  1. And you could easily be talking about Bednarek as well. How can the fans see this but not the coaches. Quite bizarre.
  2. I think he deserves his own thread. I’ve watched a lot of football over the years and I know there are players we all don’t like or appreciate but we can see what they might contribute. I just don’t get it with ME. I can’t think of anything that he has ever done which could be called a decent contribution or indeed a contribution at all. Perhaps I’m just missing it and I’m happy to be corrected but in my very simple mind, when he’s on the pitch we might as well be playing with 10 men. There is much more wrong at Saints than ME but why start every game with one arm tied behind our backs? I wouldn’t even have the guy on the bench let alone starting. Can anyone shed any light why any manager would play him? He’s up there with one of the poorest players I’ve seen at Saints in the last ten years and I cannot see how he is a premiership player.
  3. Swap Bednarek for Salisu
  4. It’s very simple. Look at the stats. Play Stuey and we probably won’t lose.
  5. W5, D5 and L5 from here should be enough to stay up. Wins v Leeds, Leicester, Palace, Bournemouth, Fulham Draws v Brentford, West Ham, Forest, Spurs, Liverpool Losses v Man U, Man City, Arsenal, Newcastle, Brighton Not going to be easy but far from impossible
  6. Not allowed to use the word “Welsh” even if it’s with “Wonder” rather than “Twat”. Warrior lives in a wokey vanilla world where we’re all the same. You’ll upset him/her/she/he/it
  7. I called him a Welsh twat the other day and I am Welsh. You’re a little sensitive. Just relax. It’s Friday night. Have another strawberry daiquiri.
  8. He does have to mitigate his loss but it doesn’t mean in an employment context that he has to take any shit job that’s going. Saints’ lawyers will use this as a negotiating tool and Jones won’t hang out for every penny that’s due. If he takes us to court and wins he will still have unrecoverable legal costs. My bet is that he will cut a deal with us but he won’t give us much of a discount!
  9. His lawyers will currently be discussing with Saints’ lawyers what his pay out should be. Their starting point will be the remainder of his contract. If he doesn’t get a job between now and the settlement being agreed then he will probably get most of his contract paid up. If he gets another job in the meantime then depending upon what he gets paid in his new job, Saints will have to pay him less. Saints might try and drag this out for a while to see if he goes elsewhere unless they just want shot of him. What none of us know is whether there is some other clause in his contract which limits our liability to him.
  10. I suspect that compensation for his termination by Leeds hasn’t been agreed yet. Contractually they have to pay him out but there is the issue of mitigating his loss. This might very well have had a part to play in this. I wouldn’t be surprised that JM instead of backing himself at Saints he got greedy.
  11. Perhaps he was just seen as the best of a bad bunch - hence why the short contract offer
  12. Not sure why people are getting so upset. Imagine we had given him a longer contract, he had no impact, we were relegated and started the new season badly, people would be coming on here screaming that we were stupid to give him such a long contract. I think we’ve been very prudent here. The board, who don’t get me wrong as I’m no fan of them, obviously were not convinced Marsch was totally the man they wanted. They’ve acted properly in this instance.
  13. I'm more than happy to give him a fair crack but the first time that he picks Lyanco, Bednarek, Diallo and Elyounoussi all in the same starting XI, that will be it for me. Call for him to go at that point 😉
  14. Could do a lot lot worse
  15. Yep - the chap from Copenhagen to work alongside him
  16. Jess Thorup (thanks Turkish) is well worth having a read about. He would be as good as anyone currently available and achievable.
  17. All about money though isn’t it. Poch sounds like a stupid idea but if you offered him a £10 million bonus to keep us up for a fixed 16 week contract with the option for him to stay longer if he wanted………
  18. Of those that are free and available, hate to say it as I don’t like the guy but with a point to prove and not sure we will do better, Gerrard might be the man
  19. The board should resign as well. This was their appointment. They didn’t just get it a bit wrong. They made a monumental cock up. They cannot be trusted to appoint our next manager. They compounded their cluster fuck by not sacking him after last week’s performance, decision making by Jones and that humiliating interview.
  20. There’s a lot of us in that one out of ten.
  21. It has been shit for quite a while now at SFC and this week we hit new lows. But football is like life. It throws up the unexpected when you’re on your knees. We will go and beat Wolves this weekend and new hope is generated but it’s the hope that kills you.
  22. I know it’s not mathematically the case but we lose on Saturday and we’re probably fucked
  23. This is a message to the board if they do happen to read this. You don’t know Southampton FC. You don’t know the nature of the fan base. I can tell you now from a fan of nearly 50 years that Nathan Jones is doomed. We did it with Branfoot and I can tell you this is 10 times more powerful. The team can win on Saturday with Jones still in place but it will make no difference. He will be gone. If you want to walk away now with any modicum of self respect still intact you’ll sack him now. If you don’t then we will turn on you next and you’ll be gone within 6 months. We have long memories. Do what’s right and sack him this week. Nothing wrong in admitting you got this wrong. That’s the sign of a real man. Stubbornly ignoring the truth is a sign of weakness, arrogance and stupidity. You will pay for it in the end. Your days will also be numbered at Southampton.
  24. What about Caballero until the end of the season? He is experienced and seems popular amongst the players. I’m not sure who else is out there who would either want to come here or could do much better. I don’t believe Bielsa would want to come and do we really want Fat Sam or Hodgson? They ballsed this up by not giving the job to Dyche. I would take a spin on Caballero if he wanted it until the end of the season. We have the players we just need to unite them. Maybe a crazy idea but hey, who knows what might happen. Rather have Caballero rather than Lampard or Gerrard.
  25. I think they’ll give him another game purely because of the post match interview yesterday when he said from now on he will do it his own way. The board, because they are struggling to admit they’ve got this wrong will give him the opportunity to hang himself based on next Saturday’s performance.
