  1. I'd like to see the logic you've got behind UEFA's CL Final prices causing player wages to be high or vice versa...?
  2. Interesting to see that they've got Matt Paterson in on loan as well, his Southend career clearly isn't going well...
  3. If Pulis can get a goal there, Doble will get a few. Lets hope he comes back after his time there, invigorated by Saints being Any Good in comparison.
  4. I'm happy for the global bestest Saints forum football trophy to continue to reside with Saints Forever over those cnvts at Essruu's Saints Fun (RIP). After the thrashing we doled out at Fleming Park (astro) back in 2005(ish), we've had the hypothetical trophy longer than Cheats FC had the FA Cup during the World War now, even stole some of their players... and in MY head Saints Forever segued into TSW and then SaintsWeb, so YAY, we won already without even playing. Plus I've seen Illingsworth play centre back, so we'd be fine anyway. Not that I'd get a game any more.
  5. In that case it makes a lot more sense, fair enough to replace something which already marked the spot.
  6. 28_F I agree with you, the logistics of selling every ticket on a game by game basis are tricky, as opposed to the convenience of selling STs at a reduced rate and getting the guaranteed money up front. And every single other club in the Prem and Football League does it. But then every single of the other 91 was happy to go along with the photographer accreditation situation as well. The vast majority also had instalment plans - and where there wasn't one it was due to lack of demand. I'm also pretty sure we were at the forefront of the decision to sell the programme online too. I just hope this isn't another harsh lesson in English Football business practice waiting to happen for our imaginative Chairman.
  7. ...and Sheffield Wednesd... never mind.
  8. I didn't even know who he was 10 minutes ago, this reminded me. However, I am contributing little or nothing to this thread other than to say "I think what he's doing is pretty funny", so let's not get all confused that post count = level of interest. They do appear to be treating it like a Cup Final though.

I can only find them being on the same pitch for 55 minutes together over these two matches : CHAMPIONSHIP Sa 11Mar 2006 Crewe 1 - 1 Southampton CHAMPIONSHIP Mo 20Mar 2006 Southampton 1 - 3 Watford Rasiak signed in Jan 2006 but Kosowski only played 4 league matches in the time he was also a squad member and Rasiak didn't feature in two of those. Rasiak is the only player who I regard as being simultaneously quite good and incredibly crap for Saints.

I regard him more of a hep cat than kid. Where did he once replace Nicolas Anelka ? Bolton ?
  11. Nice to know it's not just me who can see this angle on things anyway - as you've said JRM, it was a card deduction not a DD, but the point that it was a different scheme to the one the club had used up until the summer of 2008, replaced by.. nothing. I'm not really bothered if the club sees fans as cash cows or not, but I can guarantee that if the current policies continue I'll be spending a lot less in supporting Saints than if I felt like a valued customer.
  12. I'd expect the manager to SAY we can't afford to lose any more matches even if he knew perfectly well he was talking nonsense. None of us on here are forced ino that situation so we're able to discuss the number of matches we can realistically lose and still finish in the top 2. As for Cortese, I gave up trying to work out his logic quite some time ago. And for the record, just saying you won't lose any more games doesn't make it any more or less true.
  13. It's called "Volare", Arsenal fans started the various versions by replacing it with "Vieira". And yes, it is the same tune as that Vidic link.
  14. Logically as they've already happened, and we're still in with a chance of promotion, that can't be the case. Only results from this point forward can cost us - unless of course we win every match and it's still not enough points for us to be promoted (which is mathematically impossible).
  15. Quite. I haven't heard a Kingsland North song that wasn't "We're the Kingsland" in ages, and even that one gets started in the Northam. And as for the "Northam only sings 5 or 6 songs all the time", I'm not sure I can give a better response than the one earlier in this thread listing all (21 of) the songs sung in the Northam during two successive games at the start of October - in fact I'm pretty sure from a Northam Song Statistics perspective it's a world-leading piece of research.
  16. I'm not familiar with this song, is it anything like "Ni-Adk-s-re-nwh-rmy" ?
  17. Yup, and we were a further 7 points behind that in the end, though obviously the results of the last couple of games were affected by suddenly being in a nothing to win situation, and the Gillingham side wasn't what it would have been if we could still have made it. But that happens to someone every year.
  18. It was a pretty standard worst case scenario from our resident agitator.
  19. Funnily enough my first monthly DD payment bounced for that reason too - I'd completely forgotten that until you mentioned it then. I wonder if those numbers were counted in the "defaulters"..? As you say, let's hope they bother to tell us they're selling Season Tickets this year...
  20. Wasn't that the ONLY reason ? The one undermined somewhat by their failure to offer STs before July when they could have had all the money before they sent the tickets out. Also undermined by their refusal to offer finance rather than the one-time-only Direct Debit system of the previous year, which (repetition 101) was only because of the short timescales caused by having a takeover in July 2009 with the season starting in early August and having no ST plans in place due to Administration (and presumably cost-cutting).
  21. Sell tickets on a match by match basis, or in smaller blocks, making sure that they charge the supporter more, transparently of course... for the privilege. It's hardly like Cortese's shown an adherence to the traditional methods of running a football club to be high on his list of priorities when there's a profit motive - sometimes that's good, sometimes it isn't.
  22. Why didn't they try and get a plaque put up in the 60 years between the incident and the football club building the ground ? Were they not important then too ? The relatives have been trying "for years" to get this to happen, but the ground wasn't even there until 2001, who were they asking before that ? Are we now to assume that anyone who has ever lost a relative is now able to bother private companies about memorial plaques with the threat of bad publicity hanging over them if they decide that actually, it's just not that important in the big scheme of things, and it's not their responsibilty anyway ? Or are we as a society just going to carry on down this abhorrent route of using emotional blackmail as a means to achieve goals and being seen to do what's right for all the wrong reasons ? Like I said, fair enough that the club's chosen to do it, it's their property and they can do what they want - but why now after all this time ? It also seems a pretty spurious premise unless you accept that every civilian killed in wartime should have this kind of memorial.
  23. Nice gesture by the club, but if there wasn't a football ground on the site now would anyone have put up a plaque about it ? Are there commemorative plaques all around Southampton for all of the other people killed in bombing during the war ? Even if there are, does that make them some way special - it's not like they were off fighting or anything. Tragic, but there's a lot of that during wars, especially that one. Also, for "10 Saints fans died" should we not be saying "10 people who were in Southampton and may or may not have had an interest in the football club" or have we just assumed that everyone loved football then ?
  24. Fat fcking chance, IMHO. I would be happy to be wrong, but the club hasn't given any indication of either instalments or wanting our money in advance. At the moment I still have some (slightly paranoid) concerns that they might get rid of STs altogether.
  25. They have acted on the IFO, they added the 2010/11 Fans' Charter a couple of days after the report was published as a result of the IFO noting there was no Charter on the website, against FL guidelines. So either that was a massive coincidence, or their inaction on the other matters is deliberate.
