the same goes for strikers and Lambert - I guess it's reasonable that the more recent player is a shorter term thing.
  16. Doubt it, rumour has it they only have one of the home shirts at the moment, never mind the away shirt which will probably not be on sale until the end of July.
  17. If they don't want them, we could use an U21 midfielder who was lots more effective than Reed in that particular match (no idea what happened when we beat them 2-0 the weekend before).
  18. He wouldn't get picked if he'd been injured unless he was a key player anyway, they're only playing friendlies and no point annoying the clubs. I don't think moving at 27 is significantly different from moving at 26 in career terms. He'll get a 4-5 year deal wherever and then his next deal he's best placed to negotiate at 30, before he starts to slide, either way.
  19. He was their number 9 (assuming the players are 1-11 in the report on the OS) - he was the least impressive of all their attacking players tbh, his goal was a tap in from inside the 6 yard box and he spent most of the match false nineing his way into midfield to create space for others. Athletic and pacy, decent enough touch but didn't really shine despite the result. Their number 5 (Angel Tasende) was a powerpack in midfield, like a "ready" Harrison Reed and their number 8 (Olivier Ntcham) had a decent shot on him.
  20. He already did that, we just saw it.
  21. He wasn't "bad", he looked pretty decent in his 10 minute sub appearance. It was the off-pitch stuff that got him the boot.
  22. I doubt Fonte grew up in Liverpool and would be fulfilling any kind of lifelong dream. I didn't rate Lambert for the last 18 months with us, but I don't begrudge him wanting that transfer. If anything we've come out of it looking very shrewd, he even missed the first penalty he took for them last pre-season.
  23. Quite. Good to see the level of half-assed punditry is as cack as ever.
  24. You've JUST realised this? I've booked the draw date and the 3rd and Play Off round dates off work. Should be fine though, the list of clubs we could face at that stage is pretty mediocre so far. Of course if we finish 6th, we're guaranteed at least going into the 3rd Qualfying Round and Arsenal winning the FA Cup is actually worth winning two rounds of Europa League qualifiers for Saints.
